Scenes not updating in routines

I try not to use the Alexa app anymore, It just seems to be getting worse.

But trying to update some routines today, and the newest disaster is that Alexa no longer seems to update the list of scenes when adding to a routine. Sigh

I understand that Bezos is letting Alexa die because it didn't allow him to buy anymore yachts... But there are quite a few of us that have spent thousands on devices that pretty much no longer work :(

Cant wait for Home Assistants voice hardware to mature and I can finally ditch this sunk cost rubbish

Overnight Spotify not working

I play a 12-hour brown noise podcast on Spotify to help me sleep but over the last few weeks it keeps stopping at around 2 hours. I keep waking up in the middle of the night to silence and having to press play again which is so annoying. Does anyone know how to fix this?

New echo pop, with previously owned echo dot - pairing them as one?

I'm attempting to pair these two devices, as initially I thought - huh, wouldn't it be great to not have to yell from the kitchen for Alexa to hear me from the den. So I picked up an echo pop for the kitchen thinking since it's part of the same ecosystem it'd work out well enough, plus it was on sale for a relatively cheap price.

Now while the two devices can acknowledge each other, and behave as a stereo pair for music only evidently - this isn't exactly what I had in mind. I certainly don't use Alexa devices for music.

For example, when I'm in the kitchen and ask the echo pop to set a 5 minute timer - when I head into the den that very same timer is not displayed on my echo dot. Testing even just a timer on my echo dot, when it goes off it's not even audible on the echo pop... same the other way around.

What would I need to make this work, or am I out of luck thinking this would work to begin with? I presumed the Echo Pop could act as an extension of the Dot, but it doesn't seem to be working out that way.

EDIT: In the app, trying pairing via bluetooth just makes audio come through the device initialized when pairing... so that didn't work out either as it ends up having audio come out of only one device as a result.

Two echo 4th gens or one echo studio which set up sounds better.

I’ve been looking to buy an echo studio to listen to music but recently I’ve heard a couple of people say that two echo 4th gen’s with the echo subs sound better. I can buy two refurbished echo 4th gen’s for $100 + $120 for the sub or one echo studio for $200. What setup would sound better? Thanks.

Unable to link Spotify

Recently I have had a lot of issues with Spotify playing on my Echo dot, it would stop playing after a few songs into a playlist etc. Online advice was to try unlinking and re-linking Spotify and the Alexa which I tried but then it wouldn't let me re-link. When I press accept for Spotify to link, it then goes to a page saying my Alexa app needs an update and to either update or re-install the app. I am on Android so I followed the steps to search for an update but Playstore claims all apps are up-to-date, so I uninstalled and re-installed the app. This hasn't helped and I still keep getting the same error, I have tried re-installing twice. So all I have done is made my issue worse as I can't even link Spotify with my Alexa.

Does anyone more tech savvy have any advice or solutions?

tl;dr Can't re-link my Spotify to my Alexa account. Keep being told the Alexa App on android needs an update or to be re-installed. Playstore claims the app is up-to-date and I have tried re-installing twice but still having the same error message.

love my Echo Buds with Active Noise Cancellation (2021 release, 2nd gen)...

but can anybody recommend to me a way of better keeping them in my ears. I've tried each tip size (that's what she said) but they still slip out after about 20minustes of use. would love some over the ears add-on hooks, even if I have to print them myself. honestly custom fitted in-ear monitor style re-shelling would be welcome.

How do I remove this device?

I’d like to remove this unresponsive device from my Alexa app but every time I click it to remove it just sends me to a blank page? There’s no option anywhere. I’ve looked on the ‘manage your content and devices’ section on amazons website but the device isn’t listed on there.

Anyone else had this issue and knows how to resolve it please?

Can I set Alexa to play reminders to a specific group of Echos?

I have been using Echo in my bedroom, study room, bathroom, work (physically away from home), echo auto, and echo frames. I never cared for creating groups. One of the features I heavily use is the Reminder. So, my reminders play everywhere. Last week, I got an Echo 5 as a birthday present for my younger sister. I added her as Family with her voice profile. Then I deleted the group named "Home" that was already there, and created two "My Room" and "Sister Room". Added all my devices in "My Room" including my office Echo. Added my sister's Echo in the "Sister Room". Now I realize I cannot set Alexa to play reminders only in "My Room" devices. There is a setting for either play on the device spoken to, or Everywhere. Before I fiddled around, and before I had deleted the default group "Home", I recall seeing third options in the Reminders section, that was - Home and Everywhere. I don't know what that option did but recreating the Home group doesn't bring this option back.

The reason I didn't create a separate account for my sister is that I wanted my sister to be able to play Amazon Music. And the "Amazon Household" feature is not there in my region (i.e., I am not in the USA).

Echo Studio still the go-to for audio performance?

I have a studio and love it, but was looking into a Sonos speaker. Unfortunately the Sonos won’t play simultaneously with Alexa devices, so that’s out of the picture.

Is the Studio still the go-to? I have an Echo 4th gen (non echo dot), and the performance is fine as well.

How to make it default to calling cell phone, not devices, when asking to call someone

Need my mom to be able to yell "Alexa call Sally" if she falls. It keeps wanting to go to Sally's echo devices. How do I make it default to my cell phone number?

She has Alzheimer's so I want it as simple as possible and I don't think she will remember to say "Call Sally's mobile" or choose from two options if it gives them to her

Echo playing music and news unprompted. No Spotify or any other music app.

Examples: TV off, me just chilling in dead silence on reddit. It started to talk and then played music. 4pmish

Food cooking. Quiet otherwise, start blasting a news story. Evening this week.

Just quietly getting ready to leave. It starts talking then blaring I don't remember which.

History: What's going on here? I have no music services. I dont use it for music because 4 years ago it couldn't find basic songs and I wasn't going to pay. So it never got used this way. No news either. It has been offering extra services for after commands starting 3 months ago ish. Being extra pushy really. I only use my echo for the weather. A few months back I canceled prime. Since then the emails and messages have increased for obvious reasons.

So what it boils down to: How do I stop this shit?

Is it possible to use an airport express like this with Alexa echos

So I’m wanting to make an echo stereo system with airplay support using a echo sub and 2 echo plus 2 But I would still want Alexa support so I’m wondering if I could just plug the airport into just one or something else like get a dedicated airplay receiver for something like that

Btw the main reason I’m going with an Alexa based system is because it still has Apple Music support plus of this robot i have called vector which has Alexa built in

Spotify issues

I didn't used to have problems playing Spotify on my Echo until recently. Now it randomly pauses playback and skips songs for no apparent reason. Any ideas what might be causing that?

(It's making it basically useless for my purposes so I'm getting really close to just sending Amazon's little evesdropping ad personaliser to a landfill to rot and getting a Bluetooth speaker for this instead. I'm damn sure not going to give them money to subscribe to an "upgraded AI" just to make it work as well as it did in the first place if that's what they're trying to do.)

Not playing Spotify playlist when asked

When I ask Alexa to play any Spotify playlist it will only play albums from my library, usually just playing whatever was played last.

Is this a common issue or just me?

Unlinking and linking Spotify again didn’t help

Somebody please help me before I throw all this in the trash

I’m sorry but I need help so bad. I got these stupid Alexa lightbulbs and the living room one disconnects at least once a month, and take OVER AN HOUR to reconnect. I’m good with technology, I’ve never had issues in my life like these lightbulbs give me. They’re convenient when they work, but the problem is them staying working. I have no choice but to use lamps in my apartment (there’s like almost 10 light switches in this apartment and not a single overhead light except in kitchen and bathroom) so when they stop working I literally have no lights. Like I feel like I’ve wasted money and time and these. These lightbulbs are the bane of my existence. The one in my bedroom randomly turns to red light either in the middle of the night and I wake up to redness, or when I’m just hanging out on my bed. The living room just decides it’s done with life, idk.

Oh no, it looks like Amazon has discontinued the Echo Link and Echo Link Amp!

They no longer show up with an Amazon search, but the old listings can be found using a Google search, which shows them as " Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

That usually means they have been discontinued, just like if you do a Google search for Echo Buttons or Echo Flex!

Linking MLB At Bat Account Failure

Just tried to add the MLB skill and link accounts but after entering my password it says linking failed and that I need to update or re-install the alexa app. I did both of those things and it still gives the error when I try to link again. Is there anywhere else I can link a skill outside the app? Am I just screwed and it's not going to work?

Echo no longer controls tv menu on anything

My dad is disabled and has lots of difficulties using a remote, so in the past he was able to use alexa to tell the tv to move to the right around netflix or scroll down with ease. for the past few months it has just not been working.

Things we have tried

  • factory reset both tv and alexa
    • did not work
  • created new account after factory reset.
    • did not work
  • changed his fire tv for my own newer firetv (2023 model)
    • worked for ~2 weeks and then stopped aswell
  • just purchased a new echo pop whne we were originlly on the echo dot
    • did not work either.

i have no idea what to do now. any ideas or alternatives to help my dad out?

Alexa singing the worm song unprompted

Help. Help. Help. Me and my housemate (both female) have been casually chatting and watching TV all evening. Out of nowhere, our Alexa started singing what we now know is the worm song/‘nobody likes me’ nursery rhyme at full volume. It only turned off when I managed to unplug it.

We are absolutely terrified and can’t find anything on the internet about this happening to others.

What the hell just happened?
