Accident on Fanshawe Street, today 4:07 ish PM

First things first - very glad no injuries. Cars can be bought new and repaired, the scars on human bodies lasts forever.

Black BMW hatchback and Blue Holden sedan.

I witnessed it as I was walking to Wynyard Quarter to meet a client

There was a third car a black Mitsubishi which I think an illegal turn and then sped off the wrong way after the accident.

It happened really fast but I believe this black Mitsubishi caused the crash.

To the driver of the Black BMW hatchback, in my view you were not at fault. Also hats off to you mate you were cool and calm.

I did not come over as you were already being assisted by 5-6 people who knew exactly what they were doing. Just posting it here.

Where to watch the US election.

Are there any bars around the CBD showing the US election results as they come in? Im keen to either drown my sorrows or pop a bottle of champagne…

Removeable Couch Covers

After any recommendations for custom couch covers. Our couch is only a few years old and we really like it, my partner in particular is very attached to it and is fussy about couches. Unfortunately our dogs have stained it pretty badly and our puppy scratched a hole in it. So instead of buying a new couch, I really want to get a custom cover made for it, but haven't found anything online (found two but they didn't reply to my email) so checking here if anyone has any recommendations

What's so great about this place? I just discovered it on the map not so long ago. Worth living out there considering the one road in, one road out situation ?

Got your tickets to Metallica in Auckland?

I got two tickets in the Mastercard pre-sale which were GA2 at $263 plus fees. I wanted a seated ticket for another person and tried again in the Livenation presale on Friday - but this was $450 by the time I got to them. Finally today, I tried extensively for a seated ticket and ended up with one for $400 in a lounge. Slightly cheaper than the ones that were $450. But it was what I could get.

I often go to the stadium gigs and when I tried I could not get cheaper tickets this time round, whereas I have paid cheaper prices for Pink and Coldplay etc.

Any good places to go Kayaking with dogs?

What to try kayaking with our dog over the weekend (somewhere not too far from Auckland but can stay for up to 1 night). Would need to be a place where we can rent Kayaks on the spot as well - does anyone know a good place to go? Preferably a bay or a lake with calm waters.

Thanks.

IRONMAN MEDIA PERSON

Hey everyone - I’m a 22 year old from Canada who is starting from near scratch to train for an half Ironman. I plan on training for the next 4 months. I have a good life story leading up to this and would love to document it to have a video in the end. Anyone interested in working alongside me in media and seeing what we can put together? (I have no media experience). Am happy to pay, just want to see who’s out there.

Why is Auckland fuel so much more expensive than the rest of NZ?

Just been down to Manuwatu, Taranaki and Waikato, where diesel could be found for around $1.60 per litre.

In Auckland it's more around $1.80 per litre.

Didn't the location-specific taxes come off? Shouldn't it be cheaper in a bigger place where there is less transporting needed and more competition between shops?

Applied for casual jobs - got offered a perm job

Hi

I’m a very broke uni student - I have 20 bucks total in my bank account. I have been applying for casual jobs over the summer like crazy.

One job got back to me - but they are offering a perm role - not casual. I have had no luck with any other roles. Is it a super dick move to work for 4 months or so and leave?

Or do I wait for a casual role to get back to me? I need to start earning ASAP 😭

Why are all men's shoes so narrow?

Where do you go to find men's shoes that are wider? We've tried adidas, new balance, Reebok, and some other brands I can't quite remember and they are all too narrow. Have men's feet become narrower in general? What's going on?

Looking for southern cross certified massage therapists

Hi, I’m looking for recommendations for southern cross certified massage therapists. Would prefer West or Central open to East. Ideally, if they are open evenings and weekends as I can’t really go during work hours.

Powerstation Age Restrictions Flexibility?

Hi there! My partner and I are eager to attend the Peach Pit concert being held at the Powerstation venue next year. He will be 18 at the time, but the event takes place exactly one week before my 18th birthday. Given how close the event is to my birthday, is there still a chance I could be granted admission? I love their music and would be gutted to miss out because I’m a few days too young. I’m not sure how flexible the venue is with age restrictions, so if anyone has any advice, please let me know!

I have tried contacting the venue directly via email, but it didn’t send through. Any help would be much appreciated!

Is this common for interviews?

Is it common now to have to go to multiple interviews for retail for just casual or Christmas casual roles? It feels like I’m going for an important job that will be in a corporate job or something?? Like why do I have to meet the manager, then another manager from a different location than the owner?

Why can't Auckland have cheap public transport?

In Christchurch public transport is $2 - to go anywhere, just $2. $1 for students and Connect.

In Wellington they a $2.02 base fare and $1 base fare off peak - more for extra zones.

Queensland has 50cent fares to go anywhere.

Auckland is $2.60 for ONE section and they stack. If you lose your concession hop card you pay full price for 3-5 days.

Why do we accept this - it's expensive and the customer experience is abysmal.

Would you buy a property in a flood plain?

If it had no flooding or insurance claims in the Auckland Anniversary weekend flooding or Cyclone Gabrielle? Curious to hear people's perspectives.
