Please be smart everybody. Don't steal bikes. People that steal and deal with stolen bikes are straight scum. Use your discretion and let's stay safe and helpful.
If you do trade for beer/alcohol, please make sure the recipient is of legal age in your state/country.
Thanks to everybody for their input and help so far, lets keep it going!

Hi there,
I am writing on here in hopes somebody is able to assist me with acquiring an appropriate road bike to ride for a charitable cause this summer. The specific event I am referencing is 2020 Pelotonia in Columbus, OH.
If you haven’t heard of Pelotonia, it is a fantastic event! It was founded in 2008 with an objective of funding life saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. To date, Pelotonia has raised more than $195 million for research, earning more than $23 million dollars with over 7,000 riders participating in 2019 alone!
Riders from around the country pledge to cycle a certain distance ranging from 25 -200 miles in exchange for donations to The James Cancer Hospital. Each rider has a minimum donation goal they must achieve based upon the distance they select to ride, and fundraise to achieve this.
The Pelotonia website can be found here: https://pelotonia.org/
The Wiki for the event can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelotonia#Results
I have taken a personal interest in this event due to inspiration I have drawn from a family friends battle with a rare form of cancer who is currently the beneficiary of an experimental treatment being provided by The James Cancer Hospital. Without events such as Pelotonia for fundraising, her life saving treatment would literally not exist as it is SOLELY funded by this. Her doctor and his team ride the event every year to help fundraise as well. I want to do my part to give back, give thanks, and assist with ensuring others such as our close friend have the opportunity of life saving treatment being available and continuously researched.
This has lead to me reach out in hopes somebody is able to help. Currently, I only have a $100 wal mart schwinn that just isnt suitable for anything of this distance and don't have the finances to shop for anything at this point.
If nothing comes of this, that is more than fine as I have no real expectations. If at the most I inspire somebody else to join up and ride the event, I'd be more than thrilled at that alone.
I wish to thank you for your time in reading my letter and would strongly encourage you to consider a general donation to the event provided you do not already in some capacity if you have the means. The research and treatment being conducted at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, OH is on the cutting edge of cancer treatment and providing new life saving options for people who previously there were none.
Thank you!!
Hi all! I'm a former cycling enthusiast & a founding member of the biggest social cycling group in my city. I am also a single mom with two beautiful little humans, both of whom love to pedal; however, my youngest child is afflicted with a rare terminal genetic disease that affects everything but especially her little muscles so she cannot ride independently.
When she was younger, I would strap her into a weeride or my trailer on my old Trek 800, but that bike was stolen. Since then, stress/depression from having a special needs little one + medical bills + no biking have seen me gain too much weight and I really really miss cycling.
All I have now is a beloved, vintage motobecane. The rear axle is not sufficient to attach my trailer and my girl is 7 now, so I cannot use a seat.
If you guys could help me find something affordable to haul my kiddo behind or even something specifically for disabilities, I'd appreciate it. My oldest got a new hybrid for his birthday and I would happy cry if we could all get out on our bikes together again.
I can provide a link to a recent local news segment on my little one to verify.
Hello everyone! I am a Student working part time in the Bay Area, I am looking for a bike to get me to school and back which is about 6 miles and some hills.
I am not super savvy on bicycles, so im not quite sure what I would need, but as I said its mostly a commuter bike with some easy trails/forest biking.
I am 5'9 if that helps.
My wife and I just moved to the KC area with our three kids. I'm 30 and about 50 lbs overweight. My dad died when I was only two years old (cancer), and I don't want to do the same to my kids just because of a heart attack. I live within a few miles of my job, and would like to commute to help burn calories and get back to my high school weight. Unfortunately, my job is barely covering the bills right now, so it's just not in the budget. I have a bike shop nearby, and some friends that work there, so I can probably get a good deal if it needs a little work or a couple parts. Thanks in advance for your consideration!
Edit: Oh, almost forgot. My inseam is a ridiculous 28 inches or 71 centimeters (told you I was short). That would mean I need a seat tube length of about 48 cm in a perfect world (if I've done my sizing calculations right). My torso is mostly normal-sized, though, so I can make about any reach work. Also, I do have some back problems, so something with an upright seat position would be much appreciated. Anything's better than nothing, though.
Sob story ahead; feel free to ignore.
I'm pretty sure my dad is depressed.
He's been out of work for over a year now due to a rather severely herniated disk he got from his job (who, before tanking as a business, ran out of money to provide health insurance for the entire company for like a year.)
He's a childlike guy with boundless energy, and since he's been injured he's pretty much been trapped in his home with few good (non-painful/dangerous) ways to stay fit/active and get out of the house. I can tell he's hurting inside a lot; he looks so bored and numb all the time. He's become the complete antithesis of himself.
Running is a high-impact activity and that's out of the question. I read on a few forum threads by guys who have slipped disks/undergone a lumbar spinal fusion (which is a procedure my dad is hoping to get done) that they **love** biking, and it's really easy on their backs and has helped them build strength again.
My dad has **always** wanted a bike since he gave his away a decade-or-so ago.
I know no one looks at this subreddit anymore, and I hate begging, and if I could buy my dad a bike, I would. But I can't. I'm hoping someone out there can help him out.
He's a 5'5" male.
Thanks,
D.
I am ok at mechanical bike stuff and have access to tools through volunteering at bikerowave in LA. I am looking for a bike either ready to go or needing overhaul for a coworker of mine who is moving to area he wants to commute by bike. He's like 5'11 so figure can get something in 54-56 range working for him.
My old Real Classic 'dutch-style' bicycle has seen better days. I'm joining a friend on a section of the EuroVelo-6 and need a bike that I can pack out with supplies to last me the duration of the trip.
Willing to barter for Tarot readings ,crochet items, home cooked meals,house/yard work, dog sitting/walking, babysitting etc.
My friend is trying to get her shit back together and needs mode of transportation. Problem is I'm 5'6 she's 5'0 so my extra bike don't fit her.
So I moved here a little over a year ago and I'm tired of asking for rides. Finally found an amazing place to live and the only thing that's left is a way to get to work. I have two jobs, one in Downtown and one in Midtown. I just want to be self sufficient. Anyone got a bike?
My 2008 trek 2.3 recently broke. I have all the other parts (except the rear derailleur) so if you have either another road bike or frame set i could use it to make me a new bike. I live in México, and i am willing to pay for shipping.
Hey everyone, I've been riding on a bent rim for a couple weeks now, and it's only getting worse. It's at the point where it scrapes the frame, so it's not really ridable. I'm hoping someone on here has n extra 700c rear wheel I could replace mine with. I also have a few smaller bicycle wheels (24 inch, I believe) that I could exchange in return (I collect bicycle parts to keep my frankenbike up-and-running, so I may have a few other basic components if you want to trade for something else). Alternatively, if there's somewhere accessible within metro where I could feasibly fix my wheel that would also be awesome. Thanks!
As a teen and into early twenties I used to ride a nice mountain bike all over town that I inherited from a rich friend. It took jumping curbs, gravel, pavement, and never blinked.
Now I'm late-thirties, 300#, and looking to start again. Obviously I need something sturdy to handle my fat and I have no idea where to start. Doing some light reading I'm coming up with terms and brands I've never heard of before now.
Mostly I'm looking for advice as I can throw some money at this project, but I'm not wealthy by any means. Please come at me with your suggestions. If it matters for size, I'm 6' with a 30" inseam. Thanks for any/everything you can tell me.
Title says it all! Old friends have been talking about their bike rides more often, and I'd love to get in on the action.
If no one has a bicycle to gift near me, but you know of any good local stores or deals, hit me up anyway - I've heard of Halcyon over off 12th but that's about it.
Thanks!
I had my bike stolen on Sunday :( (see post history)
I picked up a cheap bike on craigslist so I would at least have something to ride while hoping my bike is found.
I had just got Candy 7's as a wedding present about a month ago and fell in love with riding clipless.
I have my shoes and cleats but don't have pedals anymore, if anyone has some they don't use I would love to have them. Eggbeaters or Candy's are fine not picky, just hoping to get some clipless pedals again.
Thanks!
My wife and I are looking to get into bicycling on some nearby trails, just a hobby we can do together and maybe get into shape. But I haven't had a bike since I was a teenager. Just wanted to see what was out there. I've found a couple on some local facebook groups (unfortunately nothing came up for craigslist), and I've messaged the sellers. But I found this sub and figured why not give it a shot?
Also any information about other places I could look for a bike would be just as useful (we're planning on checking out the local thrift stores in the next couple days)!
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out, I need a couple of shims for my Sora front derailleur that will take it from 31.8 to 28.6. I've checked with LBSs in my town, and neither had anything.
Never knew this sub existed, worth a shot I guess!
Been riding for a year on an old MTB I rescued from a dumpster that is wearing out and is slow.
The problem is this is a college town and cheap bikes sell instantly, no-one seems to be giving any away, and to be honest I couldn't even afford/justify spending cash on an old bike right now, rent is challenging.
So if you like the idea knowing your old bike will be used by someone every day who will be grateful, that's me. I will also "pay it forward" by donating the old MTB to someone else who needs a bike.
I need a smaller frame, maybe 51-54 max I guess?
Hi All,
I have a friend who ives in Panama City beach, FL who has fallen on very hard times. He's just getting back on his feet (was homeless) and has an apartment and full time job. He told me the other day he's walking 40 minutes to work every day and leaves around 4:30am. I want to do him a solid and give him a bike I have (I have a very nice Fuji road bike that has gone unused for a couple of years). However, shipping the bike will be too expensive.
Here's my request: If someone can donate a bike to my friend, I will donate mine locally. PM me if you think you can help.
Thanks in advance.
Just had a long time low budget customer get his 70's Nishiki road converted to touring bike stolen. He's got a lot into the bike emotionally. Finished a 3,000 mile tour a month or so back and dropped a few hundred on a new wheelset, tire, shifters, chain/freewheel, stem and bar tape. He's been saving $ to do the southern tier route.
Would love to find him a similar bike. I will pay to have it shipped. Don't really need the wheels unless they're nice. Will ship smaller and cheaper.
Hello fellow redditors. When I moved into my new apartment with my GF a couple weeks ago, her parents brought us both bikes that they had sitting in their garage. I made a pledge to be more active, so I started riding to work, as opposed to taking public transportation. I locked the bike up outside my office one day after about 2 weeks of riding to work, and when I left for the day it was gone. It wasn't a great bike, and had a shitty cable lock so I learned a bit of a lesson.
After that happened I was super pissed. My friend had a really nice 1 speed that he never used he sold to me for half price, around $300. I bought a kryptonite lock to make sure the same thing wouldn't happen again. Low and behold 3 weeks later, I go out for lunch and check on my bike like I always do, because I'm paranoid from the first time, and it's still there. I get back from about a 20 minute walk and it's gone.
So generous bikers of reddit, i ask, if you have a bike that you are not using that you want to go to a good home, I am your man. And if i get this third bike stolen i pledge to never bike again.
I just got a bicycle so that I can ride with my pops on the weekend, and get to community college. I love this bike to death, but unfortunately the tubular tire just blew. I never even heard of a tubular tire, and the seller on craigslist never told me about it. If anyone could help me out I would be extremely grateful. Any information would also help. Thanks.
I keep getting these $5 Off coupons but I already have a couple of Road ID bracelets. Valid for 24 hours on purchases of $20 or more.

I am looking for either a front or rear bike rack to put on my older 27" tire road bike to make my commute easier and more comfortable. If anyone has one to they are not using it would be appreciated!
I recently acquired Thule square bar roof racks for my car for really cheap ($100 for ~ $600 MSRP) and am now looking for a bike carrier that will fit my 2013 Trek Marlin (21" frame, 29er). I am very limited on funds, so buying new is out of the question and I haven't seen anything on Craigslist in the past few weeks. If you have one that you no longer use ever, or one that needs some minor TLC (or major TLC, as long as nothing needs to be completely replaced), I'd be forever grateful.
Hello my name is David and I'm new to baton rouge, I came down here for treatment for alcoholism after a very bad couple of years that has left me without a license or car for that matter. I am trying to put my life back together. I have recently moved out of a sober living on my own and have been getting a ride from a friend from the program to my new job. He will be taking another job soon so his hours will prevent me from getting a ride with him. I take uber when I can but it gets expensive fast, I'm uncertain what I can do to repay I could spare a few hundred dollars or so even enter in a payment agreement of some sort. Thank you for reading.
I am in need of a bike trailer to attach to my late 90's Specialized RockHopper. Any standard linkage will probably work, or i will make it work. Damaged? Fine. Old and weathered? No problem. I am happy to make repairs to get it running. If you live near Chico and know of an unused bike trailer, hook it up! We can talk barter / work trade if it goes that way; i'm happy to give back in any way that i can. I just really need some cargo space to get me on the road.
Thanks for reading this. Enjoy the Ride ~
I honestly know they are on the more expensive side, but I have a bad left knee, from bowling, and I'm just getting back into cycling, and I'm currently looking for a job, I just have no way to go looking for jobs, with out the aid of another person and their car.
Sidelined by two torn retinas, and recovering well. Was, and am, still planning on attending Barnett bicycle institute to learn to bild bicycles. Looking for a L/XL frame roader with disc brskes, or that I can add them to. I want to be sn avid roader, and builder, for many reasons-maknly a new csreer move.sThanks forany help.
I've wanted to get a bicycle for years for health and enjoyment but haven't been able to afford to spend $190+ for an adult bike all in one go. I looked for a bicycle program in Salem like some other cities have (to encourage cutting down on emissions, etc) but apparently we have nothing like that here. I'm hoping posting on here will help. I'm 5'7, if that means anything, and I want to avoid the 'rear-up' bikes; I've never felt comfortable on those so I'm looking for a comfortable seat that is level or lower than the handlebars. I intend to be mainly on pavement but I don't need a light commuter bike or anything. I miss the ruggedness and versatility of the mountain bike I had when I was a teen but I'd even consider a cruiser although I feel it's style might be more limiting. Thanks for your time!
I have a single speed that needs a home. It was originally a polo bike, and kinda goofy but a fine ride. 700 rear and 26 front. The fork has cantis set up, and the rear is drilled for brakes. Headset and wheels are fine, bottom brakes has a weird noise but feels fine. Probably want to replace it soon. Has a Terry butterfly seat, which feels great for women's anatomy. Arrows, bows, and other bikes not included.
