Red Dirt has long been described as a mix of country, rock, folk, bluegrass, blues, Western swing, and honky tonk with a sprinkle of Mexican influences. Red Dirt Music is a genre that gets its name from the color of soil found in Oklahoma. The center of the music is considered to be in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with Texas Red Dirt music being the other half. Country music with an attitude.
Red Dirt Music is a music genre that gets its name from the color of soil found in Oklahoma. Although Stillwater, Oklahoma is considered to be the epicenter of Red Dirt music, there's a Texas Red Dirt sound as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dirt_(music).

Does anyone remember a website from about 20 years ago that had a ton of live recordings from various shows at the Wormy Dog in the early 2000s. I seem to remember red dirt being a part of the url. There were some great solo acoustic recordings of Jason Boland, Cody Canada, Stoney Larue, etc. I specifically remember Canada doing a live rendition of Train to Birmingham. I know it's a longshot but I'd love to track those down. I kick myself for bot downloading them at the time.
I've had people tell me some of my music falls into the red dirt country subgenre.
Question:
Since red dirt is so closely related to the region it originated from, is it disrespectful for a dude from Minnesota to use red dirt as one of the ways to describe my music?
Thank you for the feedback.
Another day of sitting in the queue and another day of nothing. Asked to fill out the same form as yesterday. So looks like they will be adding more shows.

Let's talk country music I am sick of new singers like Morgan Wallen singing super stereotype music with no substance or feelin. Let's use our honest opinion
First release by OKC folk band Compost Adjacent! Check them out. Absolutely incredible to see live with the stand up bass set up and the hand drums.
I’m trying to discover my sub genre since I make what I feel is what’s in my head and not really trying to copy anything.

I think it's about time everyone gets to know Jake Stringer. He has what it takes to be very relevant if you ask me. The album is called Just Happy To Be Here, came out back in November I believe. So, this is my song to represent Southern Missouri in the red dirt genre. Thanks for listening if you do.
Looking for writers for a Texas/ Red Dirt website/ magazine. If interested text me at 940-595-6702

My fiancé and I are looking for a first dance song for our wedding. We really enjoy this genre of music, and we know a lot of songs, but figured I would ask the group for help.
It doesn’t have to be super slow and can have a little speed to it!
Anyone have any suggestions? We love Whiskey Myers, Turnpike, Tyler Childers, and more!!
idk what this sub is but right on
I had no idea. Then things circled back around and my stepson gigged with him when starting out.
Small world
I saw a band several years back that was an opener. After the concert I downloaded their album on Apple Music and listen to it over and over but I’ve since stopped subscribing to Apple Music so I can’t see it anymore. I can’t remember the name of the band or the album. I do remember that most of the band members were from Missouri but the band was based out of Texas. But I remember one song was a play on the lyrics from “Good Hearted Woman” the lyrics of the chorus were something like “When daddy sang good hearted woman, and held her in his hands, he never thought he’d give her away, to a damned old good timin man”

I briefly heard a song a year ago or so and one of the lyrics have stuck with me however I can’t find the song…
The lyric goes something like this “I hear you’re working at the old BLANK of highway BLANK” or something close to that.
The context of the song is the writer is talking about a woman he used to know who is working at a strip club off of an old highway located in Oklahoma. I feel that it’s a Zach Bryan song however I know his collection well and it can’t be him unless I’m just missing it.
Do your thing Reddit!
I know the album has been scrubbed but does anyone know where I could find a copy of it? Road of life is the album that turned me on to WM. There’s a live version of TYA on YouTube but it just don’t hit like the CD did.
Hey folks, spending a couple of nights in St. Charles, MO. Where can I hear some real music? Despite New Englander. Thanks
