Hey all! Been listening to this song by Alistair McDonald and have always wondered if it is an original or is a well-known mouth music tune.

Hey folks, I recently discovered Biffy Clyro, and as an American, I’m kicking myself for not finding them sooner. But it got me thinking—so many of my favorite bands over the years have been Scottish: Del Amitri, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Franz Ferdinand… and of course, Frightened Rabbit will always hold a special place in my heart.
Scotland, you’ve been quietly shaping my music taste for years. Cheers to that! Any other must-listen Scottish bands I should check out?

I was wondering if anyone knew the name of the instrumental tunes played at the very end? I swear I've heard it before. Music recognition software isn't helping because they are all just linking back to that one video.
Hey folks. Just a post to seek advise or pointers on the live music front today.
Part of a band starting up where a large focus will be online via patreon and our own website but will want to get out and play live as well. But it's been a while since we've been on the scene and just looking for any pointers on reliable promoters/promotions and live venues out there nowadays.
Understand there different experiences out there but any help will be appreciated.
A sci-fi techno banger from Glasgow
Hello
I am from South America and I have absolutely no knowledge about Scottish music (except if you count the metal band Alestorm). What are some bands that you'd recommend for someone who would like to get a bit acquainted with it? More specifically, its folk music. Any particular bands or songs that you feel are particularly representative?
Thanks in advance for helping me out :)
Hi !
I'm curious about discovering old and new post punk bands from Scotland. Do you have any names ?
Thx !
New Girobabies video out today ahead of the 'Dreams are Mental' album launch on March 29th.
okay so, i am the lead in a band and we are unsure of where to start with getting gigs. We are obviously based in fife round dunfermline. Does anyone know where we would be able to play? Keeping in mind we can’t really do bars because we are all minors. We are willing to travel really anywhere in fife and potentially edinburgh but would rather keep it as local as possible for now, thanks🙂
Hello dear redditors, I'm hoping someone can help me find a band with some very vague info from my memory.
They most likely would have been active in Glasgow in the early to mid 2010s. A folk/indie vibe. The lead singer was a woman. I had a CD that a friend gave me (I'm from the US) and I unfortunately lost the CD but I used to love it a lot.
One of the songs seemed to be about cancer, possibly bone cancer. The word Bird was in the title or prominently in the lyrics, I'm not sure if it was the same song about cancer or a different song though.
I think the word "Blood" may have been in the band or album name.
If I remember correctly the color of the album art was a pale green.
Any guesses?
This is, by far, my second favourite Scottish song. It's heart breaking, really. The harmony between Roy and Ronnie's voice' for the chorus, and the lyrics break me. Does anyone else enjoy this song a lot as well?
"Their woeful fate what need I tell? Och ón, och ón, och rie. My Donald and his country fell upon Culloden field."
Brilliant song.

Unfortunately for me I’ve paid more for most of them already, but just a heads up if anyone is looking to fill any gaps in their collection.
Never been to the Hive, ever, let alone for a gig. Would it be better than the Catty for seeing a band live?
Obviously neither would be a choice, but someone booked it.
