Decided to try out the new underwater dive sites, and I'm definitely liking them. But I've noticed that the boxes in them seem nearly impossible to loot while underwater, they rocket up to the surface so quickly as soon as they're untied. Even if I can manage to activate one after untying, it quickly moves out of range before I can loot much from it. I've tried positioning myself right above them to see if that would prevent them from zooming to the surface before I could loot them, but it didn't.

With this happening, I haven't really been able to figure out a good system for looting them easily. If I just wait until they're all up on the surface, I find myself losing some of them, I can't locate some when I get up there. If I go up and then back to the dive site after each crate, it depletes my oxygen quite a bit more at each dive site. I've looked up videos that show players doing dive sites, and their crates don't seem to be moving nearly as fast when they untie them, although these videos show gameplay prior to the recent change. I don't know whether this is a recent change with the new dive sites, or if I'm doing something wrong, as I'm a fairly new player. Anyone familiar with the new sites know whether there's anything I can do better here in order to have a better diving experience, or am I just gonna have to go up and back after each crate?

Sometimes I reel a fish all the way in, the line DOESN’T snap, but there’s nothing on the hook when it comes up. Bait gone, no fish, line not snapped, pointing at bobber the whole time.

Am I doing something wrong?

Everything has been fine up until now. I died, and it won’t let me respawn. I’ve tried my bags, and random respawn. After about a minute of clicking on respawn, brings me back to menu saying “timed out”.

Restarted PC, restarted Rust, verified integrity of files, did a speed test, everything is fine. It still won’t let me respawn. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Last night me and my duo got on a server, got there fresh into the wipe, established a base. It had a shit ton of honeycombing, nearly everything was metal, multiple layers within the base to keep tc and loot and such. Spent about 8 hours straight to get it there. Only to realize this morning we had a fatal flaw. The doors. They just burrowed a way through the doors right into the base. Had about 5 or so doors that lead from the outside to the TC. What can I do better? Any tips or videos to point me in the right direction?

I was thinking about potential items that could be a cool addition to the game and I thought up something where you could temporarily see enemies through walls, maybe not see their whole outline like an ESP but rather blips through the wall to signify where they are or if there are any people online in the base at all. It would be kind of similar to the HB-5 Cardiac Sensor that Pulse uses in R6. This might be OP and not wanted but it could be a very rare item you get from heli. Helicopters in real life, especially military ones, often have LiDAR scanners on the front to scan the terrain below and I think having a very slim chance of that component still being salvageable from a heli crash, would be interesting. Let me know your thoughts.

Need help with these old specs. This new update has me FEENIN and of course my pc is fucked.

My motherboard fried, at least im pretty sure as ive done all diagnostics and cant get it to power on after returning from a vacation. I believe my cat played a role in this as hes always jumping on my pc and turning it on/off 🫠 my psu still has power, and ive tried another new one.

Ive resorted to pulling a REALLY old pc out of storage while i get my new pc up and running, and it works fine for certain games that arent demanding, like Rocket League. However, i really want to get back into Rust.. and id like to be able to have as best of graphics i can while maintaining a decent stable fps. Kinda shooting for the stars but heres my specs:

I can get rust to run around 80-100 fps in non demanding areas and isnt terrible regarding performance, but in terms of visibility it is definitely not ideal. Especially since I got used to the graphics i ran on my newer pc. I was wondering if i did a whole reset on my computer and reinstalled windows and cleaned my drives if i could expect it to run better with higher graphics, assuming i delete all apps and only install Rust onto my SSD. Right now i have about 200GB free on my SSD and less than a terabyte left on my HDD. Theres many apps and files that i feel are cluttering my pc thus impacting performance. Im not too savvy when it comes to computers so thats why im hoping to get some answers here.

Been building this decent solo base design for the past 4 months on official and I’ve never gotten raided once. I found this starter design online and it turns into a pretty strong base when you expand. It even has a staircase bunker design that’s impossible to grenade out or get past without breaking the bunker. All I’ve wanted is a group to rocket raid me so I can see how well it holds up but never get offlined or onlined. I usually build next to Air Field, Sewer Branch, Arctic Research, or Ferry Terminal on purpose to get more attention. I’m happy no one attempts to raid but also disappointed. Any advice?

i don't know how to explain it, but this gameplay is literally not the same anymore. That 'authentic' rust feel is totally gone now, this new world update demented the game to a whole new level, im pissed off... i wasted so much in skins and have 2k hours plus now rust is totally unplayable for me, observe the fire effects/ cliffs/lightning... some weird 'shinyness', its like some cheap knockoff rendering was placed in the game engine- like the game was bought out by some different company and this is what was released..., can we please get official servers from different years/ releases? please facepunch allow older versions of this game to be hosted on official servers...

After the update, I can’t place the electrical components on the lower half of walls? Just me or a bug?

I have 3.6k hours and lost my best ever start. I had no chance for an outplay. I put down a 1x1 and go out to chop wood for the first time. I got killed by a full kit mp5. I go back out with an eoka and manage to kill him. Great start. I need a furnace now asap so I could put a metal door down.

I heard a bear so I go out to kill it with my bow. Chased the bear and killed it. Heading back to base and ran into another full kit farming with a jacky and using a camper. He killed me as I was naked bow. Fuck, there goes my low grade. I’m close enough to base so I go back out with the full kit mp5 I had just won. I manage to kill the farmer.

I know he was using a camper so I camp his body and wait before looting. He comes back with another kit (tommy) and I manage to put him on timer. Check his body and bag, they’re both COMPLETELY full of farm (no low grade though as it’s in the camper). I have enough for my entire base. I manage to depo. I need metal asap for a metal door and wood to upgrade base. I heard another bear so I decided to kill it first before getting wood, I kill it, and as I’m about to get in my base, the original guy kills me as he was doorcamping.

I spawn on an outside bag to maybe trick him into thinking I came from another base, but he’s already gone. There’s a raided base nearby and I had found some fire arrows and enough low grade/wood to craft to make 2 more so I could break tc. I go out with the fire arrows to break tc so I could move in before he raids. It’s getting dark, perfect timing, I can move my loot at night. Fucker is doorcamping again. Kills me with the door close. I spawn in base and hear the mollys. The second the door breaks, he throws in nades.

There goes my best start because I hurt a guy’s fragile ego to the point that he was doorcamping a fresh start as a full kit. This all happened in roughly 15min. I had no breathing room whatsoever to properly secure my base. Why must my best ever start end this way 😭.

Me and a buddy are planning to come back to rust after multiple years, our favorite build was to take a cave with a bucket lift, hqm the entrance and just jump down to the bucket guarded by a few auto turrets if we wanted to go back to base.

Is that kind of a build still doable?

While in rust lobby in server choosing my temps , gpu usage skyrocket and also my fans are going crazy , It happening also while loading but when I'am in game it come backs to normal 30% on gpu usage and normal temps (Temps are going from 40 to stabel 80 while in menu and loading

Since rock bases are back, there is a high chance your garage doors will not have visible rollers (the cylinder at the top), and if you place a new garage door in a frame with an invisible roller, and the door is opened without a code lock, the door can seemingly get stuck in the open state with you unable to place a code lock on it.

I messed up 2 doors this wipe myself, however you can still place and pair a door controller with the door by looking at the frame, then just power up that bad boy and send a signal to the close portion and once the door comes back down you can now place your code lock :)

Not sure how many people already know about this but since rock bases are back and alot of ppl are gonna be building in them i thought i'd share.

I always wanted rust, and its on sale right now, so is it worth buying if i can only play 1-2 hours on weekdays and max 4 hours on weekends?

update: bought it, played 2 hours, refunded it. its not for me

Once again I come back to this amazing community for advice. I am looking into upgrading my RAM as I enjoy playing on public servers, but the fps drop when next to some bases or even close to highly populated areas has become an issue for me. Currently, I have 16GB DDR4 SDRAM PC4_21300) + 16GB DDR4 SDRAM PC4_25600 (Total 32GB, and not even matching sticks so :( ). However, I was looking into possibly getting:

VENGEANCE® LPX 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit - Black SKU: CMK64GX4M2E3200C16

• (Less expensive but with a speed of 3200MHZ)
• ( I could get 2 of these kits for 128GB for the price of the other kit)

or

G.Skill Trident Z Royal F4-4000C18D-64GTRS 64GB 2X 32GB DDR4 4000MHz Memory Module

• (Quite a bit more expensive but with a speed of 4000MHZ)

Therefore, I was wondering if the extra speed was worth it to fix my issue (Maybe Rust would not even use it anyway)
