Waiting for the Lightning

As I am watching the votes tally up, I cannot help but remember how Arcade Fire said "The Lightning" was recorded on the night of the election in 2020 as they all waited to hear the results. Then, as I was thinking of that, I recalled some social media posts leading up to the election from El Paso, their performance of "Generation A," and that whole era leading up to an announcement about WE. I feel like there has obviously been way less information released as they record the current album they are working on. We have no idea where it is being recorded, and they have been silent for this election cycle. I wonder where they are all watching the results roll in tonight?

Second coming

I was reading Lawrence Ferlinghettiā€™s poem ā€œI am waitingā€ which Win mentioned couple of times explaining where the phrase ā€œage of anxietyā€ comes from and I noticed this poem also mentions ā€œsecond comingā€ which seems to be the title of the new song they performed in London this summer. I guess that probably there are some connections between this new material and WE or probably they were just inspired in different ways by this poem. Btw this is my thought, what do yā€™all think?

Une Annee Sans Lumiere recommendations

Hello, Iā€™m not too big a fan of Une Annee Sans Lumiere but the last 56 seconds are absolutely incredible. Do any of you know songs that sounds similar to those last 56 seconds, it has a really nice raw and energetic indie rock sound and Iā€™d like to know some other songs that sound like it. Thanks!

In search of a specific Arcade fire T-shirt!

Hello everyone. I realize this is a long shot, but in case you all can help, I am giving this a shot. Back in 2017 my husband and I were traveling Europe, and during our time there, we got to see my favorite band Arcade Fire perform in Barcelona! It was one of the best experiences and memories of my life. During this trip is also when we found out we were going to be parents, which was also amazing. I bought a shirt from that concert and I treasured it because of the memory it held. Somehow while moving back home, it got lost and I havenā€™t been able to find it for years now! I have periodically checked eBay or other sites I think might carry it, but no luck. I only keep finding the shirt with the North American tour dates on the back, but Iā€™m specifically looking for the one with the European tour dates (since it lists Barcelona, where we saw the show.)

The shirt looks like the one in this picture, but with the European dates on the back.

Does anyone know how to find old concert merchandise or know how I can find this shirt? A size medium would be great, but any size at this point is better than nothing. I appreciate any help you all can offer. Thank you!

arcade fire on tiktok

The times I've been jumpscared by an arcade fire song playing in the background of a viral TikTok video is insane. Specifically dimensions, there's a shit ton of depressing or motivation audios with dimensions in the background and everytime they pop up in my FYP I get , like I said kind of jumpscared like hey I know that tune!!!!! I know that band!!!!!! Tho I'm pretty sure the people using the audios have no idea lol <\3

Here's the most popular one I think I've seen which is the one that made me go here and post this, it's nice

There was a 20 minute animated movie called "Me" ready to roll-out WE and it was cancelled due to the Win allegations

Not sure if this is new news or not....

https://slate.com/culture/2024/10/me-movie-don-hertzfeldt-arcade-fire-taylor-swift.html

Don Hertzfeldt on his new musical short

Despite his substantial fan base, Hertzfeldt had never taken on a commission more elaborate than aĀ SimpsonsĀ couch gagĀ until a rock band approached him about making a film to accompany songs from their forthcoming album. (For legal reasons, heā€™s not allowed to name them, butĀ Arcade FireĀ seems like an awfully good guess.) Heā€™d just about finished the 20-minute visual when a scandal tanked the album-release plans, and although Hertzfeldt got his film back, he no longer had the songs heā€™d built the entire thing around: a musical with no music. But rather than be daunted, Hertzfeldt went back to what heā€™s always done: making it himself. The bandā€™s songs were replaced by tracks ranging from avant-garde opera to Jelly Roll Morton, and the story of a self-involved inventor whose creation brings the world to the brink of a lonely apocalypse seems as purely his as anything Hertzfeldt has ever made, and like something no one else could. WithĀ MeĀ at lastĀ available on demand, Hertzfeldt talked to Slate from his home in Austin, Texas, about how heā€™s survived and flourished as an independent artist, why the feature film heā€™s been trying to make for a decade might actually be happening soon, and the reason we should all be Taylor Swift fans. Our conversation has been condensed and edited for clarity.

Its so weird to hear Rebellion (Lies) at my workplace

I donā€™t remember hearing that on the radio way back when. But somehow that song just retroactively became an oldie

Do we think Arcade Fire will tour next year??

I want to book myself a vacation for next year but want to wait and have it be to a destination to see AF. Do we think they might tour or do a couple of one off shows next year?? Iā€™m really hoping they do, preferably in the US!

Do you remember the first time you heard AF?

For me I heard Wake Up on a BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) advert in 2004 and didn't know how to find out what it was called. I remember searching the internet and nothing!

Then a few months later a friend of mine had the album put it on and finally I knew the name of the band and the song AND the album. I've loved them ever since. I honestly think I've loved the band since I first heard them. Would love to hear your stories...

Random AF makes my day

I was just waiting for a ride after an appointment, standing outside on a beautiful San Francisco day, when a car drove by, windows down, blasting ā€œCity with No Children.ā€

I love it when this happens. ā¤ļøšŸ˜€

What AF song do you play on repeat?

Cause you just canā€™t get enough of itā€™s brilliance!

Iā€™ll start- I always have Age of Anxiety I and Lookout kid on repeat, but Iā€™ve also started listening to Sprawl II and No Cars Go on repeat. Never did that before so I find that interesting! šŸ˜‚šŸŽ‰

Why it is so different vibes between the subs about music?

Itā€™s not about AF but I this sub have always good vibes. For example I posted a similar post about influence in Red Hot Chili Peppers sub, like I did here, but no one gave a good imo. Most boring stuff like ā€œthey have lot of blablaā€.. yes ofc? I posted it because I want reflections.

I think my spelling maybe not is the best but however, Iā€™m glad that sub can have good vibe.

Arcade Fire is influenced by them according too allmusic.com but how to hear it?

I think Itā€™s about how to write music and lyrics but I canā€™t still hear it. Bowie and Springsteen is best examples and I think theyā€™ve listened a lot to John Lennon. Win Butlers song style is maybe influenced by Robert Smith in The Cure.
