/r/mashups
This subreddit is dedicated to music mashups. A mashup is a song or composition created by blending two or more pre-recorded songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the instrumental track of another. Looking for new mashups? Have one you can't remember the name of? Have a request for a song or information? This is the place.
Mashups
This subreddit is meant exclusively for music related mashup content.
A mashup is a song or composition created by blending two or more pre-recorded songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the instrumental track of another.
If you aren't sure if it's a mashup, listen to it without video. If you can tell it's two or more songs together, then it's a mashup.
Medleys, I.E strings of songs with 'transition periods', are not considered mashup content.
Format
[Optional Tag] Mashup Artist - Song Name (Artists Being Mashed) Optional Comments
Mashup Artist is now REQUIRED in addition to Song Name and Artists Being Mashed.
Tags and comments are optional, but the dash, parentheses, and spaces are required. If you do not include tags for a link post, it is assumed to be a mashup. If you include one of the accepted tags (see below), then the post flair will automatically be updated (for example, posts using [Meme] will automatically have the Meme tag applied).
We recommend using the [Meme] tag for Soundclowns/memes, [Album] for albums, [Mix] for long mashup mixes, and [Demo] for WIP/demos so they can be given post flair and be easily filtered. [Mashup] tag is optional.
If you are submitting something other than a mashup, please use the format [Tag] Description which requires one of the following tags: [Discussion], [Meta], [Contest], [News], [Meme], [Resource], [Mix], [Album], [Year End], [Year-End], or [Demo].
Here are some perfect examples:
Joe Schmo - My First Mashup (Childish Gambino, Daft Punk) - [1:23]
Joe Schmo - My First Mashup (Childish Gambino, Daft Punk) - [1:23] I have no idea what I'm doing!
[Discussion] Where else do you find mashups?
[Demo] I'm using MONTERO. Can you check if this part is in key?
[News] YouTube changed copyright strike duration from six months to three.
[Mix] Two Friends - Big Bootie Mix, Vol. 20 (Various Artists)

Respect
Mashups are posted by mashup artists from newcomers to pros. As such, we strongly encourage upvoting relevant posts to lift other users up rather than tear everyone down, especially new posts.
With skill level in mind, constructive criticism is also strongly encouraged. After all, it's how we improve. However, we ask that users direct criticism at the track, and not the user making the track or other users.
In general, personal attacks or offensive remarks towards other users are not allowed.

Link to the original Halloween 2024 contest description
At long last, it's time to announce the results of the Halloween 2024 contest.
With high stakes came bigger prizes. And with bigger prizes, incredible ideas and execution were expected.
You all started with good ideas. Many of you took the feedback well and were able to work with me to elevate your mashups to the next level. Some overused songs but still enough variety and creativity to elevate this album. Tracks like Rolfe Kent's Dexter theme, Rob Zombie's What Lurks On Channel X, Camille Saint-Saëns's Danse Macabre, and many more made appearances on the album and were used for some really creative ideas, even before I helped elevate some of them. Familiar favorites like Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites, Close Your Eyes, Dragula, and Monster Mash were used as well. Other left-field choices made an appearance but were really effectively used to fit the context of Halloween and the album as a whole.
I'd consider this year's Halloween album both moderately successful and high quality. This is all thanks to your incredible entries and drive to improve on them. It's not easy working on a tight deadline, but we pulled it off.
This time, the contest started October 2nd. Since I was able to get artwork while the contest was going on, this wasn't the worst start. In future years, I still would have started the Halloween contest no later than October 1st to give everyone more time but also so the album comes out well before the Halloween parties to come. There were some last minute edits that were getting in the Saturday of Halloween weekend, which I honestly wish I had avoided. The balancing act with starting early and getting inspiration by absorbing elements of the holiday season can be tricky, but I think we're at least going to start on the right track for Christmas when we start that contest in the mid-November timeframe. By then stores will start selling merchandise for Christmas and you'll be sick of the same old Christmas music over and over again (which will then inspire you to make mashups with them).
All that said, here are the results, which link to the original submissions that were judged before going through the mixing and mastering. Given how close some results were, favorites at the time of album release were considered but not as highly weighed as judging and voting for the original entries.
The winner will receive a prize of their choice, once I contact them.
Congratulations to all who participated! If you have not already done so, you may publicly release the tracks on the album, which has been released here:

The next contest will be for the Christmas/Winter Wonderland album. Watch this space.
Welcome to the all new mashup request and resource thread for November 2024!
