Hello all, Had to reinstall my fire cube today. I’ve always used kodi to play my saved films from Google drive. Google have now stopped allowing google drive to be accessed through Kodi saying its unsafe. The suggestions I’ve seen on internet searches so far, haven’t worked

There don’t seem to be any other options to play saved video through a TV without it being on a physical hard drive of some description. I’m annoyed they have taken this decision, when there is nothing illegal happening, what is on my drive is my property Anyone got any work arounds, i have a lot of films saved from over the years. I’M guessing different cloud storage provider, which will be a hassle as have over 5tb as well as google photos. Thanks

Run both services in parallel, AF4k, lgcs2.

disabling hdr10+, allows it to play, and the encoder shows dv, but the tv logo in the corner doesn't pop up the atmos and Dolby Vision logo, like in plex. same stick same file.

any idea's if the logo doesn't show does it not "switch" to Dolby vision?

I really like the Amber skin but not the media player that comes with the skin. The Amber media player skin is small central player buttons and everything looks tiny on my big tv.

Question: Can I have the Amber skin for all my media files (but) the original Kodi 21 omega player when watching media?

[Simple] I want the Amber skin for all my media to look nice, but when I play thr media I want to use the Confluence skin for the Media Player instead of the Amber skin Media Player

4k Firestick Kodi OMEGA 21

Hi there. I've been trying to ask this question in some NAS based subs and seem to face a bit of a wall of Raid.

For over 10 years I had a single drive very low powered Seagate Personal Cloud pre-packaged, non-upgradeable 4TB NAS drive. It's only purpose was: store music to play through Sonos, backup some files, and store ripped and downloades movies and TV shows. I played these latter items via Kodi running on a cheap Android TV box plugging into my home theatre via HDMI.

And ... it worked brilliantly over those 10 years, playing MKV files of h264 and h265 codecs. Somewhere in there I had the notion to try Plex with its fancier UI. But then Seagate stopped support of the Plex server running there, so I went back to Kodi. No fancy thumbnail driven UI, but also no care on this end. It just worked.

Now ... from my understanding - the difference in these two scenarios is the the Plex server was running on the NAS box, whereas the Kodi app is running on the Android TV.

If that's how I wanna keep doing things, do I really need the more expensive multi-bay NAS Drive setup? Or is another small single disc unit like the Beestation OK?

EDIT: In my attempt to type this late night in Australia, to get advice fron everywhere WEst of me while I slept, I omitted the important part: my Seagate Personal Cloud NAS died. Hence, I need to replace it.

I currently have a Nvidia Shield TV Pro that runs great, but I also know the era of set top boxes is coming to an end as virtually every TV sold today has prebuilt software to rub streaming apps sufficient for the average user.

I would be open to switching to a small mini PC but I'm apprehensive about how well Kodi would run in regards to video playback.

An issue I've seen even on my Kodi is some video playback is choppy with certain movies. Not every scene, but sparatically.

Is this an issue of the video file? Playback capabilities or limitations of the device? The TV itself?

Just curious what everyone out there is using.

Edit: Based on several responses and after looking into each one, I went ahead and purchased a Vero V. Appreciate the feedback from everyone and I'll be sure to post my initial review later on when I do some testing. Thanks all!

###Request: Looking for a small low powered Kodi device with remote that will play whatever I throw at it off of a USB stick

###Background: I have a full home lab with a NAS, multiple compute nodes, and everything automated for media consumption. For normal use, my family uses either Google TV or Roku devices for streaming.

We live in Florida and power outages can sometimes go on for a while during particularly bad storms. I have a generator that can run the basics, but I don't want to have to run my whole lab for this. Ideally we'd have a small Kodi player with a bunch of media loaded to a USB stick. Whenever power goes out, we'd just need to power the TV and the player.

I have a mix of media types, so the player would need to be capable of playing everything from MPEG4, H264, and HEVC. A remote and ease of use is also desired so that my wife and kids can use it without much fuss. I'm not against cobbling something together, but my preference would be a prebuilt box with a remote. Something that we can just power on and start watching. I have a cluster of Raspberry Pis, so I thought about pulling one and dedicating it to Kodi. However, I've heard that they're not really the best for playing everything like some other devices are (happy to be corrected if this is wrong).

I currently access my library through a 12tb HDD plugged into my TV, I plan on switching this out with a 16tb HDD and just copying the content of the 12tb one onto the new one. Will Kodi need to recan the entire library and will I lose all my watch history?

I would like to have the version labeled as 'default' in the 1st slot.

I know some skins display versions in a vertical, some skins display them horizontally. So, in a horizontal list, Slot 1 would mean left-most position.

The problem I have is that when I have a Theatrical Cut and Extended Cut, or any number of additional versions, the 'default' version ends up being in the last slot. For example, with Blade Runner (1982), I have US Theatrical, International Theatrical, Director's Cut, and Final Cut. I want Final Cut to be in Slot 1, it is labeled 'default' but it's in the last slot.

It would be great if there was an 'up/down' control in the Version Manager to control the sort order.

I have all my movies in the main Movie folder in kodi.

I would like to split it up into 2 main Movie menu. like "Movies" and "Foreign Movies"

I would like the 2 main menu be independent of each other.

So cover art with cases of US movies in main "Movies" and of course the Foreign Movies covers and cases in the "Foreign Movies" folder in main menu.

I know i can do a set and put all the foreign movies in 1 set, but since my foreign movies have set i like to avoid that solution.

Is this possible to do in Kodi 21.1?

I haven’t bought a tv in a few years but last time around there weren’t any TVs that would allow install of Kodi. Has that changed? Just wondering if there’s a way to get Kodi (plus adding) without having to buy a setop box. If so, any suggestions on best TVs for this would be much appreciated!

When I press a video to watch it on YouTube, it says this video is unavailable for all videos. But I tested it by logging out, and it worked just fine. Is there a fix to this so I can use my recommended feed, or should I log out and use it without my feed?

I’ve been using a firestick for years so haven’t kept up with the times. Is there a way to do it natively on this TV that is being delivered today?

If not, what are the best options these days? Preference would be to not have a laptop lying around, but open to suggestions.

I'm configuring a new android device with Kodi, and having some issues with scrapping series.

I've got several series in different releases, mostly anime in original release, and AI upscaled.

Well, Kodi is adding all the episodes in same series in collection, so I can have a series with over 5 episodes for each version (counting languages and so).

I had hoped I could do versions like with films, but seems it's not possible with series? How could I work around?

I'm also having problems with detection, some series don't allow me to manual edit title when not correctly scrapping, it just keeps going without allowing me any change… It happens with series that are already in collection in another version. May it be the same issue?

Before paying a yearly fee to use TMM and all it's features. Media Companion seems more user friendly and offers custome movie thumb screen shots. It's too bad both programs want to keep re writing each programs .nfo files. Or I might just use both.

Tiny Media Manager vs Media Companion ?

Been using the OneDrive plugin (cguZZman) for years and up until the latest kodi releases, has been perfect.

However although it technically still works there are x2 issues

1. Accessing onedrive content directly by launching the add-on and then selecting the account loads, and content can be played, however every few minutes, the screen will go black and playback will stop.

Selecting the content allows for it to be resumed, but then again after several minutes, the screen goes black and the content playback stops

2. Second issue is accessing onedrive content using the Onedrive as a source option (http://localhost)

in that selecting content from the source option takes several minutes to even load the folders, and then several more minutes for the content to begin playing. Accessing by source is also subject to the same issue as mentioned in issue 1

Is this just me, or does anyone else have this above described issue?

Hi, just wondering what the latest situation is with running Kodi on webos24 (or even better, specifically on LG G4 tv)?

I have a G4 arriving tomorrow and despite doing some research, I’m not sure what the current state of play is - should I go down the rabbit hole farther? I keep reading conflicting advice.

I’m not bothered about support for addons or high quality audio, I just want to stream files from my own NAS. Most are 1080P h.264 or 265, but some are 4K resolution and in h.265 (albeit heavily compressed/low bitrate).

Any guides/instructions/warnings appreciated!

A long time now i've been searching for a media player with multiple features like Kodi. However I'm a total newbie and dont even have much experience on open-source softwares.
As of now, I have downloaded kodi and imported my movies straight from the external storage disk (around 300gb of storage). Although my laptop fits the needs of Kodi, I see that the application lags for example when i want to scroll down on movies' section.
What sources (texts/video tutorials etc) would you suggest me to see while learning how to use it?

Why aren't most people using an OS like Fedora or Ubuntu on their HTPC. Doesn't this allow you to have access to both Kodi and the web if necessary. Am I missing the benefits of an OS like Librelec or OSMC?

So it's been a while since I used kodi and I purchased an android stick off Ali because of the ram/storage for price. (Q12, running android 14)

Anyways, I got it and it starts up and everything. Now kodi is on Googleplay, downloaded it. Error installing, saying:

install_failed_insufficient_storage

But there is 124gb free.

Try some apk app that was on there. Same deal. And I can't seem to let the browser to download, even though I made sure it had permission to download and install from unknown.

Anybody know a work around?

Hi all, I had a question about the Export Library option in KODI. Currently, I'm reliant on scrapers from TMDB. Its been working well, never thought much of it, love the convenience, but as the library grows, in addition to having a few instances where the episode order of a show was slightly changed on TMDB and I realized it after moving KODI to another pc and scraping, I've started to think this option to export the library as keep a copy as like a backup, and keep my library consistent.

So if I understand correctly, I can use the Export Library option to do exactly that, and say if I get a new device for media, as long as the directories are the same, I can import that library instead of scraping. Even if something is changed on the side of TMDB, my media/artwork/episode order/etc would stay the same?

I have a mini pc that runs KODI for the tv. I was going to install KODI on my main desktop, and scrap all my media and periodically export the library as a backup 'master' library. Then as new media is added, I could scrape, and periodically export the library to keep things up to date. Am I understanding/using this correctly? Is there anything that I'm missing?

I’m a recent adopter. Someone in the Sony Bravia subreddit wrote that they use Kodi. My Sony OLED panel is Google TV and I’d been playing movies off USB thumb drives using the clunky native media player. I went to the Google Play store, downloaded Kodi, and started messing with it.

I now have two 4 terabyte Crucial X9 USB SSD plugged into the panel. One is dedicated to movies and I’m up to 1,100 movies in my library. The other is dedicated to series and music though I’m in my infancy on that. I just turned on the web server so I can view and control all my movies from my phone and iPad. I’m amazed at how well it works. I still have my training wheels and I’m sure I’m only using a fraction of the capabilities.

As the title says, I am able to go to movies and tv shows on the Kodi app on my computer with no issues. All the features are there, recent uploads, sort by genre, etc. But when I go to the Kodi app on my tv, I have to go to files instead. They have posters and everything, but I am unable to do stuff like sort from recently added.

Not sure what changed as this worked fine recently.

I am currently using a MINI PC to play videos on my TV. I am satisfied with almost everything, but my only complaint is that I can't use 4K OTT streaming on KODI.

As a result, I am considering switching to an Android box like the NVIDIA Shield TV or Amazon Fire Stick. However, I am curious about their actual performance.

I mainly watch 4K HDR videos and frequently use 2x to 4x playback speed for navigation. To ensure a seamless playback experience with no lag or buffering, I am already using a high-performance MINI PC (8845HS). If I switch to the Shield TV or other Android boxes, will I be able to maintain the same viewing experience?

After some research on the forums regarding the best platform for Kodi I've decided on Libreelec and a cheap mini PC. I've been using Kodi on Firestick 4k and the interface is just too sluggish to use. It hangs and crashes quite often so I'm looking for something snappy that can play 4K 60 with HDR10.

What kinda specs would something like this require? Could I get away with a cheap i3 based PC and 4GB RAM or would I need something more substantial? I've heard an SSD would be a plus as well.

Lastly, what's the best way I could control Kodi without using a keyboard and mouse, seeing as I'd be using it from my couch which could be cumbersome?
