lost my purse around kitsilano - has my pr card inside

on 8 november i forgot my pure - a green coloured handbag - at a pub in kitsilano. i am almost certain i did not carry it outside the pub but i may have (i was a little tipsy) and it’s possible i lost it somewhere around the area. it would’ve been around 9 pm, around burrard/w broadway?

the purse has my pr card inside and i am very anxious about this. i have filed a police complaint but if anyone comes across my poor bag please let me know, i’d be so grateful

(i am gonna apply for a replacement pr card later this week but i am gonna wait a few days to see if it somehow turns up)

What local restaurant in Vancouver has the potential to go international ?

In Vancouver many restaurants or chains restaurants are originally from elsewhere and they import it to Vancouver.

Whether it is tacos, sushi, donair or pho, OR some foreign food chain like Halal Guys, Jolibees or Hai Di Lao that set up shop here, I’m getting a foreign experience instead of a local one.

Freshslice, although it’s not very good pizza, they have a money making model that works. Have they gone to the United States?

People have mentioned Salmon n Bannock. Is it good? Does it have the potential to go global and represent Vancouver cuisine?

Do we have any restaurant that can demonstrate a Vancouver dining experience?

Best waffle place.

Hey there! I'm on the hunt for the best traditional waffle house-style waffle in Vancouver. I'm not looking for those artisan varieties—just a good, full-size Belgian waffle. Any recommendations? Thanks!

How much do hairdressers actually make?

Hi there! Considering a new career before I go back to study and I'm wondering if the pay is decent? I've been looking for a job that doesn't have risk of being replaced by AI and is at least somewhat stable and hairdressing came up a lot as an option when doing career path tests that I got from workbc.

Is it a good job but mostly wondering what the pay is like, starting and a bit more experienced

What's the procedure for buying a used car off of Marketplace or Craigslist here?

I want to buy a beater, won't be taking out any loans, nothing like that. Hypothetically, if I find a car, meet up to go look at it, test drive, and inspect it, and decide that I want to buy it, what exactly do I do from then on?

I don't really know what I should bring or how exactly to go about transferring the title to my name or getting insurance etc. I also don't know if I should talk to the bank and fill out some sort of form cause I'll be withdrawing money out of my account and stuff. I know that you have to pay tax based on the blue book value but I don't know the specifics of that.

I know about cars and how to work on them and maintain them, but I don't know about the insurance, financial, and paperwork red tape that I have to do. Could someone give me like a step-by-step guide?

Who sells pins in Vancouver

I know I could easily buy one off Amazon, but I’d rather buy local. I heard a CBC article about an autistic woman selling pins that say “be patient, I’m autistic!” And I want one for my kid. Any insights? 🙏🏻

Churches

Hello! I’m planning to start at UBC, I am Christian and was wondering if there’s any Churches that use a lot of music in their worship. I love music as a form of worship especially upbeat and gospel. I don’t care very about denomination as long as they are true to scripture.

What happened to Metrotown's Santa photo organization 2019 and earlier?

2019 and earlier, Santa photos at Metrotown had signages (and also in email) indicating photos are by donation to the Burnaby Christmas Bureau to help those in need during the holiday season.

I then noticed year 2021 onward, there seem to be no more signage mentioning donation and prices went sky high ($35 plus for this year). They seem to be run by "North pole picture Co" and "Vancouver photobooth Inc".

So, what happened to the group 2019 and earlier?

What's a current need you have that could be solved with technology in Vancouver ?

Hi everyone,

I'm an independent software engineer and I am looking for ideas to build a product.

Whether you are in the restaurant industry, construction, beauty , healthcare, or just a student, what are some pain points you face daily that you think could be solved or be made easier using an application or a tech solution ?

I would appreciate any feedback.

And thank you in advance for your input !

What are some store that do Black Friday Sales in 2024?

I am still new to Vancouver/Surrey. I am trying to buy something for myself. I’m into electronics and enjoy getting new headphones, a better computer, or parts. I have around $5000 CAD that I can spend.

All I know are Walmart and BestBuy, but besides those, I have no idea where else to shop. I thought Costco's Black Friday doesn't have any deals in Canada, or probably not yet.

giant idiot with an infected nose piercing

moved to van a year and a half ago from ontario, haven’t bothered to update my id/health care because i’m a massive idiot and haven’t had any reason to use a doctor in like the last ten years, so why would i need to now? big mistake.

i got my nose pierced, it’s very clearly infected, and i need antibiotics lol. i can’t book a pharmacist consolation because i don’t have an msp number (i’m in queue on the phone to see what my options are right now though EDIT: they can’t help me lol), the next available appointment with telus health isn’t until tuesday.

i just want to get this shit taken care of asap because i woke up this morning and it was all of a sudden BAD.

EDIT: got a prescription through maple, thanks for everyone’s suggestions! will be applying for msp asap so i don’t have to deal with this again lol

Landlord use for parent of rental suite

Plan to serve a landlord use for parent notice to a 1bedroom suite in a house

parents are out of province and wants to move here ASAP

our options

  1. Serve the regular 4 month landlord use notice and delay the move until 4 months later or have them rent elsewhere here short term first.
  2. Offer a cash for keys option to the tenant to move out earlier
  3. Serve the regular 4 months notice, but concurrently offer cash for keys option to incentivize tenant to move sooner. ex. move in 2 months = 2 months free. move in 1 month = 3 months free.

What would you guys do? reading all these horror stories about long RTB disputes and tenants refusing to leave.

- Hypothetically, would offering a cash for keys option to move out sooner count as "bad faith" if the tenant decides to dispute the notice?

-if tenants disputes the notice and RTB asks me to show proof that parents will move in, what kind of proof will I need? Parents haven’t moved here yet, will move when the unit is vacant. So how do I prove that?

for reference, this tenant has been there for a while, 5+years and is paying quite a bit under market. Tenant has been great so far, no issues.

TIA

Where to drop off reusable tech?

I have a bunch of old tech hardware that I no longer need but is all perfectly usable (some of it is even still BNIB). Network switches, wifi access points, cameras, PoE injectors, etc.

In the past I would have taken it to FreeGeek but they closed a few years ago.

Are there any similar places I can drop this stuff off at so that it can get reused?

I know I can take it to the recycling depot but I don’t think that stuff gets reused.

Do you let others in if you live in an apartment ?

Just wondering if you live in an apartment do you let others follow you in without a fob? Or when you are in the lobby waiting or getting mail and someone is at the door knocking so you let them in?

Asking because I usually let others in if they are behind me but if I am at the lobby and they need entrance I won’t let them in. Just today someone was delivering a package (no uniform.) wanting to come in. I pointed to the buzzer outside to incident he should I get buzz in by the people he is delivering to, he just keeps knocking on the door so I just ignore him while I wait for my wife (our strata have a policy in to not let strangers in) anyways he looks upset someone else enter the building the the delivery guy came in as well and gets mad at me for not letting him in. Told him he should use the buzzer and get whoever he is delivering the package to let him in or just leave a delivery note outside but he should not expect to be let in. Also told him even if I let him in he can’t make the delivery anyways because he can’t get to the floor he wants to go without a fob and our mail room is lock so he can’t just leave the package in there. He got a bit mad and swear at me and just left the package in the lobby sitting on next to the coffee table and left.

Should I let him in anyways? Even if I did he can’t make the delivery and leaving the package in the lobby so it can be stolen

Brannock Device (Shoe sizer)

Hey all, bit of an odd question,

Anyone know where in Van (closer to DT is preferred) I can get my foot measured with a Brannock device (Those metal devices you put your foot in and they can measure your shoe size/width)? I feel like I haven't seen one in decades and I'm wanting to double-check my feet sizing for an online shoe order. I remember when I was younger, I was measured at a 12E, but I have no idea if that's still the case and wanted to double check.
