I want to make a staff based off of the fog condensers in Fallout 4's Far Harbor DLC. I have a few ideas on how to put this together, but I'm brand new to prop making and need some advice on how to make this as lightweight as possible, and possible to disassemble/reassemble to fit into a checked suitcase. The most pressing issue is that I have no idea how I should make the propeller(?) blades, the frame around the glowing tube, or the base that attaches the propeller blades to the staff's body.
My thoughts on how to make the rest of the staff:
All of this feels like it should work in my head, but I'd hate to buy all these materials and then end up a fool with a staff that's too heavy or fragile to carry around. I'll be walking around outside with this, so it needs to be able to stand up to a moderate breeze or some jostling without breaking. If I'm somehow horribly overestimating my abilities here, I'm not that averse to just not having this prop at all. I'm also fine with this looking a bit like hot garbage. I'll probably look even more fitting for a Fallout cosplay.
tl;dr I need help on how to make most of the fog condenser's head section, keep the whole staff lightweight, and make it possible to disassemble for packing.
starting on the 3d components!
Hi there! I'm seeking ideas for a post-apoc airsoft game's props, and would like to get some from you guys ;)
Story/concept: The whole game is built on Stalker, but has elements from Fallout, and similar games/movies/books too, even own elements, and FPS games. The game will also include "monsters", they will be quite powerful. Two PMC like factions will fight for the best loot, and to extract from the "Zone".
What we already have(mostly DIYed by me):
-Basic ground loot(money, materials, etc.)
-"interactable" items, like an Exoskeleton, a special helmet, super powerful melee weapons.
-relics, which have either + or - effect on the user/owner.
-medical loot(COD style stimshots, bandages, CATs, "drugs"(vitamin pills lol))
Question:
If you've read until this point, and you have any ideas, please share with us, it would be very much appreciated!
I can 3D print, so that's not a probelm!
.
Made a Magic headpiece and sword from paper cause my 3d printer broke.. hopefully I can remake it soon with filament
The armor is recycled and refurbished
So i made a Cosplay Staff, but after i primed Everything, i saw that i need to change the pvc pipe under it. Can i still use a Heat gun to reshape the left one? Or is it too late now? :‘) Pieces contains of a pvc pipe, foam clay and coat of mod podge. Really dont wanna redo him Completely.. :‘)
I want to cosplay as killua from hunterxhunter but I think my cosplay it’s missing something and that’s why I wanted to try to make my hands look like they have electricity around them with led I was thinking something like optic fiber led but let me know what y’all think (it’s my first time doing cosplay btw)
i would like to make a gas mask but i cant find any emplates that are free, if anyone has them or knows where to find them, it would b of great help. thx!
I recycled the body of an old prop and 3d printed a new head, installed a smoke machine and pink LEDs but its not fully finished yet
And sorry I look so mad it was just so heavy and ai was focusing on not dropping it😭
Hello! I recently decided to tackle cosplaying in the form of my favorite skin from Overwatch, and while I have researched how you would create a helmet for a cosplay, what would the process be for recreating a helmet that is bigger than the wearer's head by quite a lot? I guess my question boils down to:
How should I go about making the general shape? I know you would usually measure your own head via a cardboard frame or such, and then build around it, but in this case the helmet is wider than my head by a lot. I am planning on using eva foam, but I do not know how I would even begin sculpting the shape of this particular helmet as a newbie. Any tips would be appreciated!
Hi all! New to the subreddit so please take down if not allowed. I'm a bit new to making cosplay props and of course my extra nature wants to make a functional horse using a bike... this is to use during a large LARP event next year. I'm starting with a plain bicycle as a base. Any ideas on what to sculpt the frame out of that will stay lightweight but allow me to shape a horse's frame? Anything is welcome, thank you!!
First prop I made. It is powered with 6 AA batteries. 12v led strip for light. Core made from PVC pipe, teeth have metal cores as well. EVA foam for outer shell. It was a blast making it!
Hello everyone one.
I am in need of some guidance.
I have a pair of fake uggs for a costume but they are super slippery.
I bought some grip pads but when I put the shoe goo on it they came off rather quickly. Granted I didn’t let them dry for the 24 hours.
Is there a better glue ? Should I just try again? Also I have already scored the bottoms as well.
Any help would be great
My daughter (14 F) is making a budget cosplay of Ogerpon from Pokémon and is planning on making the Teal Mask. We made a mockup together in cardboard to plan it out, and it is definitely not going to be the material we use for the final product. Is there anything cheap and easy to use for beginners in cosplays / prop making? I’ve heard foam works, but wouldn’t that be hard to paint?
I tried with some kind of contact glue but it broke...
I always have this problem of little parts of the paint falling and I'm not sure how to fix this, I usually use a clear coat on top but maybe it's not enough. This part is very dense, it doesn't bend at all so it's not that. All suggestions are appreciated, thank you.
