I was wondering if I would be stuck with the same people on second semester.
Just got accepted for a postgraduate program for fall 2025! Would love to get some insight on how it is for an international student. The social life and housing and overall living in Glasgow
Do you have particular advice or tactics for open book exams?
p.s paper notes and books allowed, engineering
I’ve recently transferred from an English uni and I’m so confused by the grading system. What’s a B2:16 roughly equivalent to in percentages for a BA course?
A volunteer-run, established digital publication - is looking for reviewers between the age of 20-40 to attend shows, and write reviews following the show. No experience writing reviews is required as we're looking to provide accessible reflections to others within this age demographic. Good English is a must but we're not writing essays - reviews are usually 400-600 words and we do provide a star rating. The main T & C is that reviews must be submitted to the editor for review within 36 hrs - we aim to publish all reviews within 48hrs to provide theatres/productions with ample time to use our reviews in promotion. All shows would be comped - usually 1 ticket, sometimes we're lucky and you can have a second for a friend. Reliability is a must but we understand sometimes things happen and all we ask is communication with the Editor in these instances. If you are interested please drop me a message.
Bc how tf did that guy find an entire table on the second floor it actually irks me how full it is in here
Hey, has anyone took this before and would know what the exam is like thanks so much
Now it’s currently exam season and literally 1/2 the desks in the library are occupied by Laptops, Airpods, Water Bottles (usually a combination of some / all of these).
There should be staff on each floor that are monitoring how long people are leaving for + moving there things after a certain period. I’ve been sat here for 3+ hours and someone has not returned to where they’ve left their stuff. It’s so frustrating and something needs to be done about this. You should not be able to reserve a desk while you are not there. Fair enough if you’re at a water fountain / in the toilet. But if you’ve gone a transatlantic voyage WHY are you reserving a desk?
I’m having to consistently walk around 2/3 floors to find a spot - and 1/2 the time i’m somewhere with no plug so cannot charge my laptop when I need to.
It’s utterly insane that on a SUNDAY I can’t even find a space to sit. Yet, literally 3/4 of desks are empty just occupied by a coat / laptop.
TLDR; why do people reserve desks for multiple hours when they’re not there? PLEASE STOP.
Hi guys :)
I'm considering doing Latin at Glasgow, however I'm not sure if I should do it by itself or as a joint degree. (or if i should do it at all..)
I intend to do a postgraduate course at Glasgow after, the main requirement being a 2.1 honours in any subject - are languages considered especially hard?
Also, what do employers think about language degrees (on a dead language no less). I plan to go into archiving/preservation so while it could be helpful there, I'm not too confident when compared to something like Ancient History or Archaeology.
EDIT: Nevermind, I don't think Glasgow does joint degrees involving Latin?
hi! i'll be coming in to glasgow uni on exchange next year, and i decided to stay in student apartments instead of murano because i waned a bigger room!
i love partying, so i'm a little scared i won't have much of a social life because i'm not within murano itself. how does socializing/partying typically work here?
if anyone has any tips on partying/socialising culture in glasgow, or has good bar/club recommendations, please comment!
hey i keep getting proxy error if i try to login to mycampus has anyone else had the same issue
Has anyone taken CS1PX and CS1S before? Is the degree exam in person or online?
Hiya, is there scope to play around with turnitin outside of moodle? I submitted my first assignment and got given my Turnitin ID number back. I’m curious to understand how it works
Hi everyone, I’m a second-year international student, and I recently received the grade for an essay I worked really hard on. It’s worth 40% of my overall grade, and I ended up with a C1. I honestly thought the essay was strong and expected at least a B, so this result has really hit me hard.
I spent a lot of time preparing and felt confident in my arguments, but now I feel like I’ve failed and am questioning my abilities. The grade has left me feeling overwhelmed and very stressed about my future.
I've heard that Glasgow uni has a majority population of scots, and as scotland isn't massive i can imagine a fair amount of students would just go home on weekends or on shorter holidays when the average student would not. Is this true?
I saw someone in my business lecture wearing an Adam smith business school hoodie and wondered where can I get one? They don’t have them in the gift shop in the Gilbert Scott or on the website so just wondered if there is somewhere else that sells university merch?
Anyone here who has interviewed for the position of Reach Out Ambassador at the University? I need to know what they ask and what should I be expecting from the interview
Hi I know this question's probably been asked to death here, but I'd like to find out about the current student accommodation situation for Uni of Glasgow! For context, I'm a Year 4 international student in healthcare intending to do just 1 month of a local elective placement next May at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. I read about the Halls that Uni of Glasgow offers e.g. Murano, Queen Mary, and I would actually be quite keen on staying here to get the local uni experience and meet people, but I'm just not sure if these hostels offer a place for such a short stay/whether people sublet their units out. If not, would there be any good (and safe) accommodations in the area where I can have a social life too? Would prefer to stay in the city too!
Thanks!
Hi, I'm a first year student at Glasgow uni. Sometimes when I'm in lectures one of the other students will sit next to me and rub my leg and squeeze my thigh mid lecture. I've asked her to stop but she keeps doing it. Does anyone have any advice on what to do?
I'm in my last year of high school planning to go to Glasgow university after. I've just been given an iPad 10th generation (64GB if that's important), and I'm aware these support keyboards with touchpads etc.
Because I got the iPad for free, if i were to buy a keyboard for it (say the logitech one) it feels to my I'm getting a uni laptop for £100, likely saving me a decent chunk of money on a laptop.
However, I'm intruiged to know what others think about this, and what kind of experiences they've had doing a similar thing.
Help is appreciated!
P.S: I am studying politics at Glasgow university, if that's helpful. Not lots of equations and maths sort of stuff.
Hello,
International PGT student here and struggling to pay my tuition fee. I had enough amount in my parent’s account before coming here but this was a loan from a friend which we ended up giving it back. I have paid 3 out of 8 installments so far. But I have no idea how I will pay the rest. (I have 10K scholarship which will not be increased no matter what). I was trusting a temporary job relocation that my father will be getting in the future. My father is supposed to get a temporary job relocation for few months which would cover 2-3 of my tuitions but the date is not set. It is certain that it is going to happen but don’t know if it is in 1 month or 5 months. It may be as late as April which means he will get the extra money in summer (For a reference, this relocation pays 4 times more, but it is only for few months.) I know they allow for late payment for two months but I don’t know what to do. And I think no one is really helping. They just state the facts. The fact that I must pay it on time or I will be kicked out. What would you do if you were me?
Hi guys!
I'm currently on exchange and I ended up taking a semester 2 class instead of a semester 1 class!!!
Does that mean I have to repeat a whole year?? Or can they let me take it next year? That class is only offered in Fall, so I'm kinda screwed...
I’m applying for masters in international business at Glasgow and I wanted to know if it’s a course worthy of pursuing from here. I’ve heard a lot of good things about uni of Glasgow and it has to be one of my top universities. However a couple of people I spoke to told me that such courses at really good universities are “for people who want to vacay in the UK” I wanted to know if such masters in management courses are worth pursuing from here.
I have been given a conditional offer for a psychology MA and I want to study business and management with it, to do that I’m gonna have to change it to psychology MA socsci and I have a few questions
Any help is appreciated
My center didn’t add my predicted grade through UCAS.. I have sent them an inquiry through the admissions webpage. What should I do?? I don’t know if they will reach out to me or my referee or I’ll have to mail them accordingly… I haven’t uploaded any documents in the Glasgow portal yet.
I am a male Asian student, last night around 11pm I was walking home from library. A guy walked to me and said he just lost his brother because of Sudanese Civil War, and asked me if I could give him a hug. I said yes, then he started to kiss me, bite my cheeks and lips, even tried to take his dick out… He followed me and didn’t let me go until I took out my phone and started to call the police.
I am feeling so bad now and I don’t know what to do, I need some help…..
