Have optimum smart wifi with the TV cable box that also acts as a modem and router. Got them to separate the 2.4 and 5 ghz channels into a different network names, and connected devices to the 2.4 ghz but it is still not working. What are my next steps as far as network settings go? I don't have any extenders or a mesh system
My kid's Belkin soundform mini bt headset pairs fine with echo 3rd gen on latest firmware but it will never reconnect. Have to go through the new pairing process each time. Can't find any firmware for the headset to update. Any suggestions? Thanks.
This question popped into my head because I am trying to figure out how to get the 4 WiFi X-sense smoke/CO detectors I installed a month ago to show up on Alexa. Despite adding the skill and linking the account, nothing is populating. They all work perfectly under the Xsense app, but discovery doesn’t find them and if I try to manually add them in the Alexa app, it wants me to reset the device but then (I’m pretty sure anyways) that that would delete it from the Xsense app. I’ve also seen where you can add them through the Tuya / smart life programs and that brings up another tangential question. When adding lights, tstats, etc, is it better to just pick an app from the Tuya suite and use that exclusively or what?
Can Alexa use zigbee motion sensors connected via a zigbee hub to control WiFi light switches?
I’ve already got WiFi light switches installed and want to know if I can connect zigbee motion sensors to turn them on?
Currently have an echo show 5 and show 8 so trying not to buy another echo. So hoping a zigbee hub will solve what I want to do
As the title says,
I had the same issue with lights before but I fixed it by changing the device type to light (instead of the default switch) in the alexa app and removing the word light from the device names.
I'm wondering if there is a similar thing that I can do for AC units.
(Also issuing the command in english has a higher success rate than other languages I tested which is also weird)
Edit: All devices are grouped with the echo in that same room
So my gf just bought an Alexa and she put me as a profile to get a “better experience” and now I’m part of the family. But what can I do? I can’t switch accounts or profiles or whatever they call it on the app nor can I do it by asking Alexa to switch. All it can do is recognize who’s speaking to it but it’ll still tell me “I’m not quite sure how to help you with that” if I ask “how many profiles are there” or “can I edit my profile.” I’m just confused as of what the point to putting a profile on here is if I can’t do anything with said profile.
Not connecting to wifi. I’ve read about trying to connect using Tap, no luck. I see Amazon c7 in the network but when I click I’m not able to join. Has Amazon discontinued the use of this device?
It has been about 3 days that my Alexa does not turn on correctly, if I connect it to the current it makes the usual light blue and after a few minutes it stops.I have tried in every way to restore but nothing works
My Epson WF-7720 printer has worked with Alexa Smart Reorders for years now but apparently all of a sudden it's stopped. I've checked literally everything I can think of and can print test pages from Echo to the print without issue.
Now the inventory levels for the ink are sitting at "No Inventory Level Yet" and I can't find a way to manually force it to check or documentation that says how often it actually checks.
Just like the title says, this echo show will say "okay" when I ask it to turn my kitchen light on or off. It doesn't do it with any other light or device, and no other echos do it, they just play the normal tone. Brief mode is on, and I've tried resetting it, including 2 factory resets, firmware updates and just unplugging it for 20 seconds. After the last factory reset, it stopped saying "okay", but started again after a couple of days. I've also tried removing and re-adding my kitchen light but that didn't work either. That light is also the same brand and model as all the other smart bulbs in my house, but it's the only one this happens with. Any ideas?
For the years I've owned Echo Show devices, I've always opened Silk with the voice command. This morning, suddenly, Alexa responded with, "I'm not quite sure how to help you with that."
I searched here to see if this had happened to anyone else, but none of the resolutions which worked for them have worked for me. I went into Settings, Device settings, etc. into the Browser part and touched Silk, but nothing happens. I've cleared the cache and cookies. Unplugged/replugged it in. I don't have FireTV and can't find a way to do it from the app.
I have this Show specifically to watch the morning new as I get ready for work. I used to watch it pain-free using YouTube TV, but over the summer Amazon discontinued working with YouTube TV, which was a bummer. I've been limping along watching the live stream on the web browser, which isn't as stable. I can't imagine Silk is going away, but I cannot get it to open on my device.
Anybody here got any additional suggestions? I'll contact Amazon after work to try to fix it but I've been thinking about binning all of my Amazon home devices for awhile now and switching to Google and that's looking more and more likely. Help?
I use it near me to sleep with noise. Even at the lowest volume it's too loud for white noise or brown noise. Any tips please
This happen the other day while alexa was working just fine the next day, if anyone had any solutions please let me know i really need this thing to work cause spending 50€ out of nowhere is shit lmao.
Hi, so I'm just getting into Amazon speakers; I started with a Studio, planning to pair it with a second one of the same, but for my small area, even one Studio was overkill, so I've replaced it with 2 Echo gen 4s (same cost for the two as for one Studio!!)
I was hoping for decent stereo sound with the 2 Echos. Streaming music sounds great, but when I try and play any of my several DAPs or MP3 players, it seems they'll all only play through one speaker.
I've done some research and it seems as though, even with the speakers in a paired group, a bluetooth device will only play through one speaker???
Please, someone tell me I'm missing something? I'd been looking forward to hearing all of my own ripped & stored music in stereo again.
One thought I had .. if I upload all of my files into the Amazon cloud, will they play as though from a streaming service?
My Alexa is set up with the Apple Music skill and plays fine from my Apple + subscription. It won’t play live music. When I say “Alexa, play songs by the Tedeschi Trucks Band” it shuffles hours of tracks from TTB’s studio albums but never once dips into the tracks from the Live albums. Same for Dave Matthew’s Band, Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, Goose, War on Drugs etc. What gives?! I’ve tried to ask her to play “live” tracks but she doesn’t understand. Anyone know a fix? A bug in how the library is exposed? I think the same happens from Amazon Music too.
Hi all.
I have lots of Echo devices, one in every room, including a 'big' Echo which features Zigbee.
I have lots of Philips Hue bulbs, because in my experience they are the most reliable.
All was fine up until a year or two ago when Philips Hue bulbs went from being just Zigbee to being Zigbee and Bluetooth.
Whenever I add a new bulb now, instead of them pairing with the main Echo via Zigbee, they'll pair with whatever Echo Spot/Dot/etc they fancy. This wouldn't normally be a problem but when I'm away I will often take 2-3 Echo Dots with me and if a Hue bulb has paired with 'dining room' and that's now 150 miles away, the lights that depend on that Echo device won't turn on or off. I have a number of routines set up when I'm away to turn various lights on an off in the evenings and the mornings so it's important that they work.
This is why I want all Hue bulbs to pair with the main Echo via Zigbee, and not via ANYTHING else via bluetooth.
Today I went to the Alexa app on my iPhone and instead of just adding a new light (or telling Alexa to 'discover my devices') I went to +, then selected Device then instead of Light, I went all the way to the bottom I went to Other which brought me to a screen that I thought would be good "Which logo is on your device?" and lo and behold ZIGBEE is there.
I thought this would be good but at the end when the light was added, it had connected to a nearby Echo Dot instead, via bluetooth and not to the main Echo via Zigbee.
I removed it and started again and it connected to another Echo Dot via bluetooth and not the main Echo.
The only way to get it to connect to the main 'big Echo' was to go around the house and unplug every other Echo device apart from the main big Echo then it connected to that successfully and I finished the setup. Whether it's connected via Zigbee or Bluetooth is another matter...
Anyway, does anyone know of a way that I can tell the Echo system (Echosystem?) that when I'm adding a Zigbee device, that I only want it to connect via Zigbee? Telling it manually in the app that I'm connecting an 'other' Zigbee device doesn't actually seem to search for just zigbee devices.
Not sure if I worded that correctly. But i got the “play music everywhere” to finally work correctly but now I’m wondering if there’s a way to let my music play on all my devices (1 eco dot, 1 4th gen echo and fire tv) but instead of asking Alexa for the specific song can I select it from my iphone / mac book air?
When I ask it to play spotify or play something on spotify , it says it will but nothing happens.
it worked fine for a couple months when i started using spotify on my alexa but today it just refuses to.
When I connect my alexa to spotify on the spotify webplayer(i have connected alexa to spotify on the spotify webplayer before and it had worked) , it shows that the device is playing , but deafening silence assumes.
i have tried :-
I have both a first and second gen Echo 5 device. Both seem to be suffering the same issue(s).
First, both frequently show they are "not available" in the Alexa app listing of devices. Now I can get around that (although it is annoying to do so), by going into the settings, and run the Internet check (which always passes), and then it will be "online".
But then even once I get the app to show that it is online, the camera isn't available. I have the settings on the device set to allow the remote camera, but the camera button remains greyed out in the app. The only troubleshooting suggestions I see is to make sure that is enabled, and/or make sure I have the latest update of the Alexa app, and of course I have.
My echo 8 and echo 15 work just fine. It is only the 5s that seem to have this issue. So, what else (other than "the 5s are junk") would cause this to happen?
For some time now, I have serious issues with the 4th Gen Dots with clock in combination with Spotify. I also have two Gen 3 Dots and a Echo Flex which work just fine. Only the 4th Gen are almost never available in Spotify as device and appear offline. The Alexa App shows them as online and selecting the group which includes all echos then also plays on the 4th Gen Dots.
Any solution for this? Seriously tempted to switch to IKEA Sonos now...
A while back around 2022. My echo asked me if I would like it to turn the lights on at sunset. I said yes it has been doing this now for two years and I have not figured out how to turn it off. Does anyone know how? I’ve already checked routines, and all of that.
I've been wondering why my Echo Dot gen2 units always show "Poor" WiFi signal quality even when they are right next to the router. My gen3 and Flex units don't have this problem, so I figured it might be a firmware bug. Indeed it is! Delving deeper into the device settings in Alexa under WiFi Network - Advanced Network Information, I see that the signal strength is being detected and reported correctly, but the "Noise" value is always reported as "Poor (0dbm)" on the gen2, unlike the other models that report a variable value for Noise. This biases the overall WiFi signal quality rating to always be shown as "Poor" for the gen2 units. I suspect this bug is also causing the recent connection dropping problems when there are multiple APs available on the home network, and all are being detected as "Poor".
Not trying to set up 2 echo studios as stereo speakers for the TV here.
What I am trying to accomplish is having spotify play out of the 2 echo's and TV home theater system. 1 echo in kitchen, 1 in living room, 1 fire stick plugged into TV (firestick sends sound to TV, TV sends sound to speakers).
hi all,
i hope you're well. i've been struggling with this for a few weeks now. I have google calendar setup with notification for 1hr, 30min, 15 min, 5 min and 1 minute before event which is great!
it used too announce it on my alexa for each interval as well. however recently this has now stopped and it'll only announce the first notification of 1hr before.
is there anyway to fix this so alexa announces every single notification?
So I have some govee lights above my pc And I got a notification on my phone saying a new device has been found on my network the device's name was "no way" Being concerned about it I immediately turned it on and off to figure out what device it was connected to and if I could even see it at all and it turns out it traced back to my govee lights that I've had for about a year now and have been under a different name in Amazon Alexa simply called "big light" Should I be concerned about this in any way shape or form?
if so how would I resolve this
Has anyone noticed if you ask Alexa how many hours until something she will always add an hour? For example--it is 6:15am EST as of writing. If I say "Alexa, how many hours until 2:15pm?" She will say 9 hours.
That is not correct. I have checked to make sure the location matches and time zone, and she knows the current time to the second.
Also, she understand, that a 9-5 workday is 8 hours.
I'm so confused. Someone tell me I'm an idiot, because this seems too obvious to be a bug. What am I doing wrong?
So I saw texting bubbles ( not sure what they are called) on the screen. They were moving( like when someone is texting you back). Never seen it before, so I tapped on them and a screen with Recently Active came up. And under it, it said Brian’s Home. He is one of my contacts, but not worded that way by me. On my contacts he is just Brian. I have not granted anyone permission to drop in. I also have not recently contacted him in any way. Was he dropping in on me? Was he listening in on me?
so, our local donation spot had a rather nice condition echo dot 4th gen, without the clock mind, and it needs an adapter.
I checked that it worked, using my 3rd gen's adapter, but I'm pretty sure the 4th gen needs a higher wattage adapter? does anyone know what adapter I need?
