Hats that are not one size fits all

I have the misfortune of having a over sized head, and with my lessing of hair on top I am in need of a wide brimed hat, I have looked online with out a lot of luck so far, lots of we have hats which turn out to be base ball caps, or sized for a 'normal' head what ever that is, any ideas. PS not trying to look like I'm from Texas either.

Recommended law people / companies to go over my first company contract?

Just started a small company where I do data processing and automation and software etc and have been sent contract terms to sign and wanted to run it past a law professional for advice first. Do you have any recommendations and what is the typical process? (I'm based in chch) They don't need to view it asap but within 5-10 days would be good (is that reasonable?), and it would be nice to know the approx quote/price and not be super expensive. Cheers team!

Car aircon re-gas

Long story short, my old mazda sedan takes ages to blow cold air out when i turn on the aircon. "Cold air" is an understatement as the air it blows, is hardly cold. I talked to my car mechanice and he advised it the aircon most likely needs to be re-gassed. He has quoted me a price but i want to check with general consensus if they know other places who has this services and what's the average price for it ?

Will be nice for a change not to get toasted inside the car.

need mechanic help

Hi,

Im hoping theres any mechanic here that have worked on a suzuki aerio (Liana on some countries). My car has been cutting off, like stalling after around 25 to 30mins of driving. After pulling on the side of the road, make it rest of a bit, car starts right up again like nothing happened, and it would cut off again after 20 to 30mins of driving. Ive been to two mechanics already and they havent found any problem.

Beware: Got robbed by someone off dating app

Just want to make everyone aware of what happened to me today. I was robbed in my own home by a lowlife I met on Grindr.

He first messaged me, asking if I wanted to meet for a quick hookup and said he could come over right away. I thought, why not? I usually host without any issues, so I agreed.

Everything seemed fine at first, but during the act, he said he needed to grab something from his car and told me he’d be back in a jiffy. I didn’t think much of it since he seemed normal.

However, after a few minutes, he blocked me on Grindr. That’s when I started feeling uneasy. I went to the lounge to see if he was still around, only to discover that he had stolen my gaming system and accessories, worth about $1,700, and left.

The guy is either Māori or Polynesian, around 5’5”, short curly hair, has a goatee, and was wearing black shorts and a black hoodie. He’s very active on Grindr but doesn’t have much info or pictures on his profile. He claimed to prefer being discrete, saying he’s popular in the radio circle in Christchurch. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take a screenshot of his profile as he either blocked me or deactivated his account straight away.

This was a huge wake-up call for me, and it’s probably the last time I’ll ever use that app. It’s becoming increasingly unsafe, and I wanted to share this as a warning for others. Stay vigilant and protect yourself.

Setting up house & home from start! Meridian ok?

Hi guys, setting up a new flat from start - completely new services accounts. I'm thinking Meridian for power at least, are they ok?? Possibly will bundle broadband or fibre, too, so any recommendations there, my good people?

Thanks all

Aramex Question

I know I'm not the only person who has experienced issues with Aramex so I thought I'd ask for advice here. I purchased an item online in November and unfortunately, didn't realise UPS use Aramex once their parcels are in NZ, otherwise I would have sent it to YouShop. I wish I had.

My question is, has anyone had experience just going into their depot and asking for their parcel, providing them with the tracking number and some ID? I'm already upset and stressed over this (it was an expensive purchase that sold out in minutes upon release so I cannot rebuy it) and would rather avoid the seemingly pointless daily emails and phone calls to Aramex asking for my parcel to be delivered, which as many of you will know, may not even show up at the correct address. I'm not close to the depot but am willing to make the trip if anyone has had a positive experience retrieving their item/s this way. Any other help would be amazing, if anyone has additional advice. I'm feeling very disheartened. Thank you!

Is the price of life $63,500?

It was 31 degrees in Christchurch yesterday and Burwood Hospital's grounds are tinder dry and grass knee-high. It's an extreme fire risk.

The hospital houses 240 older person's health, orthopedic, and spinal rehabilitation inpatients. All have serious illness or mobility issues. They can't move quickly. It takes one exhaust or spark to ignite a fire yet the Ministry deems it unnecessary to staff a gardener's role.

It's not only fire risk. Spinal patient wheelchairs get tangled in the long grass and stuck while getting fresh air (no air con inside). The theatres must be closed if bugs from the grass and weeds get inside - potentially resulting in no surgeries.

80 million granted to Solar Zero last year - now in liquidation, 72 million to IT contractors and consultants (in 2 years) written off with minimal media fuss. Can you find a measly $63,500 in Santa's sack to keep our most vulnerable safe? I'm disgusted.

Orthopedic rehabilitation - FIRE RISK

Theatre - BUG RISK

Carpark - EXHAUST SPARK RISK

SPINAL - FIRE RISK

Keen for those Airpoints…

(Sure I can google this, but have found some some businesses state they accept Amex on their website but in practice, they don’t. Any tips gratefully received!)

Black coal falling from sky?

Does anyone know what this black coal like substance that was falling from the sky was yesterday? I work on Wordsworth Street and it was blowing everywhere.

Looks like dirt in the photo but up close it’s black and when rubbed between fingers it grinds down like coal/ ash and feels like it to…

Hoping it’s not from the crematorium on Hawdon Street.

Live Indian Raga performances in Christchurch

Over past few months, we've been educating ourselves on the rich history and complexities of Indian Raga music styles (Indian equivalent to Western Classical Music). Long shot, but thought we'd ask if anyone knows of any Raga groups or live performances of Raga music in Christchurch? Thanks!

suggestions for abandoned areas

I want to do a photoshoot with someone, but I have a terrible imagination for locations. The vibe is a bit sad/emo and abandoned buildings etc would be perfect. I went to bishopdale mall and it’s bleak but not quite bleak enough lmao. bonus points if it’s north chch

The gridlock around 8:45 - 9am this morning was caused by a train traveling at walking pace northwards up the Main North Line

It even came to a stop across the Riccarton Road crossing, all the while triggering crossing bells further north when the train was literally minutes away

Looking for a good dentist.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for recommendations for a good dentist in Christchurch. My current dentist hasn’t been able to sort out an issue with one of my teeth, which might need a root canal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Christchurch night clubs

Sooo im wanting to know if there is any new night clubs or anything in the works to be opening anytime soon?
Hide is cool, but its a little small and its a niche type of people that go there, usually for ticketed events

Sin hasnt changed in the 5 years its been doing nightclub there, same décor, same songs etc and its dead every friday

Fat eddies only has bands, probably the busiest place on the strip but its not a nightclub ya know

Chiwawa's you cant even see the dj and if you need to go toilet, you have to climb the crowd to be able to get to the toilets. They also play the exact same songs each week. They tried doing the new lights but theyre all the same as the old lights so doesnt really do much

We are wanting somewhere like sin but something new, not a band or a dj in the corner like the other places on the strip. We have been going to flat parties instead which we love but we would rather go somewhere new.

Looking for moving help

My partner is especially determined to leave Auckland as soon as possible. He's currently in a single-minded quest to find ways to move our things back to CHCH before Christmas.

Our issues are we only have enough things to fill a bedroom (tv, bed, PC Setup, obviously out clothes and linens) and some kitchen appliances but the moving quotes are beyond wild. $2500 was the cheapest quote so far. Moving up 2 years ago, for the same items I only had to pay 850.

My partner is thinking of renting a truck to move our things ourselves but I can't drive, so we'll have to figure out a way to take our car while he drives the moving truck.

Anyone experience moving down recently? I vaguely remember there's the option of couch surfers arranging to borrow cars to drive around the country and then only paying for the fuel used. Would that be feasible? Thanks very much!
