Looking to support local entrepreneuses, I’m not hairy at all (blonde) but my eyebrows have become crazy since entering peri. Looking for a good local woman to support who can also deal w fine darker blonde hairs without killing my main brow. Thx!
Hello! :)
I'm looking for for a place to get my eyebrows threaded. I'm new to Van, but in the past, I've had some bad experiences with estheticians insisting on thinning them or arching them, so I would greatly appreciate any leads on salons who listen and keep your eyebrows thick and natural-looking!!
Thank you!!!
title? i just started researching nursing programs and this is the shortest program in BC that i know of, how easy is it to get employed compared to other programs like BCIT, Langara, Douglas, etc. and how are grads equipped for the job? does UBC bsn have disadvantage in any way?
Edit: i have a master's, do they care about low bachelor's gpa?
Hi. I was wondering if anyone has a promo code for BMO 2025? I want to upgrade to a full marathon, but that removes my early bird participation cost. Thank you
Seeing ads on social media for Jetson Home heat pumps. Can't find any reviews online. Anyone used them?
Hello!
I am hoping to make reservations at a more upscale restaurant with my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day. The problem is that she’s very particular in the few foods that she eats. She only ever orders chicken strips, fried chicken burgers, samosas, or chicken tacos. I am looking for a fancy restaurant that also happens to serve fried chicken sandwiches… I know it’s kind of a long shot, but any suggestions would help. Thanks!
Feels like a random shot in the dark asking this but I live near Rainbow park downtown and for the past few months there's been a constant ringing noise outside and I can't figure out what it is. It drives me nuts and it rings literally 24/7, is anyone else hearing it? It kinda grows loud and then quiet for a couple seconds at a time.
And I'm sure it's not tinnitus BTW lol
Looking for dart competitions, tournaments, and or leagues! Thanks :)
Have to film a video journalism assignment tomorrow. Original plan just fell through and the snow messed things up for me. Looking for ideas if anyone has a suggestion.
I have been thinking about Renfrew heights as a place to live because I want to be in between North Burnaby and South Vancouver. What do you think?

ICBC Settlement Question: How Long Should I Expect to Wait for Funds?
I hope someone can help me clarify the situation. On January 13, my lawyer contacted me about an ICBC settlement offer, which I accepted. He gave me an estimated 2-month timeline for when the funds would arrive.
However, something has come up in my life, and receiving the funds earlier would be incredibly helpful. From what I’ve found online, the typical timeline looks like this: Week 1: Acceptance processed and any outstanding balances reviewed Week 2: Settlement approved and cheque issued. Week 3: Cheque likely in transit or being processed by the lawyer. If it hasn’t arrived yet, it should be very close. Week 4: (ongoing week) Funds clear in the lawyer’s trust account (usually 4-5 business days). Final Step: Lawyer sends the balance to me.
It’s been 20 days since I gave my acceptance, and while I did send an email to my lawyer 5 days ago asking questions (e.g., whether I received more than the initial offer, if the cheque was issued, when I can expect funds), I haven’t received a response yet. Maybe I sent the email too soon, or perhaps the cheque hasn’t even been issued yet.
My question is: based on your experiences, is it likely that I’ll receive the funds earlier than the 2-month estimate, or is it more realistic that it will take the full 2 months? I understand there can be delays, but I’d love to hear if others have had a similar experience with ICBC settlements.
I plan to follow up with my lawyer next week if I don’t hear back by then, but any insights are appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
I am watching a musical at QE theatre, but the tickets I got are the far right section of balcony right. Around rows 178-184, so VERY back:((
It was the only seats I could get, but I'm worried that the experience would be bad. I went to viewmyseat.com and I saw seats near it but not exactly.
Has anyone gotten tickets near that area? How bad is it?
I'm already planning to bring binoculars but I'm wondering how much of the stage will be blocked from that corner.
I am moving to Vancouver and want some suggestions of neighbourhoods to search some rent for a couple that needs to go every week day downtown.
Greetings
I’m in my twenties, and I have been here for a while now, but it has been impossible for me to date someone or find a girlfriend. I hate dating apps, but I still tried them just because, and nothing worked there. Where should I go? What should I do? How should I go about it?
I’m good-looking and attractive—not the most handsome man, but I take care of myself. I don’t need anything, yet it has been impossible to get into a relationship.
I’m not in school, by the way, but I work with people older than me and many foreigners.
I’m helping research residences for some friends, looking for suggestions. The problem with the seniors residence websites is that none of them list pricing without booking a tour. 🤦🏻♀️ I just want even ballpark numbers.
Here are the “musts”:
Budget flexible… we just want to see what’s out there, but don’t want to visit 20 places just to get pricing.
Any suggestions? TIA!
I'm completely stuck, but around a year ago I found this awesome website where you could look at a map of central Vancouver and click on different areas e.g steam clock in Gastown or Hastings street, and see what it looked like back in the day and what it looks like now. You could drag the cursor over the photo to compare.
It was a super cool project and maybe it's not running anymore because on Google nothing showed up... Does anyone have any leads?
Hi! I found a place to stay for a week with my five year old son between Main, Keefer, Gore and Union (Chinatown?). After looking up the area I found lots disturbing about East Hastings and Main. Would it be safe for us to stay there or should I look somewhere else? Thanks for your input!
Update: we'll stay at the West side of the city. Thank you very much everyone! Learned something new about Vancouver. Definitely looking forward to visit! Love from Sydney
So I moved into a home on Feb 1. My truck is loaded of beds, tables, chairs, etc.
There is absolutely no ‘permit free’ parking spots available within a few blocks. So the whole street is basically permit parking only.
I don’t think I would’ve been able to park 3-4 blocks away and carry every mattress, bed frame and everything else that far.
So I decided to park in front of the house, which is a permit parking area.
I don’t have a parking permit because COV does not issue permits if my insurance papers do not have the updated address.
Wouldn’t this be a paradox? How could I get a parking permit if I haven’t even moved in yet to update my ICBC papers to apply for a parking permit?
The person on the phone has absolutely no understanding of what I’m saying. All she said is, you got a ticket and you need to pay it. I explained everything to her.
She says I’ll need to contact disputes, which costs an additional $25 if it doesn’t get approved.
Should I just pay the fine? I truly don’t feel like I deserved this ticket.
Hello!
I am looking for good japanese restaurants yes (not especially sushi) but with a cozy and unique atmosphere / decoration. I also really don't like when the music is too loud but it is rarely an issue in japanese restaurants.
I love for example Raisu and New Fuji in Kitsilano (my neighboorhood). But I would love to discover a new place in another neighboorhood! Not against more expensive places as long as it is worth it.
Give me your best spots!
Edit: thank you for all those recommendations! Can't wait to try them all <3
Hey all!
(22M) I’m planning on running the Vancouver Marathon this May—super excited! This will be my first time traveling to a different province for a race. I’m from Edmonton, and I’ve been looking into hotels, but the prices are ridiculously expensive.
Is this something I just have to deal with, or are there good ways to find better deals? Also, would anyone be interested in splitting a hotel?
Let me know!
Looking for suggestions for a male RMT in Vancouver! Thanks!
I’m new to Vancouver and I wanted to learn more about the mayor here.
I brought this up with my spouse and she doesn’t have anything positive to say about him.
I’m wondering what the locals think of him?
I saw his little gym video and laughed, but hopefully he’s making a difference in the community.
Again this is coming from a person who has zero knowledge of this man.
Hello, I just bought this coat that I like a lot but there is an issue with it, it says Doug, which isn't my name. Does anyone know any sewing or textiles or clothes shop that could remove the name for me? In the greater vancouver area, preferably reachable by transit. And how much would it cost? Any good little spots in (including west/north) vancouver? I heard QE park is good too.
Its snowing a lot, how do you intend to get home?
East van here needing to head into kits area tomorrow night. How are the main roads out there? Did the city actually salt and clear main roads? I'm afraid vancouver will be a sheet of ice the next couple days. And yes I have proper snow tires.
I live in east van. Growing up, I'd always hear the ice cream truck in my neighbourhood. It's been a long time since I've seen an ice cream truck driving around and I want to ask you guys if you've seen any! I miss waking up to the music as a kid lol
I am in the market for an ipad. By no means do i need a new one or one with large storage volumes. Just want something to 1. Play around on procreate, 2. Play plants vs zombies, 3. Read comics from the library. I see plenty of reasonable offers on fb marketplace- but feels like ipads (or any apple products) could be used for scams. Like someone trying to sell me an aliexpress/temu dupe or something. Am i being paranoid? Is fb marketplace a safe option for an ipad? TIA!
