On Wednesday night, a driver led police on a multi-county chase overnight before opening fire, unaliving K-9 officer Titan and injuring a Coweta County sheriff's deputy.
"K-9 Titan has served the Coweta County Sheriff's Office for over five years. During his time, Titan has successfully located several missing persons, successfully identified illegal narcotics as well as assisted in the successful apprehension of multiple offenders," the Coweta County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
RIP Titan
Illegal license plate holder. Not only that but it's so tinted that I cannot even read the plate and I am right behind him.
Also super dark tints, probably darker than the legal limit.
Hi, I have a situation on my hands and I’d like to figure out a better way to handle it.
My sister is being threatened by a girl whose family member claims to be in the police department. This girl's family member allegedly pulled up my sister's address records to try and find out where she lives, with the intent of going to her house to "talk" to her while in uniform.
I called the county non-emergency line to check if any officer was dispatched to visit their homes, and they confirmed that no one had been sent or planning to.
Despite that confirmation, my sister reported that the girl’s family member came to visit while they were out and said they would come back later.
My question is, I know this situation isn’t legal, especially since they have no case, no reports, and no warrant, but their family member is going along with this out of pride. What should I do? If they do come to her door, what should my sister do? I want to report this, as it feels like straight up harassment.
Hello everyone,
I just got out of the military after 10 years and 4 deployments, all of them in the 3/75th Ranger Regiment, now I’m awaiting my physical/written test and if everything goes well then I am on track to attend the upcoming class.
How is the Academy, can someone explain the basics, the tip of the iceberg if you will, without violating any NDAs, just basic questions. I hear it is 6 months long and is it at all similar to the Army basic training? do you reside in the barracks? what are the day to day tasks? Obviously basic training is way shorter and consists of 3 main phases, is it similar? Is it like basic training treatment (drill sergeant attitude etc) ?
I can’t seem to find any videos on YouTube regarding the academy, I’ve seen hundreds of police department, sheriff and even military trainings however nothing about DPS. I like to be fully prepared on everything I do and research every little thing before doing it, I like to know what I’m up against.
My main questions are concerning the academy, one step at the time, I don’t want to hear “oh you’ll be at the border or don’t do it” I’m already dead set on it and I could care less where they send me. I’m single and don’t have anything better to do.
Thanks all!
Hi ProtectandServe!
This is my husband's first year as a sergeant, and he has tasked me with helping him figure out / coordinate gifts for the guys on his shift (6ish people).
He had a few ideas (engraved coffee tumblers, pocket knife), but I thought maybe y'all might have some suggestions of things you've given / gotten from previous supervisors that you really enjoyed, and not just some random crap. Any advice is appreciated!
I worked in law enforcement for two years. Until I had a friend mention a federal position doing electrical work where I would make 15k more a year and some other benefits as well. I took the job and it is okay. It is mostly just a desk job where I do some preventative maintenance on systems to make them continue to work. I'll end up with a salary of around 110k a year. The flip side is I'm not happy with it. I'm not unhappy either, but I was always happy to go to work in law enforcement. My department pay was good enough for me to have a house and raise my family with a good pension. Anyway, just talk me out of or back into it.
Edit: I have kept my license, and my department would take me back.
Greetings regulars and guests.
A few days ago, a story about a use of physical force by an Oklahoma City Police Officer, on a 70 year old community member, started making news.
As is always the case, when controversial or notable stories arise, we cover them here, permitting adult, rational, and fact based conversation. That, and *not* stance on this issue, is how we consider and moderate comments.
We've had about a dozen people attempt to submit this story - all their posts were filled with hate, snark, vitriol, and name calling. And that's not how healthy dialogue starts.
This will be our lone megathread on this incident:
Nearly all comments will receive mod review before appearing. If you can't behave like an adult, your comment will never show, and you'll be banned. Don't bother.
Police officers of Florida or from neighboring states near Florida, do you have any stories about dealing with Florida men and women you would like to share for some laughs?
Hi there! I am a 33 female currently working in an office setting. I have recently been considering a career change & a local PD near me is hiring. I have some college, but no degree. I did not realize you do not need a degree for PD.
A little bit about myself- i have always been interested in the field, but due to my living situation & upbringing, I was always the kid working 2-3 jobs to pay the bills & college believed i made just too much money to qualify for any financial aid.
In addition, I never considered myself as physically fit enough to take on the academy. Over the last 2 years, I've lost over 60lbs and am active daily. I run half marathons and train for them, & I take HIT classes a few times a week. Although I'm in my 30s, I feel like I'm in my prime and could now be successful in the academy. I am not concerned with the financials of leaving my job to go to the academy as I have the means to do this right now.
I want to send my resume over, but my resume won't have anything to do with the job and will have to solely rely on my cover letter being attractive for a call. I also fear my age may be a factor, even though 35 is the cut off.
At the end of the day, I am all about serving the community and making my life feel more purposeful. 13 years in an office setting is not fulfilling to me and while I'm still young(ish), I think I still have the option to jump ship and take on something I actually want to do. I've spoken to a few people about it, & they have been encouraging and think I would do great.
Any tips, suggestions, thoughts?
How’s it going,
I’m prior service, been about 4 years working in the IT field/ Cybersec and not really liking the aspect of sitting behind a desk and the lack of camaraderie.
I’ve been looking into becoming a city cop and just wanted to know, are there any cities that have some sort of cyber crime department that I can work up towards?(Street Cop for a few years then transition into a detective in that realm, for example)
I know federal level (FBI), has a lot of roles like that but I rather stay at the city level.
There's several of these threads all around but I just haven't found the Art Vandalay style fake job that works for me.
The last big thread was about a year ago. Saying you work for sanitation is like saying your work for State Department but everyone knows you work for the CIA. Time to freshen up my fake resume and move fake jobs.
I'm retired and I dont want people to bother me. Any ideas on new fake jobs to tell people that would be geared towards retirement. I'm fairly young and if I tell people what I did, it's hit or miss. If I tell them I'm retired, I've gotten downright hostility from some people.
Which in turn makes me tell them, "you could have gotten hired, missed holidays, worked midnight shifts, and picked up dead bodies. I doesn't take an Einstein."
But by the it's already a negative encounter.
Best job for making people think I'm busy all day?

I am a 20 year old (male) 3rd year undergrad at Cornell. I have been thinking about my career options a lot recently and I want to do something where 1. The work is interesting 2. I can make an impact and 3. I can make a decent living. I have a strong aversion for working for a big corporation/traditional office job. As such, I have been thinking a lot about the possibility of working in law enforcement. I wanted to ask for any kind of advice in regard to exploring the field and making informed decisions.
Hello, I'm new to this subreddit so I don't know if this is where I'm supposed to post, but I have a question for a police case I started.
TLDR: I caught my brother-in-law on camera planting a recorder in my room multiple times, is this prosecutable? Please read below for more info.
Some backstory: People who reside in my home are me (mom), my three children (two of which who are minors), and my brother-in-law (adult) and his wife (adult). My ex husband used to reside in this home before being kicked out due to a social services case, for the protection of my children. In this same social services case, my brother-in-law and his wife were also barred from communicating with my children without my supervision because of their abusive language.
Ok, now the case. So, a few days after this social services plan was carried out, I found an audio recorder behind my TV. I immediately suspected my brother-in-law because of his past actions and behavior, but I wasn't sure of it. So, I did what I found to be the best course of action, which was hiding my phone in my bedroom to record who would enter and have contact with the recorder. I didn't just put this phone though. I placed my sons phone as well, to record what was happening behind the TV (to see the suspects hand grab the recorder). Needless to say, both phones captured the culprit that night in high resolution, and surprise surprise, it was my brother-in-law. He was caught by both cameras reaching behind the TV taking the recorder, twice.
So I just want to know from you guys, do you think that this will be prosecutable? If so, what will they charge him for, and what will the punishment be? Any comments or help is very greatly appreciated! Thank you so much in advance! 😊😊😊
Edit: yes I want him charged and gone out of the house, do I need to do a civil case for this? We co-own this house btw. I also cut down my question a lot.
does anyone know if a taser can puncture a tire
I’ve been around LE for years, worked in complementary roles. After many talks with my wife, I think I want to apply for a few departments locally, especially since they all know me.
Do police departments have any use for a 40 yr old rookie? I’m physically fit, and a firearms instructor for 15 years. Any chance or did I miss my window of opportunity?
This is a safe place for humorous and asinine encounters for all types of law enforcement. Police international security, military, etc. I know you all come across all kinds and ask situations. #stupidcriminals #funnyhuman
I’ve been in healthcare for over 10 years and I’m really looking for a change. Any thoughts?
