'/r/copperhoarders' is a pro-copper subreddit for all who decide to stack copper, in any form (bronze coinage, bars, wire rolls, sheeting) as a hedge against inflation, or for anyone wishing to learn more about the amazing red metal.

Relevant copper news and stack pictures are always welcome.

Resources and Important Information:

The fundamentals for owning copper may be found

Copper cent stacking is currently one of the best ways to invest in copper. As more cents are taken out of circulation by large-scale sorting operations, the window of opportunity for economically hand-sorting cents is slowly closing. Once closed, the next opportunity to economically hoard copper cents will be when gold, silver, and copper are priced fairly. Then, profit from hand-sorting cents may be realized in intrinsic value. However, if one starts stacking at that time, one probably has already missed the PM boat.

A current melt/export ban on cents and nickels prevents immediate profit via melting and selling coinage as scrap, but when the ban is lifted, many large-scale operations will be melting down pennies for scrap. The ban on melting cents is to be technically lifted when the cent is taken out of circulation (a very likely probability in the near future).

At current prices, each copper cent saved brings you approximately $0.02 in intrinsic value. A nickel will net you about $0.06 each. The numbers, over the long term, will only go up, considering all the fundamentals supporting copper.

At one time in our collective past, one hundred copper cents was intrinsically the equivalent of .77 Troy Ounces of silver (a silver dollar). Ten of those silver dollars could be exchanged for a 90% Au $10 Eagle. Those ratios were decided upon, and supported, by centuries of free-market pricing.

Dollar manipulation by the Federal Reserve has severely damaged the real value of the cent. More info here. Most of us are in a state of amnesia, forgetting just how important base coinage is to a society that runs on precious metal coinage.

Besides, if the proverbial dung ever hits the proverbial fan, or if we collectively decided as a country to return to real money, we are going to need to make change for our silver coinage. The solution? The copper cent.

Copper oxidation/discoloring display question

Hey guys, I collect copper rounds and want to display some of my cooler ones. I have a challenge coin stand. I would like to display them raw instead of in mylar sleeves because they look so much better. Will exposure to regular atmosphere cause them to oxidize or discolor? Or is it just oils from handling? I have cloth coin handling gloves. Also have zinc, brass and others. Same question applies.

Thanks!

Starting off

Hello, I'm starting off copper stacking with the old boiler pipes from my house. Me and my father have removed our old boiler from 1970 when the house was build along with a few pipes. Most of them are still in the house but they will be removed. I plan on saving for a while until I can them smelted down and casted for a collection. I've always been fascinate by the metal. I've been trying to work it in with cosplays as well with home decor.

Scored an old collection from the bank. The federal reserve rolls are pre 1982 and sealed. 40 rolls total and all of them are pre 1982

Copper Demand is Expected to Increase 31% by 2030

It seems exceptionally logical that copper demand is expected to rise 31% by 2030. New infrastructure, green energy such as solar, and the electrification of the developing world. Copper is very involved in our society today and it certainly could increase in importance. Mike Gunning of VR Resources breaks down the copper market - YouTube

On the other hand China is expected to release metal reserves to try and control the market: China to Release Metal Reserves in Effort to Tame Commodities Rally - WSJ Do you think this will have a big effect?

What do you think? Copper bull or bear?

Thoughts on Copper Bullion

Okay, I'm gonna cut to the chase. I have one copper bullion one ounce. I got it as a gift. I wanted to ask this subreddit though... Is copper bullion a scam? I ask because the premiums for copper are insane.
