Picked up my favorite pair of black pants from the tailor (in a white grocery bag) and promptly left them inside my e-bike basket around 3:30pm today. Realized at the end of the block, turned around and the bike was gone.
I called CitiBike but they said for security reasons, they can’t tell me where the bike was taken. I docked it at the Northern side of Gramercy Park.
Hoping this is one of those life affirming moments where someone here finds them. The pants are a faded black cotton and without them, I have the unfortunate displeasure of trying to find the perfect pair of pants again - potentially a lifelong endeavor. Please let me know if you spot them in an ebike basket near you!
The tires on the electric CitiBike are overly rigid, making the ride uncomfortably stiff and potentially unsafe. Letting about 5 seconds' worth of air out of the front tire significantly improves the safety and comfort of the ride.
if i’m paying for the pass
Anytime I try to unlock a bike (e-bike and regular), it doesn’t let me without charging me one dollar before I undock. I have the yearly membership, so it should be free. Anyone know why this is happening?
I ordered my bike key around 2 weeks ago, and from what I read on this sub, I was expecting it to take around 2-3 months, or not even show (based on other people’s experiences). However, to my delight, my key showed up today.
Just wanted to give an update if anyone else was wondering on the current status on deliveries.
Amazing experience, would highly recommend. Unfortunately a bunch of the runners were super slow and got in my way, but clipping them a few times with my handlebars and ringing the bell often eventually convinced them to steer clear.
The safety vest was also a great idea as people don’t have time to realize you’re not supposed to be part of the race!
The ride at the top took place much earlier than the others. I was late to work so I decided to take an ebike.
I meant to check/top up my credit beforehand but forgot. Rather than parking and refilling, I figured technically the charge comes at the end so why couldn't I add credit... I was wrong but good to know the answer for science purposes
My husband got off his bike to talk to a book seller near the farmers market at 110 next to morningside park. As he was talking someone must have switched the bikes because the bike he returned was not the same serial number as the one he took out.
Now Lyft is of course saying he’s on the hook for $1200 unless the bike is returned. He tried to file a police report but went to two precincts with no luck.
Anything else he can do?
Hi all,
I usually use Google maps to get around. One huge issue I've had is when Central Park has an event and closes bike routes. Does the Citibike mapping function (how to get there) take Central Park closings into account? If not, how about Waze? Or other apps? I got into a terrible mess today because of tomorrow's marathon!
Thanks.
I just started 2 months ago. Made 400 dollars worth of gift cards. I do this once a week. Idk how I’m “supposed” to bike angel. I don’t even make a lot of points lol. Is this common. Im about to quit the program entirely cause I like using citi bike. I just did this for some extra cash. If I wanted to get out the house. Thoughts?
I usually use my phone to unlock the bikes, just scan and go. The other day my phone died so I had to pay with my card manually, and when I was filling my info out on the screen I was forced to pick a plan for the day rather than just taking the bike and being charged normally for the however long I was riding. Has anyone else dealt with this or did I miss something?
did anyone lose a set.
one of them has a number engraved and there are colored rings on some.
Here’s mine. It’s a 4 minute walk and I have no clue what I did last summer.
After a few years of citi-biking I sadly am letting my account expire. The price increases over the last 12 months have turned Citi-biking into a luxury.
So sad to see it go, drastically will impact my quality of life in the City but at these rates it doesn’t make sense.
Hi, I'm starting out on Bike Angles and I am wondering if any veterans have any advice for taxes with Bike Angels? Do you write off any expenses like MTA fares that add up? Is there any other advice from people who do this for a substantial amount of the day? I also welcome any insight on what the winter months may be like as well. Thank you in advance.
I used to refer to this app to get a better sense of when to go out to collect points—a ‘once in a while’ ‘something to do’ activity for me.
But these days the app is not populating their basic map with their heat map. So, it’s useless.
I’ve reported it. Any explanations from other users?
I was in a hurry for a meeting and needed a quick ride, so I unlocked a Citi Bike. However, the bike wouldn’t release from the dock. I tried jamming it loose and even reported the issue, but since I was rushing, I eventually had to leave it.
When I returned an hour later, my account still showed the ride as active. I called customer support, but they said they couldn’t help until the ride ended. I offered to check and retrieve the bike myself, but they advised letting their team handle it. The ride remained open for 4 hours, resulting in a charge of $173 for a supposed 16-mile ride.
Afterward, customer service claimed the dock had no issues and said they couldn’t verify that I hadn’t actually taken the bike. Fortunately, I took a photo of the bike in the dock, showing it was unlocked but stuck, with unusual markings all over it.
They’re now saying they can’t process a refund. What steps can I take from here?
Hi all! Anyone notice that bike angels points aren’t showing in their accounts? I tried figuring this out with the chat feature; however, citibike tried to tell me I only get pickup points if a drop off is also offering points. I sent screenshots to prove this wasn’t true and they agreed then pedaled back on that statement. Curious if the system glitches sometimes and I simply lose out on the points, I had zero energy or interest in arguing with citibike via chat 😅 Tried searching the sub and didn’t see this issue!
Does this still apply if I scan through my Lyft app? Or must I use the Citi bike app?
Chain snapped while biking on Wyth and N12th. Luckily only a scraped knee, but jeez, that could have been bad.
