Has anyone gotten their refund?

I know they have until the fourth but I’m dying over here lmao I have to go to the grocery store. I wish they were faster with all this.

Edit: I’m a senior and I use Chime. I don’t trust the banks they use since bank mobile was so awful.

No credits or requirements satisfied by CLEP

Hello! Really just posting this so that maybe someone in the future trying to find this answer (like I was) won't wind up wasting $120 on a CLEP exam that counts for nothing at Columbus State.

I received conflicting information from two advisors + the CLEP credit guide. Took and passed the Composition exam. It amounts to 0 credits (expected) but also does not even satisfy the requirement to take the Composition 1100 course.

Advice: don't trust your first (or second) source on this... but as of Spring 2025 this is accurate!

Spring 2025 semester

My classes are:

  • introduction to business (Micheal anselm

  • principles of microeconomics 8 weeks from January to March 8th (Melanie hildebrandt)

  • principles of accounting 2 (ura sudharah) (can’t remember how to spell their name)

The only option as of right now I can take for micro is the 8 week version with a good professor until someone from eCore responds to my email question on possibly opening another slot with Amy eremionkhale.

My question to anyone here for me is how are 8 week vs 16 week courses? The only two classes I would have to choose between in that format are micro and macro. I am so scared after hearing “faster paced”, “unreasonably crammed constant and testing/assignments” but others have told me “it’s not logical and most professors cut content out”

Please give me confidence becuase I’ve only taken 16 weeks classes 😭

Also, I work a low stress job 24 hours a week if that means anything

Does anyone know when thanksgiving break really is?

The website calendar says the 23rd of November, which is in 20 days. But I’ve been told by people there’s only 15 days left for break. Any ideas?

Hey y'all! Trying to get into this college but here's the catch

I graduated with a GED & looking at the website it requires a 2.5 HS GPA. Would I still be able to get into the college with just a GED? I graduated with my GED 4 years ago.

MIS with cybersecurity management (sophomore)

I wanted to know who else is taking a MIS degree online from Columbus State University? I hope it’s 100% online because I just went semi-stressing and arguing with multiple people from eCore advisors and my own CSU advisor about how I signed up for a class that had weird wording on showing a time for in person classes but the other half of the class is online.

Confusing right?

Well, come to find out, the eCore registration for Microeconomics and macroeconomics opens November and I should be able to register then.

So, has anyone has a hard time with registering for classes or poor experiences? I live in Lagrange and have a not so reliable vehicle to drive 85 miles collectively a day or something just to atttend and class for a degree that is labeled “ONLINE 100%”

Please give any insight of yourself that could be helpful 🫡 I do not want to have to sue the school for misguiding students into wrongful advertising of an “online degree” when (or if) that’s never been the case at all.

FYI here’s the degree: https://www.columbusstate.edu/academics/degrees-and-programs/bba-management-information-systems.php

MIS junior in Spring 2025: who else has graduated with this degree?

I am on the cybersecurity concentration and also learning to use TryHackMe alongside HackTheBox when I have the chance. I consider at some point looking into google certification(s). I don’t know if they carry CompTIA+ or Sec+ for example.

So my question is, since next fall 2025 I will be hopefully taking my first 3000 class, (3115: principles of information systems), who here has graduated with this degree? Have you loved the learning how to use the degree to work in IT or other tech roles? Why did you choose this degree? Tell me all about any experiences.

Job prospects advice

I will be graduating in a few years with a degree in “management information systems - cybersecurity management “

What I want to know is are there anyone in my current position of job hunting as your going to school for a network administrator job, systems administrator, networking based, security analyst, help desk etc.

I am feeling discouraged at the moment because I am 24 years old and a junior from reading some Redditors saying how “MIS is useless at teaching networking job skills or whatever” and this is what I have swapped to from Information Technology. I am currently taking accounting and will eventually take my “principles of information systems” course among others. I did not like that side of heavily reliant on Java programming which is why I switched (python is at the moment my top favorite). I enjoy these types of classes now more.

I want to learn about networking, LAN’s, WAN’s, hacking, cyber defense measures and more.

My question: since the concentration is cybersecurity, can I also utilize cybersecurity or technology based electives to equip myself with any knowledge I can obtain? Please give me any advice for earning an opportunity around the Lagrange city area because I have not had any great success on finding a company that has any help desk roles or entry level of any kinds. Is my degree useless…? Did I fuck something up :(

Please give me any opinions from yourselves and where you are in life.

College difficulty? “Hard” or “effort based”?

Hey there all; I am seeking a Mamagememt Information Systems degree with CyberSecurity concentration. I have 57 credits and plan on doing 9 credits next semester with my part time job of 24 hours a week (I get home at 3pm daily except Fridays through Sundays not including holidays)

What I want to know is since I’m close to being a junior, I am getting close to taking a 3000 level course. Here’s the degree for reference since I can’t remember a 3000 level name: https://catalog.columbusstate.edu/academic-units/business/marketing-management/management-information-systems-bba-cybersecurity/#programofstudytext

I want to know other people’s experiences in the difficulty in transitioning from 1000, 2000, to 3000 and even 4000 level courses. I am nervous and have been attempting to find tiktok videos of people explaining but I can’t find anything.

Do I have anything to worry about? Is 3000 and 4000 really that much difficulty in assignments, studying, workload? I intend to work hard and not screw around just as I have been.

MIS degree with cybersecurity management concentration

Hi guys. I work part time 24 hours a week and it’s pays $12 an hour which is barely enough but it’s manageable for minor gas bills and groceries for myself and my girlfriend.

For the record, the job is just a computer job of simple data entry and not hard but office politics is where it makes me stressed some days.

My girlfriend and I attend CSU and we have enjoyed it (I’m earning my Information systems degree and she’s going for earth and space science degree)

Question: What I want help or any advice at all from people’s experience is how do you manage your study’s time, completing assignments for this degree and making sure you’re passing without disrupting financial aid?

I am asking hopefully other people that are in the same degree but anyone with advice please add your thoughts as well since it could help someone.

I received federal Pell grant first time this fall semester 2024 and I want to use it to the best utilization. Is 3 classes that are 3 credit hours each too much for me in your opinion? I am at 57 credit hours out of 120 or 123, I can’t remember. I want to not lose federal Pell grant and make sure I am not overwhelming myself by creating stress that leads to exhaustion and failure because something backfired.
