FAQ

Q: Can you recommend a good hair dye?

A: In no particular order:

1) Manic Panic

2) Arctic Fox

3) Good Dye Young

The recommended dyes above are all endorsed as excellent options, and all vegan and cruelty-free. They all have different colors and products. To avoid damaging your hair, never use a (developer included) box dye.

Q: Do I need to bleach my hair first?

A: You don't need to bleach your hair, but if you want bright colors a bleached blonde range around level 8 is recommended; You can also dye just a few hairs to see how it will turn out.

Or oVertone has a bleach free, coloring conditioner for dark brown hair.

Q: How do I dye hair without bleaching?

A: Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo, do not use conditioner, and allow your hair to fully dry before applying the dye.

Q: How do I bleach my hair?

A: You'll need to apply bleach and developer. You can view detailed instructions here. But instructions will vary depending on your hair and desired results.

Q: How do I remove dye from my hair?

A: The recommended way is to give your hair a Bleach Wash. Mix (1 part) bleach with (1-2 parts) 20 volume developer, mix with (6 parts) clarifying shampoo, and apply to damp hair for 10 minutes, before rinsing.

    Very very dark blue

    Hello,

My current hair is level 6 ( very dark blonde / light brown ) i would say , with the frequnt wash its getting lighter and turning a little bit orangy? I dont know if its term. Anyways , my goal is to achieve very very dark blue almost dark dark navy blue.something that is wearable in a professional settings. Do i need to lift my hair with bleach again until its level 9 or lighter or can i use the hair dye directley on the hair.please note im not looking for a black colour or blue black because most blue black hair dye looks just jet black.

Can I use Blue Black over Jet Black hair?

I've been dying my hair jet black for about a year now and would like to try blue black. Do you think it will show at all? Here's a photo of my hair now :)

could i dye semi over my 1 day recent permanent hair dye to change the tone?

so i dyed my hair dark blue with permanent dye, after, bleaching and dying it with manic panic after midnight. (i know i can’t leave my hair alone 😭) anyway, it looks good, but the tone is just a little off from what i want and i feel like if i added a dark teal it should be what i want. would it be splotchy?

tl;dr: got dark blue after previous dying + bleaching. want it a little warmer blue.

    AgeBeautiful

I currently have age beautiful jet black hair dye, and I’m wanting to get rid of it so I can do a deep purple. If anyone has any good dye removers that work well on permanent black hair dye as well as a good bleach I’d be more than grateful

PS my hair is damaged (like she feels strawlike—mostly on the ends) and if y’all have advice on that too I’ll gladly take it

    Lunar Tides tips?

    Hi all,

What are your application tips to ensure semi permanent hair color lasts the longest?

Do you wash and blow dry hair and apply it on once dry?

    Apply on dirty hair?

Do you use heat to keep the hair color locked in?

Asking as I’m a newbie to this 😅

What sort of maintenance is required for a balayage/highlight look?

I have naturally dark Asian hair and am thinking of getting a balayage with my trusted hairdresser. I do not want to be blonde, I just want a subtle lighter change. Before I go any further I want to know how much work it is and how much time I’ll need to dedicate to it? How often does it need to be washed? How often should I be going back to the salon? I already use professional hair products.

Can I tone down highlights myself?

I accidentally removed the toner over my bright highlights using clarifying shampoo (I was trying to fade a dark shadow root and didn’t think about the toner). Can I tone them down myself with demi-permanent colour & 10 vol developer? Or should I wait til I can go back to my hairdresser to do another toner? This is what my hair looked like fresh out of the hairdresser and I was pretty happy with the colour, now the top of my highlights are too bright :(

How to fix my two-toned hair?

My natural hair colour is very dark brown, nearly black (Asian hair). I had peekaboo colour (such that I had the bottom half of my hair bleached and coloured) last winter and proceeded to dye my whole head brown the following summer.

I understand that the undertone of my hair is two different colours now since the bottom was bleached - so no matter how often I dye it back brown, it will always be lighter than the top half. I usually use Kao Liese bubble dye all over but I'm getting tired of the two-tonedness.

Is there a colour I can maybe fill the bottom half with so that it doesn't revert back to blonde every time I dye it?

    Thanks!!
