/r/glasgow
Welcome to the Glasgow subreddit. For everything Glasgow and the West.
WHAT'S RELEVANT
Radio Clyde phone-in rules apply. The sub covers anything that's relevant to Glasgow and the West of Scotland - so if it's a G, PA, ML, KA or FK postcode area it's in. We've got a few topics that aren't allowed. Check below.
REGULAR REPOSTS
There's a useful and growing resource at the Glasgow Wiki (thanks to users sevenof9k and LordAnubis).
Please check it out for ideas for your weekend in Glasgow, what area you might want to live in and lots of other things.
Please also use the search function, almost every question you can think of has been asked before. If it's been asked recently your repost will be removed.
NEWS SPAM
There are lots of sources for local news, search for the Glasgow Times, Daily Record, or even Glasgow Live if that's what you're looking for. Feel free to share any interesting or high profile news stories but we don't need a new thread every time there's a story about Glasgow's pot-holes.
NO ADVERTISING
Please do not post submissions on this subreddit for selling/buying items. Go to /r/GlasgowMarket for that. Be sure to subscribe, if you want to see those posts on your feed.
No advertising for relationships/friends either sorry, feel free to use The Steamie if you're looking for friends
JOBS
This also now applies to jobs as well. We now have /r/GlasgowJobs as another dedicated sister subreddit. Free to post your jobs on there and if you're looking for one, get subscribed!
FOOTBALL
We are embarking on a new era where Football posts are now allowed, indeed celebrated. Don't take the piss.
PHOTOS, MEMES, ETC
The sub is not your personal photo blog. Unless you've taken a photo the likes of which nobody has ever seen before, share it on your Instagram.
NEW TO GLASGOW?
Below we have collated some useful links for your convenience. Please check if what you need is in there first, before posting any questions. Also, use search. If you've got a generic question about the city it's almost certainly been asked before.

Hi. I'm the Dukes ACTUAL hat, and I got displaced somehow to DALLAS TEXAS! All the hats you've been seeing are imposters trying to hide my absence. I created a book face page where you can tell me what's going on with the duke as i am not there in CONE to ensure the Duke always wearing a hat. I'm a girl cone. And i have autism. And it's scary in America. I miss you Glaswegians and your humour and weather.(Yes really. The weather.) If anyone feels like keeping me posted about current hats and outfits the Duke might be wearing i would be so very grateful.
The title of this post is the page. I just... I need you. No Scotland. No party.
Why is it so hard getting a job here, and Iām not the only one even my friends say the same, even my friends whoāve lived here for years say itās hard to get one unless your referred. At first I blamed it on my age, but even when the job requirements mention that I donāt need much experience and can be above 16 I still donāt get the job š WHAT AM I DOING WRONG. I agree I do not have experience, but all the jobs I applied to have mentioned that, experience is not needed. And all I hear back is āyou donāt fit our age criteriaā even tho it clearly showed even under 18ās can work for the position. Please help me out.
Gig at Room 2 tonight was amazing. HappySad Face was strange and hilarious too ššøšø
Been a bit down recently. In my early 30s and I'm unhappy with how boring and unadventurous and lonely I am. Feel like I'm pissing my life away, just working then sitting home alone.
I've got a day in the city soon because of a medical appointment, what are some fun things I could do or see to beat the blues? I never really do stuff like this for myself so I'm not brimming with ideas.
Was thinking of maybe going to a nice bakery I saw in the West End, any other nice wee things I could do for myself?
Cheers ā¤ļø
I was walking near Gallery of Modern Art this evening and some female drunken individual (possibly underage) decided it was a nice idea to throw food at me. I didn't provoke such reaction I didn't even notice her until I felt food flying near my head, although she was so drunk that she couldn't hit me from 1 meter distance. The most annoying part that during that time I was also eating and a small piece of her food flew in my mouth (yeah I don't remember how it tasted). Idk was she trying to feed me?
Anyway, I decided not to escalate to anything beyond verbal, since she didn't get physical. Just called a police. Unfortunately I don't think police will do anything.
I mean why do people think it is okay to behave like animals. Does it happen a lot in Glasgow centre?
Image: she also stole a shopping basket from nearby tesco
Anyone had an iPhone battery replacement done recently? Everyone seems to charge Ā£50 bar apple who want Ā£85. Anyone have any recommendations?
Going to look at a house this week and it ārequires modernisationā according to the estate agent which is their talk for not been touched since the 70s. What sort of budget would I need to rewire a 3 bed house in Glasgow?
Can you all suggest me where to go ? What all to do ? M coming frm Edinburgh. Let me know if would like to join me . Thanks š±
Hi there, I am about to move to Glasgow and am wondering what the best apps are for buses in Glasgow - for example, in Edinburgh and The borders there is Lothian buses and Borders buses - what is the Glasgow equivalent? Any good apps for the bus/subway? And finally, do the buses in Glasgow allow you to go with card? Thank you!
Don't know how to edit posts on here so I'll just make another one. I posted a few days ago about a problem with mice in my flat, after another day of waiting for a call from everwarm that still didn't come, despite explaining to them that this situation needs resolved urgently due to mental health, I decided enough was enough and gave pet solutions a call so we can finally get some action. We'll be getting a call back from a guy called Max to arrange a date for him to come out and put some traps in the loft, they will do 3 visits and we've been told that it's guaranteed to take 30 days to resolve this so fingers crossed this will finally work. I'm gonna be Ā£220 out of pocket but I don't care anymore. I just want this fixed.
If I appeal a fine, will I have to pay the full Ā£100 if itās unsuccessful or will I have an opportunity to pay the lesser Ā£50?
FYI - I received a parking fine in an area of the West End I didnāt know was a restricted area. Turns out there was a pay and display sign but this was about 60-70m away from my car, on a wall of residential property, was at knee height and had cars parked in front of it. Also no parking bay markings around my car or double yellows.
Looking to forgo the typical online Christmas shop this year and pick up some unique gifts from around town.
What are your goto Christmas gift shops in Glasgow (and the surrounding areas)? Ideally looking for places that sell cool, well-made things not just bulk buy rubbish and marked up Temu tat.
Recommendations especially welcome for great local food gifts ideas like chocolates, booze, and fancy coffee.
Thanks for any help and hereās hoping this thread can act as a resource for anyone else in the group looking to get their loved ones some decent presents this year!
Iām staying in the premier inn next week for a couple days and Iām looking for a gym nearby.
Looking for a night course or experience for my Mumās Christmas. She did six weeks of flower arranging a few years back and absolutely loved that. Looking for something interesting like that. Could be a one off or over a few weeks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I'm just wondering if anyone who frequents the shop knows if it's just citadel paint or what they sell looking for a place that sells vallejo. Any place in glasgow who sell the stuff. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know if this has been scrapped now?
Was walking through it today and noticed the plans which use to be on the wall by the PureGym have gone, wondering if it's been scrapped or just delayed till who knows when.
Hey I have 2 tickets for london grammar tonight at the hydro. Unfortunstely, I can't go and don't want them to go to waste. First come first served. DM me
Thought I'd come here to ask! Off the top of your head, can you think of any coffee shops, cafƩs, maybe even bookshops that have public bulletin boards where the public/businesses can post flyers? I work for a small publisher, and we're looking for local writers for our next collection. I'd love to post a few flyers around, and I'm willing to take a stroll and pop into shops, but I thought I'd ask you folks for suggestions first.
Note: yes, I've already completed a full-blown marketing/promotion strategy. Based on the topic of the collection, I thought it would be nice to step offline and "meet the people where they're at."
Thanks in advance!
Anyone live in the Oatlands area? Whats it like? I am from up North and have rented in Battlefield the last 4 years and looking to buy somewhere for myself next year.
I really like battlefield & Shawlands but realistically cannot afford to buy here with how much everywhere is going over home report
Do flats in Oatlands tend to go over home report? And if they do how much over, is it as bad as battlefield? (10%/15%/20% over HR)
Thanks
Is there a map that has all the planned cycle lanes?
Info seems to be dotted around different sources (public realm documents, council active travel maps, planning documents from different times). It would be nice to picture how the city would look in 10 years.
Hey guys! I'm looking for some pictures of the neon signs that were displayed in the Linwood Showcase Cinema - I think they were Marilyn Monroe and a dinosaur? It would be great if yous could share some pictures of these if possible as I don't think the signs are on display any more. Thanks!
Food critic Gary Eats has visited Glasgow to review the Ā£4.00 lunch at The Star Bar in the Southside of the city.
Itās a wonderful video full of praise for the pub and its commitment to offering good affordable food for the local community.
The comments are a great read too. Have a look.
One person said: "This has to be one of the very best if not the best Gary Eats video. Totally heart warming tear jerker. Well done the Star Bar."
Hi! Iām looking to apply to the Computer Arts and Animation HND that the college offers but iād like to hear about how others found the course/college.
Iāve heard both good things and bad about the college and i would like to know what itās actually like to go there before moving. Thanks!
For those who study at Strathclyde, I received my accommodation offer (Forbes Hall) and wanted to know if there were any stories about that place.
I googled and they are āaltostratus undulatusā clouds I believe.
