If Jace went to the slient city would the slient brothers be able to identify Jace was possessed instead of mentally ill?

Giving the slient brothers job and all it makes sense they would be able to sense a possession i don't exactly have an opinion on if they would be able to identify who he was possessed by but the slient brothers being able to identify Jace being possessed makes sense or is it just me?.

A malec fanfic

So while I don't remember the title I know the context is Alec is a student and Magnus is a teacher. At the beginning of the semester Magnus and two other teachers are warned about Alec (not to be close to him as he'll try to sexually attract you). Magnus says he'll just treat Alec as any other student. When I was reading it it only had like 2-3 chapters so I quickly forgot about it but now I wish to know if it's been complete or not. If anyone knows what the fic is please let me know. TIA

This or That- it's been a long time, hasn't it?- Part 10

This might be the last...

  1. Luke and Simon or Magnus and Raphael? (Which father-son figure bond)
  2. Simon and Clary or Izzy and Clary (BFFs or Girl buddies)?
  3. Alaric or Gretel (who remembers them from the books, I do...)?
  4. Anna and Matthew or Christopher and Thomas (which duo)?
  5. Livia's Watch or Merry Theives?
  6. Jocelyn or Maryse?
  7. Tobias Herondale story or First Heir story?

Bonus:
8. Who's your favorite Blackthorn sibling?

Opinions on The Last Hours

I’m an AVID fan of TID and TMI. Love them so much. Read em all. Started lady midnight years ago but never finished the series; I will someday because I remember loving the book. I didn’t know TLH was even a series until I finished re reading TID recently and was searching for more books online because I really really miss the whimsical fantasy romance genre!! So now I’m wondering - should I read TLH (I probably will anyway), are they good? I know the books feature Tessa and Will’s children so how can I not read it!! But pls give me opinions thank uuu xx

Trying to find fanfics

I am looking for a fanfic where Jace, Isabelle, and some others attack Alec while he is escorting Meliorn to be interviewed. I remember that Alec was then publically whipped by the Clave as a punishment/result. I know that Jace, Izzy, and Clary get yelled at/disciplined by Alec as well.

I can't find this fic for the life of me, but I really want to reread it.

I would also love any recs for fanfics that have Jace, Clary, and Izzy getting disciplined for their actions. I would also appreciate recommendations of any other fanfics you guys think are good.

Clary and Jonathan (SPOILERS)

Can we just talk about this! I'm rewatching SH and i'm watching season 2 around when Jonathan starts his appearance, disguised as Sebastian, and i'm now remembering all the weirdness around the relationship between Clar and Jonathan, since when was so it so... Sweet Home Alabama. I just needed to share my weirded-out-ness!!!

Sebastian wears penguin boxers

I can't believe that Cassandra Clare, years ago, made an announcement like that, revealing that Sebastian Morgenstern wears penguin boxers! Can you imagine it? The formidable Sebastian Morgenstern, ruthless and without mercy, wearing boxers with penguin designs! When I found out, I burst out laughing, but now I love him even more

Where’s Raphael?

I’m halfway through season 3 of the show and Raphael is gone??😭 And I don’t want to Google too much because of too much spoilers. Raphael along with Alec and Seely queen are my favorite characters. Now Raphael was forced to flee because of izzy 🙄 and Seely queen rarely appears. I really hope none of these will quit too soon I mean there’s another season after this and they, especially Raphael, deserves a happy ending!☹️

Is it just me who is confused by Tessa’s marriages and Malec

In TID it’s clearly shown that when Tessa and Jem are to be married she’s wearing a gold dress, and I’m assuming it would be the same for hers and Wills marriage and I’ve also seen no mention of a wedding ring (I’m guessing she had the rune and it faded? Maybe). At the time of Tessa and Jems wedding it was believed she was a warlock and had no shadow hunter blood but in tales from the shadow hunter academy Magnus states that he won’t marry Alec unless they wear gold and shadowhunters can’t marry downworlders in gold. But Tessa was going to marry Jem in gold when they believed she was a downworlder not a shadow hunter. Maybe it’s just a silly plot hole or I’m forgetting something but it’s been bugging me how Jem and Tessa could get married but Mangus and Alec couldn’t (at the time).

am i going insane

So in my head, I recall some kind of scene either in the red scrolls of magic or the lost book of the white that has some kind of flashback to Magnus choosing his name, and I think Ragnor was involved and he was talking to him, but I can’t find it anywhere. I know Magnus was much younger. I don’t know if I completely made this up and it’s a fever dream or if it actually exists.

Help about 'City of Bones: Book of Quotes'

Hi! I'm a volunteer librarian from TheStoryGraph (an app/website to track reading). I am currently working on clarifying and checking all the books and extras from TSC. I was wondering if anyone had an edition of City of Bones: The Little Book of Quotes, and could tell me who is credited as the author? (DM me a picture of the credits page if possible) Thanks :)

Book present.

Hello everyone, maybe you can help me. I have a colleague who I really like, but who is unfortunately quitting her job at the end of this year. I would like to give her something as a goodbye present, but I don't know what. And that's where you come in. She likes, among other things, shadowhunters, but only the books. So my question to you now is: Are there any special editions of the books? I don't really know much about books or if there are any special editions. Thanks in advance. ^-^

Tessa makes me MAD

So I’m reading the infernal devices again after probably 10 years. The last time I read it I was in middle school. Right now Tessa’s behaviour with Will and Jem is FRUSTRATING me so much because she’s playing them both so hard. I know how the book series ends I remember everything and yet that doesn’t dampen the frustration. Will deserves so much better and so does Jem. God!

Edit: I’m also realising that what I hate is how Tessa seems to pity Jem, and to act as if she’s doing him this huge kindness by marrying him when her heart really belongs to Will. Because let’s face it; she loves Jem, sure, but she loves Will way more. And she would much rather be with him but she can’t abandon Jem. And yet she keeps leading Will on. And Jem acts like she’s the only girl in the world! I can’t stand it.

Just started

So I just finished episode one of shadowhunters and I already love it. I’ve never read the books sadly in the time that I found out about this show I have come across a few spoilers not any big ones(at least I don’t think). I knew some of the characters names and faces going into it from when I had searched it up. Magnus is already my favorite. I definitely wasn’t expecting to be thrown into it on the first episode like the second it started you get so much information just tosses at you. I definitely think I’m gonna like this show. I’ve watched shows like supernatural, Grimm(which I haven’t finished), and a few others. I know the show came out in 2016 and even without knowing that you can definitely tell, shows around that time just have a certain vibe to them I’m not sure what it is. Anyways I’m getting off topic but I love it so far

Parabatai - “is that you?”

I first got into TSC in middle school around 2014, at which point TMI and TID were the only main series released. I vaguely remember it was talked about in the fandom back then how in CoB, Clary hears Jace saying “Alec? Is that you?” at the Institute when he’s playing the piano, and that it was similar to how the first words Tessa hears Jem say in Clockwork Angel are “Will? Will, is that you?” when he’s playing the violin.

I stopped reading new TSC books after Lady Midnight came out in 2017 because life got in the way, but over the last few months I’ve finally reread everything and caught up with the new books I missed. Because I remembered the “is that you?” line for the Jace-Alec and Will-Jem parabatai bonds, I was on the lookout for if Cassie would write similar lines for the TDA and TLH main parabatai bonds, and I’m happy to say that I found them :)

I’m sure I’m not the first person to notice these, but I thought I’d share them anyway:

“Alec, is that you?” City of Bones, page 62

“Will? Will, is that you?” Clockwork Angel, page 100

“Julian? Julian, is that you?” Queen of Air and Darkness, page 19

“Matthew? Matthew, is that you?” Chain of Iron, page 375

I don’t know if it was intentional, because “is that you?” is kind of a common phrase that I think other characters in TSC even say to each other, but either way, I thought it was pretty cool haha

The acting in this show is horrible for the first few episodes

I’d never read the books or seen any information on the show so I didn’t have many expectations. But man the narrative and acting is so bad. It’s like I have no idea what the hell is going on and not in the good way. I hope later seasons are better because I’ve only watched two episodes and it’s pretty bad. I know a lot of people have already said this but I want reassurance that sticking through this will be worth it.

Edit: I realize that this will be all of season one not just the first few episodes

Thule aka Plot Hole Land

I honestly really disliked the Thule plot line. It was too similar to the CoHF trope where they go into another dimension and that’s the key to defeating the villain. Same thing (sort of) happened in Chain of Thorns… I just don’t enjoy the use of another dimension as a way to resolve a complex plot, it leaves too many plot holes and possibilities open. I think that Ash’ introduction would have worked without needing to dive into Thule and Janus to me seems so irrelevant… yet another evil version of Jace. I think this definitely cheapened the ending to TDA which was shaping up to be amazing.

The Eldest Curses

I’ve read every main series in the TSC except for the eldest curses (it thew me off that it was cowritten and each book is set in a different point in time), however, I want to start a reread of the entire TSC universe to prepare for TWP. Is TEC required reading? Is there anything in those books that significantly adds to the lore, or foreshadows Wicked Powers in any way?

Thoughts on TEC1

Hey, guys. I've been reading 2 to 3 books of The Shadowhunters Chronicles since 2018ish in release order and I was set to read The Red Scrolls of Magic this year. After doing it in July, I was underwhelmed by it, which was the first time happening to me after a Cassandra Clare book (including the novella collections). I was thinking that maybe I outgrew her books (I'm 32M), but I decided to give them another try and read Ghosts of the Shadow Market. To my surprise, I'm loved it, despite that awful first novella (Cast Long Shadows).

Now, looking back, TEC1 shows a shallow Magnus (which wasn't present in The Bane Chronicles), I could tell who was the Big Bad (which says a lot, since I'm usually oblivious to this type of reveal), there's a lot of brand names, the dialogs are ordinary for the lack of a better word (and Cassie gives anything but ordinary in her books), and the books feels too silly and YA-ish. There are some great moments in it, like the portrayal of early Malec relationship and Alec's insecurities with it.

Am I alone in this or anyone else felt the same? Does TEC2 (The Lost Books of the White) gives the same vibes or Cassie and Wesley Chu make things right? I fully intend to keep reading everything, but I want to adjust my expectations.

Thoughts on Sebastian Morgenstern

Many people hate Sebastian Morgenstern, and I believe one of the main reasons is that he is a very complex character, and understanding such characters is really difficult. We tend to hate them because it’s the simplest route; we don’t really understand how they can commit certain actions that seem inhumane and unjustifiable to us. Since we hate what he has done, we choose to hate him. However, I believe I understand him. Yes, he has committed atrocities and caused a lot of harm, but I don’t think the blame lies with him; rather, I think it lies with Valentine. He made him this way, and I’m not saying this to justify him, but because it is literally true. Valentine poisoned him with demonic blood and regarded him as a pawn even before he was born, like an experiment, not as a person, not as a child, but simply as a piece to manipulate for his own purposes. He knew that the blood would harm him, that it would make him inhuman, that nothing good would remain in him. Despite this, he chose to give it to him.

Some argue that the Downworlders, even though they have demonic blood, can be good, while Sebastian, having the same type of blood, is evil. This implies that he asked for it, that he was evil because he wanted to be. However, it’s not that simple. If Downworlders can have demonic blood and still be good, then Sebastian should be able to be good too. But the reality is different: he is a Shadowhunter, and there has never been a Shadowhunter with demonic blood. The forces at play are incompatible; a Shadowhunter cannot have both. Their nature requires only angelic blood. When demonic blood mixes with angelic blood, the result is devastating: Sebastian goes insane, loses the ability to have genuine thoughts, and becomes inhuman. For Downworlders, however, demonic blood is part of their essence; it is in their DNA, and it doesn’t automatically make them evil.

When Sebastian was born, even his mother hated him, believing that there was nothing good in him, considering him a monster. She couldn’t see him as her son, only as an abomination, something unworthy of life. I can understand Jocelyn’s pain, but I don’t understand how she could view her son that way. When a child has problems, you don’t abandon them and hope for their death; you help them. If they have a disability or a problem, you support them, not hate them.

Sebastian grew up with Valentine in a small cottage in Idris. He never had the chance to know anyone his age or to make friends. Valentine psychologically tortured him, telling him that his mother abandoned him because there was something wrong with him, that he was a monster and that no one would ever love him. In response, little Jonathan asked, “can you fix me?” Imagine a child asking his own father something like that. When I read that scene, I burst into tears. I don’t understand how Valentine could say something like that when it was entirely his fault. He also punished him with demon metal; his back was covered in scars. When something went wrong, he hurt him. Who knows how many other things he did to him, but we don’t know because we only know 1% of what Sebastian endured for 17 years. He had to endure psychological and physical torture from his own father, who was also his abuser. He could never have human contact with anyone, and as if that weren’t enough, Valentine left Sebastian alone to go to Jace, abandoning him for days and months—a child. Frankly, I can’t blame Sebastian for hating Jace so much. I’m not saying it’s right, but I can understand it. Imagine if your father preferred someone else to you, his own child, and constantly compared you to him.

And despite everything he went through—all the pain inflicted by Valentine, the abandonment by Jocelyn, and the lack of anyone in his life fighting for him, someone to cling to—he managed to move forward, to live for 17 years in absolute pain. In the end, when the blade laced with heavenly fire pierced him, it destroyed his demonic side, and only then was he able to find peace. For the first time, he felt light, because damon blood has finally gone him down both physically and mentally. I found peace in death; I don’t believe there is anything sadder than this. He could not study, he could not grow, he could not live his life. He did not have a good adolescence; he never had anyone. Honestly, he is my favorite character in all of TSC. I loved him so much from beginning to end, and no one will ever make me hate him.

Why did Jonathan actively allow Valentine to raise the angel? (Show)

I'm rewatching Shadowhunters and plan to get the books soon I've gotten to the part where we found out "Sebastian" identify we know he spared Valentine and they become allies i don't really know Jonathan goal in all this but Valentine is obviously kill all demons and downworders my question is why would Jonathan actively allow Valentine to do this when if he did get his wish granted Jonathan would also die as he has demon blood and Valentine didn't actively say spare his son.
