If you had to pick one which would you.
Spend $3500+tax to get another shop xpel authorized for ppf (already have tint), and then run the operation. However, this is 1 hour aay from your hometown where your family is and where you’ve already built up a reputation/clientele.
B) drop the 3500 or not even less to just get marketing for your own company in the city you’re in. I am not able to get xpel because there’s already some in my area and I also don’t want the responsibility of a shop. The pros are I could instead go with stek and build my own company.
I feel like option B is the way. However, i don’t want to miss the opportunity of being a silent business partner for a new xpel shop in a city where no other competition exists.
Mind you. I ultimately want freedom / my own business but I’m currently facing many struggles as far as getting my business off the ground. One would be that i have to pay $100 a day at the shop i rent when i do go. $3500 to market my business / buy materials sounds like a no brainer but so does being able to pretty much purchase an entire xpel shop with 30 years of business as a car audio/wrap shop now tint/ppf. The owner and his son do tint and audio and i everything from signs, tint, wrap, ppf, detailing, etc.
Thanks
This christmas around January 1 I am going to be wrapping my car myself. My garage isn't heated but I will be heating it while I wrap the car. Here's my question, will there be issues with heating the garage during the day to wrap (probably around 50 degrees), and then it cooling down during the night while I don't leave my heaters running? I have wrapped in the past, but in a temp regulated shop. Any tips and comments are appreciated! I also decided to give calendared film a go this time, so we will see, hopefully It'll look good enough to last the year (I plan to wrap my car myself a new color every year)
How safe would I be going to one of those self service car washes where you use the power washing gun? Is it risky? I know hand washing is better but I’m just curious about how it would fare.
I’m wrapping my car for the first time and I’ve heard 3m and Avery Dennison are good beginner brands, I listed the two colors I like the most for my M340i but need suggestions/tips for color and wrapping.
Besides eBay. What’s the go to for emblems. Gloss and Matte/satin emblems.
Specifically a 2025 GLE 450e. Client wants to go gloss black!
Thanks y’all
Would it be easy to wrap just the chrome parts? Or even simply look good with glossy black?
I’ve got a gloss wrapped car to wash and spray seal. Hardly gets washed so I’m expecting some contaminants. Warm water with Meguiars gold class and quality mf to wash. Then what’s best to clean/prep for spray sealant?
Removing a starting to fail 5 year old 3M 2080 Dark Grey wrap from my C6 corvette I purchased earlier this year.
It looks like they used what I am assuming is 3m Primer 94 on nearly all the edges and definitely all the corners, from a quick search on here it looks like some installers use it and some don't. It was so heavily applied it some areas it was pulling the paint off the car, yes I was using a heat gun to remove the wrap.
The car doesn't have any crazy sharp angles or body lines like an exotic car, were the prior installers just making sure this wrap was going to last or is it just common practice to do this with 3M 2080 or cast vinyl wrap?
I will be applying a TPU based color film, I was wondering if should I leave this stuff on the edges and corners or remove it with alcohol? It is still very sticky to the touch but I would prefer to remove it unless i would just have to apply it again to get my new film to stay put on the edges.
From how difficult it has been to remove the wrap from the panel edges that DID NOT have the adhesion promotor on it, I would venture to guess wrap would have stayed put without using it on the corners but I'm not a professional obviously.
What detailing process would you recommend for a matte vinyl wrap?. It’s 2 years old.
I’m a senior in Highschool right not, and I have a project that I need to pass in order to graduate. For that, I’m in desperate need for a mentor. My project is about the exterior and design of cars. Like wrapping them, Putting on decals, etc. I don’t have to meet anyone In person, just there if I have questions and what not. If you’re willing to be my mentor, dm me 🫶🏼🫶🏼!!
I'm looking for something very similar to this color, I just don't know what brands to look at, any recommendations???
I recently had a wrap installed on my BMW X7 (2022) and called GEICO to ensure it was covered under my policy. They told me they don’t cover wraps, but here’s the thing: they did confirm that my ceramic coating (on top of the wrap) and window tint are covered—but not the wrap itself.
For context, I also have another wrapped car that was involved in an accident. GEICO told me that they would only cover the wrap if I had an endorsement added before the accident. Without it, they said coverage is limited to $1,000 unless the wrap was disclosed and added as an endorsement previously. An adjuster even suggested I call and add the endorsement for my other car moving forward.
Has anyone had a similar experience or found a way to get GEICO to insure a wrap? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Took off APA wrap after 3 years on a 12 year old Nissan. Took a bunch of clear coat with it.
Don’t want to respray, got rid of all the flaking, will sand a few bad spots.
Before I start putting the new wrap down, anything I can do to prep the paint so it doesn’t pull up clear coat while positioning?
