Amazon prime

Hello, i have a problem whit Amazon prime. I did my 30days free testing period, not sure if I canceled it or not but now when I go on my account I have 1 year Amazon paid by a gift card for some reason. I have a debit card so I can’t go into minus so I don’t know if Amazon is going to make me pay for it later or something like that. Could someone help me out. I also had the problem on another account where the same thing happened, all tough on that acc Amazon canceled the membership after like 2 months, I haven’t got any news from there that I have any unpaid payments since when I go on Amazon prime payments it says paid.

How to stop my kid’s Echo?

Hello there and thanks for your help. There’s an echo dot in my kid’s room and one in my master bedroom. My kid loves to play bedtime stories on her echo dot at night but falls asleep with it playing. How can I get the echo in my room to turn off or pause the stories on her echo? I’m tired of walking to her room every night to turn it off. I feel that I should be able to do it from my echo

Right now when I give my echo commands, it won’t do it. Here are some examples of my Alexa replies…

ME: “Hey Alexa, pause story in Mia’s room.” MY ECHO: “Hmmm, I don’t know that.”

ME: “Hey Alexa, pause story on Mia’s Echo” MY ECHO: “Sorry I’m not sure”

ME: “Hey Alexa, stop Mia’s Echo” MY ECHO: No reply. Blue light spins one time quickly then goes off

Unnecessary Refusal to Allow Customization or Compatability...smh Bezos

Man after several years of this issue driving me nuts several times a week I finally decide to hit Redit for some productive insight on how to edit her painstakingly annoying declarations of no connectivity and it seems the only answer is to suck it up or switch to Google Assistant. That blows.

I live in a luxury apt complex where I have to pay montly for community wide wifi. I have no router or modem and thus absolutely no control over my wifi and have had consistent issues with smart wifi devices because the signal is dual band and I have no access to any settings allowing me to specify 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz bands.

I have 3 or 4 Echo speakers in each room of my apt and often when I tell this trick to do her job I get the "Please check the device's internet connection" line thrown at me from one of the speakers, even though another speaker has already performed the requested action (turn off TV, lights, etc). It is insanely frustrating when Iknow damn well the high speed wireless is working fine and the light I just asked to tun off turns off, but then this window licker speaker off in left feild screams at me to check my wifi for absolutely no reason.

That is an aspect of the technology that needs to be improved ASAP...I should be able to put 30 Echo speakers in one room and have them all be on the same page without an issue.

BUT, THE SIMPLEST OPTION WOULD BE TO JUST ALLOW THE SAVVY Y END USER EDIT OR ELIMINATE RESPONSES! I find it absolutely nuts that they wouldn't allow for some kind of cusomzition on this and other issues surrounding the Alexa Multi-Room setups. Shame.

Echo Frames keep interrupting YouTube videos to tell me Firefox wants to play audio.

When I'm at work, I listen to different YouTube videos to pass the time. I listen on Firefox because with uBlock Origin I can skip the ads. The problem is that randomly, I'll get the "ding" like my phone had a notification which pauses the audio for like 5 seconds after. Sometimes multiple in a row and it happens multiple times over a single video. I have a playlist of like 20+ videos that I try to listen to at work, but when every 30 seconds the audio pauses for 5-20 seconds, it's frustrating. Add to that the video will sometimes stop loading, I doubt this is related to Alexa but it's still annoying, I end up having to pull my phone out more than I do for something like Pandora or Audible.

Any way to stop the frames from stopping Firefox from playing audio so it can tell me that Firefox is playing audio? And if anyone knows how to keep Firefox for Android from quitting loading a YouTube video in the middle so I have to refresh and seek to where I was because the video restarts would be appreciated too, but I know that's not something for this sub.

Best sounding Echo devices?

In your experienced opinion, which Echo devices provide the best sound, operating in a multi-room environment. Or even non-Echo devices but the must operate within an Echo environment. I'm not looking to use Echo devices to feed elaborate amps and speakers. If and when I need that quality sound I won't be looking at an Echo architecture to drive it.

Help! Can’t set up Alexa after an internet reset

So we moved house and took our internet with us a few weeks back and our first gen Echo was working fine at the time (we had a custom internet name that didn’t change with the move) until our rabbit took a bite of the fibre broadband cable and killed the internet for a good couple of days pending an engineer coming over to fix it.

After the internet came back on, the internet name had reset back to its original basic Vodaphone-with-random-letters-and-numbers, password and all, and I think this is where everything went pear shaped?

I cannot for the life of me get this Echo reconnected - I can get it into set up mode but my (updated) Alexa app just can’t find it, even after a factory reset, and unplugging / replugging makes no difference. I literally cannot get past the step where the orange lights are flashing for setup mode. I have no idea what about the internet resetting would cause it to be unable to be found by the app, the other echo dot seems to be working fine.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Edit: Aaaand now it’s flashing purple, I didn’t even know that was a thing 🤦‍♀️

What's the best way to control both a Fire TV Stick and Fire TV by voice?

I got an Echo Pop, but it can only be paired to either the stick or the TV, not both. I only use the stick for streaming, but I'd like to be able to control the volume and inputs on the TV.

It seems like an IR blaster would work, but it's a lot slower than controlling the TV directly, and can't set a specific volume. Do I need to get another Echo and dedicate it to the other device?

Grouping routines

Hi all, I tried to searched online and explore myself but no luck so far. I have a device that I want to turn the plug at, for example, 1am and then off at 2am and then back on again at 3am and back off again at 4am etc. Is there a way to either regroup all the routines in one group for when I dont need to have it on or either create only one routine with one action (so 1 for turn on and another for turn off) but with multiple times? Or any other simpler way that anyone uses? Hope i was clear, please tell me if I wasn't. Thank you in advance for your help.

Playing music remotely

Can I play music (Spotify) remotely on an Echo Studio? I know you can do this on a Sonos, by playing on Spotify through the Sonos app. Can I do the same on an Echo Studio? It’s for my dog while I’m away, to drown out other noises.

I have a Dell credit which is making me consider this speaker, but I’m not familiar with it and having trouble searching this question.

Thanks!

Invalid Code - Echo Show 8

I have several Echo in my house/network. Now want to add a Show 8.

Going through the setup, connect to wifi. Then log into my account.

As usual, receive txt message on phone with passcode.

Enter pass code, get: Invalid Code - The verification code you entered is invalid. Please check the number, and then try again.

Done a dozen times. Just does NOT take whatever code they are sending.

Doorbell Chime

What do you guys use for a Blink camera doorbell chime? I am looking for a device like the flex. Small speaker that plugs into an outlet that is Alexa enabled. The flex seemed like it would have been perfect. Anyone find anything else?

Linked account with child

A few months ago I got myself an Alexa echo show. I primary use it for playing white noise at bedtime and audible books.

My son who’s 12 kept asking for one too once he figured out you can play games like sound quiz and ask Alexa questions. So I got him one when it was on sale.

I registered his with my email and Amazon account so I can control his. I have no interest in the drop in feature, but what I can not stand is this kid can control my radio, lights and view our ring cameras all the time. Tonight he is at my dads and I am laying in bed super tired and feeling like I have the flu and I just want peace and quiet.

All of a sudden, miles away, he starts blasting rap songs and turned the volume all the way up and turned the lights on disco ball setting or something.

Short of getting him his own email and registering his device under that, is there a way to have 2 devices linked to the same email but not being able to control my stuff?! I’m about to throw his out the window he pulls this all the time. I work from home and I will be on a zoom meeting and he randomly will start playing stuff through Alexa 😡🤬

Any way to get the Alexa to play a specific Playlist for alarms: Currently plays whatever I last had playing on Spotify instead of the playlist I told it to play

I told Alexa to play my Release Radar playlist from Spotify, which is my current music provider for all categories and is connected via the Alexa Spotify skill connection. But, when the alarm goes off it plays whatever I last had playing on Spotify, not the playlist I selected there. It also can't find the other playlist I made, called it Morning Alarms, when I asked it to play it and it had the same issue with not playing it when I managed to get Alexa to list it under a alarm I created.

Is there any way to get Alexa to actually play the playlist I selected, because routines made with shuffle "playlist name" playlist on Spotify also didn't work, as a custom written skill, instead just playing whatever I last had playing on Spotify as well instead of shuffling the playlist.

I just got a Amazon Echo Pop to use as an alarm clock, it was only $15 on sale, but the alarm function I want to use it for doesn't work. Should I just return it, is google assistant any better, or is there any way to actually get this feature to work? Thank you so much for your help.

Amazon Echo family device software updates -- is there an update history available?

I discovered a Customer Service link that shows the latest firmware versions of Amazon devices: LINK

However, rather sadly, the version numbers provided have no matching date. So all we know by accessing the link is that it's the latest firmware as of the current date. This post is in reference to my 4th gen Echo Dot Clock.

Presently, from Amazon's site: Echo Dot (4th Generation with Clock) Latest Software Version: 9698494596

However, when I check my Echo Dot Clock 4th gen device in the app? The version shows as 10101202820.

Another person who had posted just last week about this discrepancy said their 4th Gen, same model, is 10101200772. So just one week later, there's a definite difference. My version is later.

Is there somewhere that shows a history of previous software versions and the dates of their releases?

Semi-complicated lighting setup

I am trying to control multiple sets of lights, for two different rooms. I currently have to prefix voice commands with the Room Name. For instance, "Bob's Study on". I would like to be able to use less verbose commands such as "Study on", and have the Echo differentiate the groups based on which echo is used. Below I have listed the hardware and labeled it according to it's physical location.

Hardware:

Room 1 -> 3 x Night Light's, 2 x Study Light's

Room 2 -> 3 x Night Light's, 2 x Study Light's

Configuration:

Room 1 Group contains "Room 1 Night Light" and "Room 1 Study Light" groups.

Room 2 Group contains "Room 2 Night Light" and "Room 2 Study Light" groups.

Each "meta" group (Room 1 Group, Room 2 Group), are assigned/managed by their respective Echo (located in the room)

Side Note: I have been able to cobble a half ass solution, by naming one set of sub-groups "Night Light" and "Study", which allows me to use "Night Light on/off" voice commands, and settled with using more verbose voice commands for the other room's lights.

Edit: Currently using voice commands such as "Lights on", does work, and the respective echos resolve this command to the specific lights (in groups) they're "managing". But again, the issue is controlling individual groups within a specific region (bedroom), and not all the lights in the region.

My Italian Alexa is saying smart device notifications in English, for no reason

Hi all! I hope I'm not violating any rules by asking my question here. It's a very strange behavior and I'd like to understand why it happens.

I have some Echos and Echo Dots of various generations in my house, along with some smart devices. Two of these devices are a Roomba 890 and a Samsung washing machine. Both devices have the ability to send notifications via Alexa, namely because the trash bin is full (Roomba) or the washing cycle is over (washing machine). These notifications are very useful!

So it all worked fine for a while until one day, about 9 months ago, the language of these notifications changed to English for no reason at all. And not even real English, it's broken!!! Let me explain using the Roomba as an example: in Italian it used to say "Il contenitore del tuo Roomba 890 è pieno", in English it should say "Your roomba 890's bin is full", but it actually says "Your roomba 890 apostrofo esse bin is full". Now, "apostrofo esse" is a very wrong Italian way of reading the English " 's ". Also, it pronounces "890" in Italian and her voice is the Italian one and not the English one. So it looks like it's reading in Italian an English text.

I spent hours looking for the solution and then gave up, but now it's really starting to get on my nerves. I can't even find other users who have the problem.

Have you guys ever seen anything like this?

More details: all the Echos and Echo Dots are set to Italian, the apps (including Alexa) are set to Italian, the phone is set to Italian, literally nothing is set to English.

It must be an Alexa problem and not a smart device problem because the language changed at the same time for both the washing machine and the Roomba.

Help!!! 🙏

Spotify device issues

Recently got a new echo (the one with the clock interface) and for some reason it shows up on my Spotify like this (the Echo 3 one). But it's awake and connected to wifi so not sure why Spotify/Alexa is being so fucking annoying (to the extent that it needs to show the device status 3 fucking times - see first image). It IS connected, because when I say 'Alexa, play this playlist from Spotify), it does, and then it shows that it's playing from that device (see second screenshots).

Anyone have any solutions for this? From what I understand, it's a fairly common issue.

Echo Dots can be bluetooth speakers sending something from your phone. Can a multi-room group do that?

I have several echo dots around the house. They are in a multi-room group and I can have Alexa play music to the group.

If I want to send audio FROM my phone to an echo dot, I have that set up also.

Is there a way to send the audio from my phone and have it play on all the dots? Or multi-room groups only work with audio coming from the internet to the dots directly?

The devices are in different rooms, so they don't need to be in sych, if that matters. Right? When in a multi-room group, you could put all the speakers in the same room and they are all playing in synch / no delay across the devices? How do that do that if the dots are separated / can't hear each other to know if they are ahead / behind the others?!

THANKS!
