Fairwood country club bazar (missed connection) hi

Went to the bazar today to support my mom as she was selling her wares. Walked around with my sister in a pain in the grass shirt (rip since the last one post-pandemic). Whilst looking at the treat, I saw an extremely beautiful woman. She had exquisite Alaskan native style (apologies if I offend), whilst telling us the story of her grandfather and the recipe they used back home for their cookies-I could see the piercings and how they sparkled how they shone your personality. How your eyes danced as you spoke about your passions, your laugh and the way you would look towards me then look at your baked goods as I was showing my sister and dad all of the lovely creations you made.

The adorable mistake that was on the cookies with a misprint (that was rather a funny one).

On this first of December I just wanted to let everyone know that the Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate this month, is in the air everyone. Though I never caught her name I’ll always remember the pure beautify and the passion you showcased. It was at the fairwood golf course-I know the chances of meeting you again are slim, though if by chance you stumble upon this; your baking is exquisite and your passions and stories and just your personality brought the Christmas spirit in me after a long week.

Take care,

Guy in black pain in the grass shirt

Edit: it was forest fairy cookies

Is right on red allowed with red arrows?

Just moved to Renton this year, and Puget Dr x Benson Dr has the intersection pictured above.

It has a red light camera, but I see people turning from the inner and outer right turn lanes all the time.

Anyone know if right on red with a red arrow is allowed?

appreciation: an amazing downtown

Downtown Renton has expanded and changed so much. What used to be just a few businesses has bursted into a unique and eclectic downtown with something for everyone. Workers and locals are friendly and conversational—which you don’t get too much in Seattle— and the businesses themselves are amazing. I adore Boon Boona (ethiopian coffee is strong and flavorful and unique), Macadons (amazing macaroons and the vietnamese coffee is among the best coffee I’ve had, and I LOVE coffee) and not to mention the atmosphere of both are great. I love Common Ground Cupcake’s aesthetic of a cute wooden coffee shop and. I ADORE Esme and Elodie (just bought a friend a lot of gifts from here alone); literally a mix of mom clothes to sex toys to cute pink stoner materials to a nice self care selection). 8 bit arcade is a crazy gem, better than a lot of arcades in Seattle with a mix of old school and contemporary games. We know and love the crystal store and the creaky wooden floors of Apparition books and I could go on and on about the other lovely businesses but my point is I’m so happy to see the downtown become what it is today. I’m so happy we keep getting more businesses and they deserve love and appreciation. Renton has become such a gem in the greater Seattle area and I’m proud to be from here <3

Want to sell condo, looking for recommended agent

Might be moving to north Seattle soon. Was looking to see if anyone had a good local agent for selling a 1BR condo. Friends gave me a few Seattle recommendations but they were not interested in traveling that far and only wanted to sell 1 million + homes so it wasn’t worth their time

Appreciate the help!!!

Junk haulers

Any recommendations for reasonably priced junk haulers? I have a bunch of furniture, a standup freezer and other random junk to get rid of. I can’t move them out to the curb or anything, so they’d have to come in and get them.

What the hell is taking them so long to restore power to the traffic lights on Rainier Avenue?

The last five days have been hell to anyone driving down Rainier Ave to get on and off 405. Traffic is backing up for miles, even onto the highway, because a few key traffic lights are still out and now are estimated to be out for at least another TWO DAYS?? What the hell is taking so long??? Yes. I’m aware that there are plenty of other outages that they still have to fix, but how the hell are traffic lights on major thoroughfares not the first things to get addressed??? This is absolutely ridiculous and I encourage everyone affected by this to call Puget Sound Energy and demand that they fix these traffic lights immediately.

Edit: Well apparently I’m the only one in the world who drives in Renton. I guess I must’ve imagined all of the thousands of other cars backed up down the biggest roads in the area. Thank you guys for helping me realize this, I obviously must just have schizophrenia or something. My point was that not having working traffic lights is clearly a safety issue. Yeah no shit they should probably restore power to hospitals and shit first. And guess what, I’m sure they did all of that after one or two days. I made this post after power had been out for FIVE DAYS. Fuck me I guess, they definitely should focus on restoring power to the least populated, least visited areas in the middle of bumfuck nowhere first. Not like it’s important for emergency vehicles to be able to get through the miles of road obstructed by thousands of stopped cars.

Power Outlet Public?

Hello all. Hope you're r staying safe and warm. I have an Anker Solar Power Station. Has worked well to keep Wifi on and power a few small electronics. But I'm almost out of juice, and we don't have much sun to recharge it. I figured it would keep me up for a day or two but likely going to be until the weekend until we are back up.

Does anyone know of any open power outlets I could charge the battery at? It will probably take an hour to have enough juice to keep me up for the rest of the weekend.

*POWER IS BACK! Thank you for your responses. It helped a lot to be able to use the battery to keep my Internet and lights on at the very least!

Amazon SWA2 info

Hi folks, just wondering here if anyone in this sub works at the Amazon sort center off of 16th/Raymond behind Providence Campus. I'm always looking on the Amazon fulfillment job listing's site for shift openings at BFI5/BFI6/DSE7, but the fish ain't biting most day, usually just showing openings for Arlington or Sumner. I live in Renton and just wondering if maybe SWA2 uses a staffing agency to get new hires or an outsourced employment provider. It would be easy for me to get there, especially by bus considering I don't have a car to get to further away sort/fulfillment centers.

The future of Cheers

How long will the building at 201 Williams Ave S remain empty, unoccupied, no business in it? Does anyone here know the details of why it closed?

I only went there one time. It reminded me of the trashy bars that Spike/TruTV would select for Bar Rescue. The bartenders were wearing scantily-bare-nothing strips of fabric, the bar top was scratched and severely damaged, the drinks on the wall shelves appeared dusty and unused. There was a foul smell in the bar space. It was unpleasant. And this was in 2022 right after the pandemic rules were lifted.

Had an Accident, But No Help from Police - You're Really on Your Own Out There

A few months back, we were in an accident. As you can see, a truck ran a red light and hit both our car and the one next to us. When we reported it, the police said they couldn’t do much since no one died. Our video didn’t catch the other car’s license plate, so we asked if they could check the traffic light cameras—but it doesn’t look like they’re going to follow up. Just a reminder to stay vigilant out there—you’re really on your own.

What’s you ideal Renton?

Yesterday, someone asked how Renton will change over the next 10 years. To build off that post, what do you hope Renton looks like in 10 years time? What would you change if you could? What do you hope stays the same?

How do you think Renton will change in 10 years?

For the most part, I've lived in Renton since I was born. My family's been here for 40+ years at this point and it honestly hasn't changed much. Do you foresee Renton changing in the future? At times I feel it's quite stagnant here. Maybe people like it that way? Light rail or any meaningful public transit improvements is an impossible dream.

Youth soccer leagues?

Hello,

Looking for a youth soccer league for a 7 year old (soon to be 8) to play in. Looks like most leagues in the area are in the fall, but was curious if anyone knows of any winter/spring leagues. Would be looking for recreational level as the kid has never played organized sports before, so looking for more beginner level experience to see how he takes to team sports.
