I've recently been working on improving myself by getting back into reading and spending time doing some personal studying on History and Philosophy. So far I've been interested in calming classical music that's mostly fantasy or dark academia themed, and wanted to see if anyone here could recommend me some vinyl records or Spotify Playlists I could look into to expand my vinyl collection and broaden my taste in music. I would really appreciate the help and also look forward to your suggestions.
Red background, a drawing of a woman holding a sunflower that covers her face and she's nude. the song is French
I am amazed when I hear somebody singing or humming totally off key. How could they possibly not KNOW that they are off key? Do they notice when other people sing off key? What does music sound like to them when it IS on key? There are a few scenes in movies when the actor is way off, I am cringing, and my wife doesn't seem to notice. (Don't tell her I said this, but she couldn't carry a tune in a basket.)
It seems to me that almost all of the popular rock bands that have been taken seriously by critics come from the eastern half of the US and the UK. Meanwhile, until Nirvana, the highest selling bands from the West Coast like of the Eagles, the Beach Boys, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been hugely successful but don’t get taken ‘seriously’ and routinely get panned by critics for vague reasons like being too ‘hedonistic’ and not embodying the ‘true spirit of rock and roll’, or even claiming no originality or versatility - which seems pretty unfair.
And I’m not especially a superfan of Canada’s most popular few acts, but Nickelback and (even in pop) Justin Bieber seemed to get an extra load of hate to the point hating them was jokingly a ‘law’ online… but they aren’t any worse than any number of other average popular bands or singers of their time? Instead of being seen as average their music got hate that I can’t think of any East Coast US/UK act getting. Otherwise, Rush is well known, Barenaked Ladies gets a lot of hate, and the Tragically Hip are virtually unheard of outside Canada...
Is there some critical bias? It’s not lost on me that Universal and Rolling Stone are based in California too.
(And I’m not oblivious to Anglophone bias globally, but the forces there are more obvious to me. And of these I’ve only ever lived in the UK and the eastern US, so I’m not resentful, just curious.)
For my part I think it's "One Love" because :
-It contains singles of great quality with songs that all worked (which is rare in a album).
I’m not feeling so good today (mentally) and I’d really appreciate it if you could recommend me some songs like this.
I’m after upbeat rock / punk / metal / dance vibes that make you feel kind of powerful.
Thanks in advance.
I need a song with no lyrics but not particularly overly orchestra. I need the beginning to be confused but upbeat but then in the song, there is a sudden drop in the tone and it is somber. This part needs to be very sudden and noticeable. Think of a modern version of Romeo and Juliet when she finds Romeo dead. I need a song to encapsulate the emotion of searching for him and seeing he is no longer around.

I've recently started watching the Kaos on Netflix, and the song that Killian Scott sings about Eurydice is just so fucking good imo. I just wanted to know the genre or type of the music cuz I really like these pop-rock emotional songs.
Also no spoilers about the show please
Cheers.
I thoroughly enjoy African music and about a year ago me and my friends came across the Movers. A 70s African band that seems to have little information about them circulating online. At the bottom of this post I’ll link their Spotify. (They actually have two!) If anyone knows any information about them or bands that may be similar please share. Also if you may know some of the band members name that could help to. Im in journalism and I’d be very keen on arranging some interviews. Please share if you know anything regarding the topic.

What Music Genre is Reigns of Castamere called from the Game of the Thrones?
A girl hit song about she like to party and all but she's lonely and want her ex back. I knew that song and heard in a bar recently but now I can't remember that song. I think it's a pop song like supalonely and released around 2021.
So I came across "Shape of Minlee" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABa6P3c\_axk) and I LOVED it!
I like most of her mixes. I also enjoyed Decade of Pop by DJ EARWORM, so you can probably guess what kind of mixes I am talking about.
Can anyone make any mix recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
It only just occurred to me that Tubthumping by Chumbawumba has for a long time been associated with the European football leagues, soccer for the uninitiated, but there seems to be no answer as far as i can find as to when it became associated with it.
Hi! I've spent weeks searching for a song and I desperately need your help. The song is a Disco track (around 110 BPM) that I'm certain is about love or has a sensual vibe. The chorus features female vocals, distinctive falsetto, and a catchy "tutururuba, tutururuba" tarareo-style vocalization. Despite my best efforts, I just can't seem to find it. I'm convinced it's a well-known hit
I'm trying to find the name of the song in Saturday Night Fever. It is the first song, Tony and Annett practice to at Phillip's Dance Studio.
Thanks!
Bought this flute looking thing for cheap at a yard sale. I can't seem to make any sound come out of it, and I don't even know it's name (kinda looks like a ney but I'm really not sure). If you're familiar with it, could you give me a few tips on how to play it or something?
How to detune my Roland JV80 to 414?
i wanna know what genre that starts exactly at 2:06, i really wanna listen to more songs similar to that.
i know it has that genre botanica elements into it. but without allat spectral sounds, what genre would it be called?
Hi! My name is Aimee, and recording my own music has long been a dream of mine! I've been playing small venues and shows this year, but my goal now is to release my own work. I have an EP written, but with college tuition and tight money, I cannot afford the studio fees to record and release it. This has been my dream for as long as I can remember, and I'm going to do everything in my power to make it happen. I appreciate all the love and support from the community. If you happen to have some extra money and want to take a chance on a small artist, it would mean the world to me. For those of you wondering... My music tends to lean in the pop direction, though I have some songs influenced by rock and even jazz. I am working on setting up YouTube and other social media accounts dedicated to this career path. Writing music is how I express the complexities within my own mind and understand life. Performing is the only true passion I have ever felt, and I'm going to chase that feeling until I die. As Carole King said, "When I hear a good song, I feel like someone understands me. Even if I'm all alone, it's like I've got a friend in the room. I want to do that for people." Also, if you can’t help out financially, I understand, money is tight for everyone lately, but I would also love advice!! Here’s the link to a gofundme just in case :)
I'm absolutely in love with the playlist in DJ Hero 1 and 2. Both games have their unique style and I'm super nostalgic for it. Does anyone have any playlists/community playlists that are "versus" tracks similar to the ones DJ Hero has? Thanks in advanced!
Cross posting this on a few subreddits for exposure, so please forgive me if this is not the correct forum or format to post this question.
I've been trying to find what the specific musical term is for choir singers, singing in ascending notes. With a big enough group, it sounds very haunting and almost "warbly". You'll often hear this in horror movies or tv shows. I've asked my partner who's had some years in choir and she came up with "glissando."
The closest example that I can find on the internet is from this video here:
https://youtu.be/7KSDCvKRa2A?si=ZHzZ6J-awUGCKJiN&t=102
I can hear a slow glissando with the strings, but the singers are almost each in their own scale and ascending each note.
Excuse any gaps in knowledge that I may have with musical terms and the post, its just something I've heard in many horror movies and I'm curious to know if there is an actual word for it.
Thanks!
Ok so this might be a stupid question but I have a theory that Kendrick Lamar may have used a technique like ABBA’s famous “hit rake” to make “not like us” - particularly that one part, you know the part I mean. That really catchy sort of creepy sounding four repeated notes.
Anyway I just thought that he made it as catchy as scientifically possible just to give drake the biggest L possible and pretty obviously that’s true, but, music knowers, can you tell me, are those four notes actually hit rake notes? It just reminds me of abba, but maybe that’s just because it’s in a minor key…
Is the song in A minor? I’m being so serious.
I’m really curious about the musical analysis of this song, but everything I find is breaking down the lyrics only
sorry, I know this is an oddly specific question but I can't find it anywhere for the life of me :(
I found that I REALLY like these genre of music Zits not a spesific genre but here are the songs that I found super close to each other: -sweetest pie Megan thee stallion and dua lipa
I've been listening to Zheani and a few other artists rn that make songs about the last hour, and to me they're so interesting. i wanted to listen to more artists who have made songs about it since religion is one of my special interests. im looking for songs specifically about revelations if you have any recommendations id appreciate it :)
I'm just confused how this works because I've never heard of anyone else have the same issue as me and I don't even know if I'm describing it right because I just don't know music stuff very well.
For example, if someone were to play the G chord on a guitar and then the G key on a piano, and asked me if they were the same tone or different I would very likely say different Another example, if someone plays the G key on a piano and then I try to replicate that tone with my vocal cords I might get close but it's very unlikely I would get the same tone
Does anyone know what's up?

Someone just made a sick af version of KSI's song while he was arguing with speed with a style of Friday Night Funkin. Can anyone help me define the genre of this particular music? Thank you!
I just bought an ozark legend bob edson custom 15/14 for what i thought was a good deal. The issue I'm having is it's 3 strings on the treble bridge and 2 on the base bridge for 73 strings total except they aren't strings their all piano wire and all need replaced badly. I've taken it to a couple instrument repair shops and they've all told me I need a piano tech to do it. So I guess my question is does anyone know about what thats gonna run me? Is it worth me even trying to get it restrung I paid 400 for it (no case stand or mallets) and the description said it had wonderful sound that would fill the room. Which it obviously doesn't.. so should I try get it fixed up and if so any ideas on much that might run me or should I try and get a refund because it would be easier and less money to just get one that doesnt have the issues?
I am a beginner in music .I don't know mixing and mastering. Especially when there is any "S" sound in your lyrics when you sing that "S" it sounds very awkward so how can I cut it off.
And where can I learn music production(no cost) from basic as a fresher
