My attention has been on other genres for the last 10 years+, but lately I have found myself going back to some dubstep favorites and being drawn to a more droning, hypnotic style, well exemplified in Bar9's remix of Trooper by Rob Sparx, which has a thick, unwavering bassline and a somewhat aggressive synth that isnt too squealy / whiney or high pitched and distracting, overall with a strong dub influence. To me, this track is something melt under a hot sun to:
Rob Sparx - Trooper (Bar9 remix)
I think its the unwavering, droning basslines, big spacey atmospheric feel, non-brostep synths (the synths here are probably the limit of aggressive / harshness that Im open to), and sparser drum arrangements vs complicated breaks and fills. I appreciate any suggestions!
Do you have more recommendations please, this is such a vibe!
This one coming up next week, hope to see some of you there ! https://hdfst.uk/e117723
Every 1st of each month we'll have a thread to talk about what we enjoyed from the previous month and which releases you managed to get (not exclusively vinyl).
Anyway, did you managed to cop something last month? Did you miss a big one?
Hey everyone, my track Kali is out now as part of Rewind140βs 5k followers compilation, Iβll drop the free download in the comments below
Just dropped a new one guys, VFX done by myself (only took around 4 hours to get it right π€£)
Let me know what you guys think.
I've been stuck on deep/dark140 for ages and I'm kind of in a weird place where I think I need to listen to something more upbeat. I'd really appreciate tracks you like that are fun and happy, here are some that I used to love back in the day, kind of like eyebleach but for the ears ya know?:
Layering heavy wubwubs with drums and crazy squelches so that I can touch my bass. πΎππ
Lets talk about DJing and producing. But also, which tunes and mixes you enjoyed this week.
Some questions to get the conversation going:
- What did you liked this week?
- If you're a DJ or a producer, do you have any finished tune or work in progress to share?
- And as a bonus, do you have suggestions for the community?
Note: WIPs should be posted on these weekly threads only.
Woofah was a short-lived publication (fanzine?) that ran for just 4 issues, including pieces on dubplate cutting houses to grime and the police. You can tell it was a labour of love. Rated by Kode9, Blackdown, N-Type. Hope we'll see a comeback in projects like this!
