/r/MacOSBeta
Since at least August (I don't remember what beta that was, but probably one of the 15.0 betas) I've had an issue where Shortcuts that check the status of a Homekit device hang. Such as "if Light is on" -> "Turn Light off"
They work fine when run from iOS, but MacOS shortcuts app hangs at the If statement.
I reported in Feedback assistant on August 13th, expected it to be resolved in a future beta, and went about my day. It has never been resolved, currently on 15.2 beta 4. There are no similar reports, and it still doesn't work.
I'm assuming it's a "me" problem now. Has anybody else encountered this?
There are some really cool ones that I haven’t explored yet. For example, you can use the screen capture (presentation) mode while you’re presenting. It’s pretty neat! I’ve started using the background and studio light option. Usually, I use the background in Google Meet, but since this is a browser option, it’s not as good. However, I found that now we can open the green camera button in the taskbar and use the background directly from our Mac. And with the Portrait option, you can blur it out and make it look like a real background. It has this nice blurry effect to it. Also, the Mic Mode is great for improving the quality of our voice during the call.
But the best part is that the background is there before you join a meeting. With Google Meet, it can take a few seconds to load, and my messy background is visible for that short time. And the facial outline is just way better on the Mac native filter.

So since macOS 15.2 developer beta 3, I have been getting these pop ups on the control center that tell me an app is accessing my screen. It still happens on beta 4. Unlike the alerts that used to appear in the middle of the screen weekly for the same thing, I cannot get rid of these. They will disappear, but just come back a few seconds later. I use these apps frequently so I don't want to just get rid of them, but I can't figure out how to make it stop doing this. Does anyone here know of a fix? I submitted a bug report to Apple several weeks ago when it first started, but they haven't replied or fixed the issue yet.
I'm trying to find the location/local file of the new 15.2 Safari wallpapers but they're not showing up in
Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources*
Does anyone knows where the new wallpapers are stored?
I noticed that, when I use lists from Contacts in Mail, not all the contacts are added. In some cases, contacts are duplicated, but, most often, over half of them are missing. They work correctly in iPadOS and iOS. I've filed a bug report with Apple, but wonder if anyone has a workaround.
Help! Desktop widgets stopped working 😭
When widgets were first announced, I could click on my desktop to see my files and my widgets in color. But after a couple of months, it just stopped working. Now, clicking the desktop does nothing.
I’ve tried everything I can think of, but nothing works. Any advice? 🙏
Edit: here is a pic of my settings, if it helps:
I had been on this beta for a while. Randomly a couple days ago my trackpad stopped working. It works fine with an external mouse. I took it to the apple store and they told me it seems to be more of a software issue than a hardware issue ( my computer is only 13 months old) . Since then there was a new beta and I've updated that but am still having the same issue. They suggested backing up and doing a fresh reinstall. The problem I think is that my latest backup is on the current beta. So if i try to reinstall its going to have a backup thats newer that the current operating system. Any advice?
My iMac is not appearing as a Mac to transfer my data from, and I feel quite sure that it must be because I have the Beta installed on the iMac, but not on the Mac mini. Do you see any reason to choose not to install the current Beta on the mini—if only to transfer my data from my iMac so that I can wipe it and give it to my nephew? Thanks!¡!

Update: copied all the required data to external drive from Terminal in recovery mode.
Going to clean the HDD and install the OS again
When trying to install Windows 10 on my mid-2011 iMac running MacOS High Sierra, I get the following error:
"The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.
The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows."
I have read online that a possible solution to this error is to delete all, but one partition in the disk. However, there is one other partition that I cannot seem to get rid of. When opening disk utility, clicking on my drive, and clicking 'partition' there are 2, the main one, and a separate one that is around 134mb. When selecting that partition, and clicking the minus (-) sign, it doesn't delete, as the minus sign is greyed out.
Does anyone know the solution to either deleting that partition, or any other solution that would allow me to install windows 10 on my Mac?
Thank you in advance!
After updating, it seems I can't click on some buttons on specific websites, including Reddit and my university's learning platform. A workaround I found is that if I pinch to zoom so that the button is in the center third of the screen (both vertically and horizontally), then I can click it. Another option is going into Safari settings and enabling tab navigation and tabbing to the button and pressing Enter. If any of you can think of a cause or a fix, it would be greatly appreciated.
Hey group, 20 year PC user, i just had to get the mac mini to compliment the AVP. Still using PC via parallels, but outside of that use case, I'm trying my best to use the Mac OS ecosystem in UWD, i see text and font size and side bar amplification of siE, but is there no option to make the top menu bar larger or thicker ? 10k display makes it so small. But i need it. Hahaha. Any help is appreciated.
Just need it Bigger, girthier, thicker, longer. You get the point. No Diddy.
Does anyone know what the Categorize Sender function in Apple Mail does? I am running Sequoia 15.2 Beta and just found it today. Can't find any information about it. Maybe a hint for upcoming mail categories like in IOS18?
After reading many posts in several forum threads regarding tweaking handsoff, wifi, bluetooth, restarts and more, none of that worked for me. Closest was this "Reset iPhone access" in the mirroring app itself, but failing with the error people already described above.
So I decided to manually force clean such credentials. After some trial and error, here are the steps that worked for me:
Close iPhone mirroring app completely
Open your favorite terminal app
Browse to ScreenContinuity user preferences folder:
$ cd ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.ScreenContinuity/Data/Library/Preferences
$ rm com.apple.ScreenContinuity.plist
If these steps helped you, please upvote! Thanks

I received access to Image Playground a couple of weeks ago, but whenever I try to use it it always returns the message Unable to use that description
, even with the built-in prompts. I'm on 18.2 DB4. Anyone else having this issue?
after upgrading to macOS Sequoia 15.2 Dev Beta 2, I noticed that defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true; killall Dock is not working any more to reorganize/reset the Launchpad.
Updated last night to Dev Beta 4 and the issue is still present.
I an experiencing this on my Mac mini M1, Mac mini M2 and MacBook Air M3
My MacBook Pro goes from 70% to dead while asleep overnight. Activity monitor shows that idleassetsd was operating 150% of CPU during the time and however my MacBook hasn’t been connected to wifi for a number of days since im travelling. I also noticed that onedrive was open and continuously trying to download however it didn’t show up in activity monitor so I assume it didn’t impact battery
I’ve held back from updating to Sequoia as I’ve seen reports all over that M1 chips only guessing the 720p camera quality is terrible and grainy. Thanks all.
Is there anyone facing this issue??
Updated to macOS 15.2 beta 4 yesterday, installed latest Little Snitch 6 version as well, after restart I get an error message from Little Snitch and a warning triangle in the menu bar.
Any suggestions?
The question here is very complex, because I don't even know from where to start.
On Windows there's a tool like DISM which you can use to fully customize the .iso of the operating system, so when you go to install that .iso you have already your fully customized os.
With DISM you can manipulate the entire content of the os at such degree - that you can even delete a lot of default stuff from it.
So my question is the following:
Is there a similar tool, but for macOS which I can use to customize the entire content of the os image?
I'm running macOS 15.1.1. As much as I want to try the wide and ultra wide virtual displays on my Apple Vision Pro, I can't afford to install 15.2 beta on my daily driver. According to MacRumors, Apple plans to release it along with iOS 18.2 on December 9. But with under three weeks to go, it seems like the current macOS beta is too buggy to get in good shape by then from what I've read here and elsewhere. What do y'all think about this date slipping by at least a week?
I can't use the chat GPT extension with the new Apple Intelligence
Region USA
Does it have to do anything with my age of 13?
on another Mac account, age is over 18; it lets us use the chat GPT extension
Sequoia 15.2 beta
Doesn't anyone have the same problem as me? I use Spotlight Search quite a lot, and now it doesn't open at some specific cases. Mac just makes an error sound instead of opening Search Bar sometimes.
I am using a Macbook Air M2 from 2022. Everything worked fine with my external HDMI displays until I updated the OS to beta. Went to an Apple genius bar and they said system diagnosis couldn't be completed due to the beta environment. Have already filed a report through Feedback Assistance and am currently waiting for response. Anyone with same issue and potential solutions?
