Asian Cinema Discussion - Zoom Meetup - Free

Hello Film Buffs,

Hope to see you tomorrow (Sunday) for our TalkHowdy meetup. The topic will be...
Asian Cinema!  Yes, all of Asia!
From Kurosawa to Miyazaki to the Apu Trilogy!  From the Best Picture-winning Parasite to Bollywood to all forms of anime.
Or even if you're not familiar with foreign films, look at the large number of English-language films that are influenced by different Asian cultures (Slumdog Millionaire, Bend It Like BeckhamIsle of Dogs, The Darjeeling Limited).  Kurosawa alone inspired the work of George Lucas, John Sturges, and Sergio Leone.
It is completely free. You can RSVP on the updated TalkHowdy page here: https://beta.talkhowdy.com/th/film-buffs
And you here is the Zoom link:
https://zoom.us/j/94973806307
See you Sunday for some Asian appreciation,
Gabe

Tribute to Faiz

For the past few months, I've been developing a twitter bot that tweets Faiz's poetry. I've been an ardent student of his art and ideology, and I thought this would be a fitting tribute to him.

After a lot of trial and error, it is finally up and running.

I would really appreciate if you guys can go and check it out, and possibly follow and interact with it.Here's the link = https://twitter.com/faiz_bot

Thanks!

A question about splitting mandalas

Hello, I have a question about using a mandala across a split space, such as a door or window panes. Our library has commissioned a few South Asian artists (who I am unable to reach today) to create some vinyl mandalas for us to decorate for Diwali. But someone on staff wants to split one of the Mandalas so it spans multiple windows. With the understanding that connectivity, and continuation, and meditation are part of the Mandala observation and creation practice, is it acceptable and still honouring the work if it's split like this? Your knowledge and cultural expertise is appreciated.

The tomb of Babur (1483-1530), founding ruler of the Mughal Empire. For centuries, his successors renovated this "paradise garden." The webbed marble screen of the mausoleum, plus a mosque flanked by terraced pools, were both built as propagandized linkages to a glorified past. Kabul, Afghanistan.
