I'm so excited! Finally it came out! I waited so long for it.

Firstly, I couldn't find a English subbed version, so I had to watch it without subtitles (I just couldn't wait!). I was very pleased to know my Japanese is now good enough for me to follow a whole episode without subtitles :)

I'm think it's going really good. Can't tell much from the first episode but I already find some depth in Uta. The pace also seems quite nice atm (though, again, can't tell much from just one episode).

Purirun is so cute! I knew they (still don't know their gender yet...) would be the silly type. I do think they could be quite annoying at times since they seem like that type, but it's adorable when they try to use their cuteness to make Uta help them (and usually succeed as well XD). The Momotaro style meeting is also really unique and I love it :D

Something I noticed is how there are Sakura trees everywhere. I just found it a really nice detail.

I'm so happy to have great fights again. I didn't mind the ones (or lack of) in Wonderful so much but it's great to see good fights. From just the scenes in the opening I can already see they're gonna be amazing.

I also got the part about the CGI attacks right. I personally love the idea of performing to the monster then purifying it with the actual attack. The CGIs are also the good kind (the one's that actually look natural) so I love the attacks.

Overall the first episode did not disappoint. I can't wait for more :D

I'm asking myself right now how much space the idol thing will take in her development. She didn't outright stated that she wants to be an idol, even if she behaves kind of idol-ish, which separates her a bit from Haruka and Sora (they stated their respective dreams outright in their first respective scene), but I still think that we could be on a similar road with Uta.

Having a kind of vague goal for themselves, discovering on their journey what the essence of their dream really is (which probably would be something like "share your happiness with others" in this season), adapt and achieve.

Do you already have any ideas where Uta's character arc could lead to? Do you think that Uta is on the way that I have outlined, or do you see her character to be something completely different?

Unless it's a duo, the cures always come around 1 by 1 across different episode and then in later seasons they started having bigger gap between those introductions. Whereas in other shows like Super Sentai and Kamen Rider they would just have throw them all in at once. What could be the big difference here?

What if the main villain, you know the boss of the other villains, is revealed to be an idol, or maybe an idol who retired, the precures adored so much? I doubt this would be the case but I think would be an interesting plot twist.

I've watched the first episode now and I loved it. Rambling below.

First off, I'm gonna love the soundtrack. I ADORE the first 10 seconds of the opening theme and the ending theme is insanely catchy, it's going on my playlist for sure. The background music is very jazzy with lots of saxophone (I think it's saxophone). I could still hear one or two songs recycled from Wonderful Precure but I can forgive that.

The designs are charming enough; I like Uta's outfit, especially the double-layered blue skirt. Her Cure outfit is my second favorite after Cure Wink. I was worried the plaid-pattern would get in the way of the animation quality but the fight scene was great, if a bit fast-paced.

Speaking of pace, the episode went by really quickly. It had a bigger focus on comedy than I thought and I'm happy that the comedic bits hit for me. It looks like it isn't gonna indulge in the idol gimmick; this episode didn't, at least. The song and dance "idol" portion of the episode is the finishing move after Cure Idol beats the monster into submission; the monster then cheers her on from the crowd while waving glowsticks lmfao.

Idol Precure looks like it has some really high production value (thank you, Wonderful!). My only complaint is that the transformation scene focuses too much on the toy; when Uta transforms, it's too fast for the eye to see because it wants to show off the toy to the audience. I'll have to look at gifs and screenshots to appreciate the individual frames.

Modern Precure seasons are already hyper-focused on the toy in the transformation scene and Idol Precure unfortunately continues that trend. It can't be helped though; at the end of the day, this is meant to sell toys to children and I'm not the target audience for buying toys anymore. ^^;

Our lead Cure, Uta Sakura, is energetic and spirited (as per usual) but her energy fits in with the idol theme of the season, so I think she's justified. She's really normal lol. After 2 seasons of non-human lead Cures, her human bafflement at the weird predicament she finds herself in is refreshing.

Calling it now: this season is gonna become one of my favorites.
