vacation ideas for breaux bridge?

i want to go on a roadtrip from my home (the appalachian part of north carolina) to breaux bridge sometime this summer and stay in louisiana for a week, but i don't exactly want the 'tourist experience', so to speak.

long story short i want to write a book set in breaux bridge, and to get the kind of experience that i want i want to experience the good, the bad, and the ugly. just ordinary everyday louisiana life stuff and a few attractions here and there. i think a bulleted list would be best

• what's a good shitty old motel to stay in? not really looking to have a classy trendy modern stay

• i'm all ears on anything historical. i love learning about anything american southern history related, whether that be a museum or a walk through of a historical place or antique store.

• speaking of antique stores, tell me all your favorites

• best holes in the wall and diners? a big restaurant is fine now and then but im looking to have more of the everyday louisiana kind of food

• the kinds of bars where beer bottles are swimming in piss filled toilets and nothing has been updated for years, tell me about them. ive never been to an actual bar actually since i don't really drink and i turned 21 back in january, but my first bar being just a raw and real bar in louisiana would be kickass

• best swamp experiences? ive seen swamp boat tours and i plan on doing one, but anything else swamp related i should do?

• i don't plan on spending too much time in new orleans, maybe just a day, but what's a good ghost tour to experience and jazz club to go to?

• and just anything in general yall would recommend. old wooden country stores, dirt roads, forgotten gas stations, places to go barefoot and scrape my knees at, just anything good ol southern

Going on a week long trip to New Orleans. What resturants to try (hopefully try some Cajun dishes), what sights to see, what activities to do and what areas to avoid.

Got a trip soon to New Orleans and am looking for suggestions from the locals.

My favorite part of Vacation is finding food places. So definitely give me all the great recommendations to eat.

Moving down to Carencro in about a month.

Any good jobs that are hiring in the area? I am willing to commute up to 30 minutes, I only have a highschool degree.

Also if there is anything related to the film industry I would love to hear about it!

Letter to Health and Welfare Committee in support for HB 707 Jordan Home grow bill

Good morning Chairman Miller and members of the committee, my name is Tony Landry.

I’m a Navy veteran and speak before you today as a councilman for the Veterans Action Council. The veterans action Council works both globally and locally to reform drug policy. We believe humans have inalienable rights to natural plant medicine and our motto is “Access for All”.

Historians show the earliest recordings of Cannabis use at 2700 BC. Archaeologist have traced cannabis, spiritual, and medical use of cannabis back throughout 5000 years of human history.

In the PubMed document, Medicinal Cannabis: History, Pharmacology, And Implications for the Acute Care Setting (1)

“The authors review the historical use of medicinal cannabis and discuss the agent’s pharmacology and pharmacokinetics, select evidence on medicinal uses, and the implications of evolving regulations on the acute care hospital setting.

In the U.S., cannabis was widely utilized as a patent medicine during the 19th and early 20th centuries, described in the United States Pharmacopoeia for the first time in 1850.

Federal restriction of cannabis use and cannabis sale first occurred in 1937 with the passage of the Marihuana Tax Act.15,16 Subsequent to the act of 1937, cannabis was dropped from the United States Pharmacopoeia in 1942, with legal penalties for possession increasing in 1951 and 1956 with the enactment of the Boggs and Narcotic Control Acts, respectively, and prohibition under federal law occurring with the Controlled Substances Act of 1970.1,17,18

Beyond criminalization, these legislative actions contributed to creating limitations on research by restricting procurement of cannabis for academic purposes.”

Cannabis schedule one is a lie and we should be using cannabis as a harm reduction strategy for veterans suicide. Louisiana ranks higher than the national average for veterans suicide.

According to a report by Watson Institute International & Public Affairs at Brown University, at least four times as many active duty personnel and war veterans of post-9/11 conflicts have died of suicide than in combat, as an estimated 30,177 have died by suicide as compared with the 7,057 killed in post-9/11 war operations.

The report notes that the increasing rates of suicide for both veterans and active duty personnel are outpacing those of the general population - an alarming shift, as suicide rates among service members have historically been lower than suicide rates among the general population. “ (2)

There are several benefits to adult use cannabis and home grow rights.

Here are some of them: “AI” generated:

  1. Personal Freedom: Adult use cannabis and home grow rights provide individuals with the freedom to make choices about their own recreational activities and what they consume in the privacy of their own homes.

  2. Access to Quality Products: With home grow rights, individuals can cultivate their own cannabis plants, ensuring access to high-quality, organic, and personalized products.

  3. Cost Savings: Growing cannabis at home can be a cost-effective option for regular users, as it eliminates the need to purchase from dispensaries at retail prices.

  4. Health Benefits: Cannabis has been found to have various health benefits, including pain relief, reduction in anxiety and depression symptoms, and management of certain medical conditions.

  5. Sustainability: Home cultivation allows individuals to have control over the cultivation process, reducing the carbon footprint associated with commercial production and transportation.

  6. Educational Opportunity: Growing cannabis at home provides a unique educational opportunity for individuals to learn about botany, horticulture, and the cultivation process.

  7. Community Building: Home grow rights can foster a sense of community by allowing individuals to share knowledge, resources, and surplus cannabis products with others.

  8. Personalized Strains: Home cultivation allows individuals to experiment with different cannabis strains and create personalized blends that suit their specific needs and preferences.

  9. Empowerment: Adult use cannabis and home grow rights empower individuals to take control of their own well-being and make informed choices about their cannabis consumption.

  10. Economic Benefits: The legalization of adult use cannabis and home grow rights can contribute to job creation, tax revenue, and economic growth in the cannabis industry.

According to a new poll recently released Nearly 60% of Americans Now Believe You Should Have the Right to Legally Grow Your Own Weed at Home

The poll's findings come at a time of rapidly evolving cannabis laws, both in the United States and abroad. Uruguay, Canada, Malta, Luxembourg and most recently Germany have all legalized home cultivation to varying degrees. In the U.S., many states that have legalized adult-use cannabis also permit limited home grows, though some, like Washington, still prohibit it for non-medical users. (1)

Adult use cannabis and home grow rights will help mitigate the harmful effects criminalization has had on Louisiana’s citizens and serve as a health benefit by reducing suicide and overdose.

Please support this bill and end the failed lie about cannabis being a scheduled 1 drug.

Respectfully,

Tony Landry Veterans Action Council Lafayette ,LA https://www.veteransactioncouncil.com/

Ten Commandments Bill

Okay so I’m currently going in deep to fight this bill they’re trying to pass.

About a month ago I contacted the Louisiana chapter of The Satanic Temple in regards to this unconstitutional bill they’re currently trying to pass in our state. On April 28th there is a Zoom meeting scheduled for people in Louisiana to speak with TST, and tonight I meet with the Satanic Representation in regards to this bill since the House Education Committee meets tomorrow.

Please write to your representatives! Contact TST! Contact the Freedom From Religion Foundation! We need to put a stop to this as it’s a direct violation of our first amendment rights.

Hey y'all, I'm a recent grad and most likely getting a job at Fort Polk for an army civilian position.

I'm from New Jersey and have been used to a certain lifestyle and so moving to the south is a huge life choice. The biggest decision for me now is to accept and move to Louisiana for three years or not. This would be my first federal govt job and so I was wondering for people's perspectives and thoughts!

Louisiana is Going to Kill the Hemp Industry Eliminating Hundreds of Business and Thousands of Jobs. I run Crescent Canna. AMA.

Yesterday the Senate passed SB237. This legislation completely eliminates the hemp industry in Louisiana that has been growing since the legislature passed pro-business and pro-hemp bills over the past few years.

There are 35 people that my companies employ in New Orleans whose jobs are now at risk if not certain to be eliminated. There are hundreds of other companies around the state that have built businesses around selling these products under the guidelines established by the Legislature and enforced by the ATC and LDH. Hundreds if not thousands of jobs will be eliminated

For what purpose?

Billionaires don't want small businesses to succeed because they perceive us as a threat to their power. Everything else is just talking points that they're using to justify their anti-free market and anti-business stances.

What will occur in the aftermath of this?

Jobs will be lost. Businesses will close. The state will further become a black hole for entrepreneurship and growing businesses. The state will lose millions in revenue in the short term and tens of millions in the long term, much of which goes directly to fund early childhood education. The black market will thrive. People who love these products won't be able to get them legally.

What can you do about it?

Call and email every single representative in the state house (and senate if you are able) and ask them politely to not kill jobs and small businesses, to support the free market, to support legal and safe hemp products, and to do what is right for the citizens of this state, not the billionaires who control it.

Is NSULA a good school?

I was thinking of applying to NSULA (Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Natchitoches), but I was wondering if it is a school with good academics, nice people/professors, safe environment, activities, etc.

Has anyone ever been there or knows what it's like?

Ending alcohol prohibition decreased America’s homicide rate. Do you think ending cannabis prohibition would decrease Louisiana’s homicide rate?

The 4 day week is not sustainable, please stop this

I love in an area here that is experimenting with a 4 day week. They didn't think this through at all, they didn't prepare, and it is negatively affecting everyone.

I wake up at 5 to 5:30 every morning, and am at the bus stop by 6, we're meant to be in class at 7:20, and my school ends at 3:40, and by the time I get home it's about 4:30 to 5 pm. Then I am expected to do homework for 1 to 2 hours, and I need to take care of my little sisters while my mom is at work, so from 6 to 7 I am making dinner then getting my baby sisters to bed, then, if I even have enough energy, I attempt to do homework, and I MIGHT be done by say 8 or 9 pm. And that leaves..... what time? I'm already completely mentally and physically exhausted from being up and out of the house for around 11 to 12 hours straight, then I am expected to do even more work at home, then somehow go to sleep at a decent time and wake up at 5 again.

How is this sustainable? How is this legal?? I've never considered quitting school, I've always been an A/B student, but right now I am being worked for 12 hours, then worked more at home, and thats not even putting into consideration the chores I need to do to keep the house in shape. This can't be good for me, how could this be good for anyone? I am exhausted and burnt out, and every day I'm closer to having a complete meltdown. My grades are dropping and I've been getting sick a lot, which I suspect may be being caused by my lack of sleep and decline in my mental health.

And after all of this I'm supposed to what, go to college? I can hardly force myself to get up in the morning, im so exhausted, im tired of this, I've never wanted to give up more in my life.
