Anybody use smart things to create escape room puzzles?

My wife's birthday is coming up, and I'm thinking about trying to use some of my SmartThings gadgets to make some at-home escape room puzzles. Has anybody used anything like this, or does anybody have any suggestions? I'm armed to the teeth with Hue, Sonos, Alexa, Plex, and a dozen or more smart switches, buttons, and contact sensors!

Motion sensor

I'd like to know if this has happened to others. Ever since an update to my motion sensor, drive date 2024-10-10, the battery drain has increased.

Before a battery would last almost a year but now they last about a months.

Is there a way to drop down a driver version.

SmartThings app is always offline

SmartThings app is always offline

Hi everyone, I am looking for advice and help regarding Samsung SmartThings app and Jetbot robot vacuum cleaner. We have connected SmartThings app with home Wi-Fi and in the beginning, the robot vacuum cleaner worked well through the cycles without any issues.

However suddenly a few weeks ago, it stops every few minutes, blinks red and app claims its connection issue and shows offline status for the vacuum cleaner. Thus, the SmartThings app keeps loading and not working properly, constantly showing its offline, "check wifi connection" and this causes an error with Jetbot Combo robot cleaner. Our wifi is good, router has been checked, close proximity to the charging station... And I cant think of anything else being the problem but the app itself. I have followed the "update Wi-Fi information" steps multiple times and still, the robot cleans for just a few minutes before stopping and giving the error alarm... Since it worked fine for a few weeks and no changes have occured to the Wi-Fi connection, I cant figure out what's the problem? :(

Its driving me crazy so any advice or help is warmly appreciated! Thank you! :)

CES 2025 Highlights: Health Mirror, Smart Spoon, Private Cloud, etc...

I just returned from CES 2025, and I came across some really interesting tech:Withings’ Health Mirror: This prototype “health screening mirror” scans your body and combines data from wearables to track things like heart rate, sleep, and muscle composition. It's impressive, but the privacy concerns? Definitely something to think about.

Electric Salt Spoon: This quirky gadget from Kirin uses electric currents to enhance salty flavors without adding actual salt. I tried it and it kinda worked. At around $125, though, it’s a pretty niche splurge.

Private Cloud Storage: Local storage is back in focus, and I was excited to see new Ugreen NASync models. They mix local storage with cloud-like convenience but skip the subscriptions. And the built-in AI for photo organization is a cool feature to have.

What’s the coolest or weirdest tech you’ve seen recently?

Matter not working with SmartThings

Hi,

I have Samsung S23 phone that has the built in Samsung SmartThings app. I have this matter compatible Smart Plug Tapo P110M however when trying to add it via the SmartThings app by scanning the QR code on this Tapo Plug I get error message saying Couldn't add device you need a hub to connect to this device.

I see there's a matter certified version of this smart plug called P110MA. What is the hardware or firmware differences between P110M & P110MA or they both exactly the same except one is officially certified on paper? The certified one will get more future support/updates?

How do I add this smart plug to my phone?

Thanks,

Replacement recommendation for Schlage Touchscreen Deadbolt

My Schlage Touchscreen Deadbolt has quit working after 7 years of service. Any recommendations for replacement? It can be Zwave, Zigbee or Matter. I try very hard to avoid having any of my ST devices on WiFi, so no WiFi.

My Smartthings broke suddenly? 45% of devices offline.

Woke up yesterday, 1/10/2025 and noticed my "coffee" routine didn't work. Did some investigation, found that most of my GE and Inoveli wired light switches are offline, along with various NYCE/Aeotec sensors, some Iris & Inoveli outlets, all schlage locks, in total, about 45% of my devices are offline. I've rebooted my internet, my router, my Gen2 hub, speed test shows internet working, did zwave repair, any suggestions on what could be going on? Anyone else have this happen very recently?

Matter and Thread

I have a Smartthings system based on a Smartthings hub (v2 I believe) with 50+ switches, locks, etc. The vast majority of the devices are zwave or zigbwe.

I'm going to be adding some new devices this year but don't have a solid understanding of matter and thread. What do I need in this this environment to add matter-based devices?

IKEA Vallhorn Motion Sensor

I’ve managed to connect one of these sensors using the Mc driver, however it doesn’t seem to be sensing any motion. The entities for illuminance and motion both appear in HASS, but only illuminance show historical events. Any ideas how to fix this?

I have about a half dozen Innr plugs throughout my house. For some reason all of them completely disappeared from both Smartthings and Alexa yesterday. Does anyone know what’s going on?

Routine not turning off Meross Smart Plug

Hi all,

I've got a bit of a Mish mash going on here, which may be the source problem, but I wanted to ask first.

I'm using smart things to link a Meross plug to a smart home temperature sensor. The plug is connected to a radiator, the idea being that temperature drops below 18, plug comes on, when it gets above 21.5, plug goes off.

I can get the plug to come on, can't get it to turn off. I may have had some luck once I turned made the turn off point a round 21, but surely this can handle .5 of a degree?

Samsung Smarttag2 getting it's own phone?

I'm considering putting a ST2 and a connected Samsung phone in the trunk of my car. Will it notify other Samsung phones than this one after some time? I've read that other Samsungs are notified if they move together with the tag. And yeah I know, it's easy to detect Bluetooth trackers with apps. Sorry for this probably stupid question.

is it possible to cancel the smarttag service completely?

If I uninstall the smarthings app, does the smarttag service stop completely?

I don't want other people's smarttags to use my phone and I'm looking for a way around this.

Meross Integration Down (Jan 2025)

I woke up this morning to none of my Meross items working. I tried relinking them, and rebooting my hub all without them reconnecting.

Is anyone else seeing this or is it a "me" problem?

Moes Fingerbot edge driver OR Controlling a Alexa routine?

I need to use a Moes Fingerbot to push a button in my home. Unfortunately, while it can connect to SmartThings, the driver it uses doesn't actually work. I can, however, connect it to my Echo with a built-in Zigbee hub, but I can't figure out any way to then trigger an Alexa routine through SmartThings.

Specifically, I need to activate this via scanning an NFC tag, which I could hypothetically do by using a Galaxy phone routine to trigger a SmartThings routine, which in turn triggers an Alexa routine, but I don't know how to achieve that last step.

All of my searches only produce results from back when SmartThings used the Groovy IDE — nothing usable today. Basically, I think I need a virtual switch that is reported as a sensor, but don't see a way to create that.

Edit: I think I found a solution — https://community.smartthings.com/t/st-edge-vedge-creator-a-virtual-device-generator-for-end-users/231786

SmartThings, Thread Switch, Matter over Wifi LED Driver

Hello, looking for some help.

Im fairly new to the smart home tech. But I'm into tech anyways so I've picked it up quick.

Basically. I have: Aqara H1 (wired neutral) AOETECH SmartThings Hub Hub M3 Matter (over wifi) LED driver (linked to ST directly)

I have a routine in SmartThings that the H1 switch controls the Matter over Wifi LED controller aswell as hard wired dumb lights when pressed.

Works fine with wifi.

Does not control the Matter driver without WiFi.

I thought I was onto somthing here. Can anyone help me out a bit. Is it a problem with the fact the Aqara H1 is linked to the Aqara app and not SmartThings directly? Is it a an obvious problem with the driver

Challenges in upgrading to SmartThings Station and sharing my experience with the China Version

TL;DR:

Tried upgrading my smart home with a SmartThings Station from China (model EP-P9501), but it doesn’t work outside China. Now returning it. Considering importing the Korean version (EP-P9500TBEGKR), but unsure if it’ll work in Malaysia. Open to suggestions!

As a proud Samsung fan, most of the gadgets I own are Samsung-branded. Unfortunately, not everything Samsung makes is available here in Malaysia. Recently, I decided it was time to upgrade my smart home setup which I originally put together back in 2016/17. My dream is to have SmartThings as the hub for local automation with Zigbee 3.0 and Matter devices, while using Google Home for voice control.

The problem? Neither the SmartThings Hub nor the Aeotec Hub is sold anywhere nearby. My options were slim: the SmartThings Station from either China or Korea. Ordering from Taobao in China seemed like the most convenient route, so I went for the China version (model EP-P9501).

I was so excited to try it out—but that excitement quickly turned to frustration. It turns out the China version doesn’t work outside the country. Now I’m in the tedious process of returning it, feeling like I just wasted time and effort.

From what I’ve found, only the EP-P9500 seems like it might work here. But even then, it’s a gamble. The US version is labeled EP-P9500CBEGUS, and the Korean version is EP-P9500TBEGKR. I’m tempted to try importing the Korean version, but what if it doesn’t work either? Returning it might not even be an option.

I’m sharing this experience because I wish someone had warned me—it would’ve saved me a lot of hassle. If you’ve faced something similar or have any advice, I’d love to hear your thoughts. For now, I’m still figuring out what to do next.

Just moved- Issues with Hub and flashing blue

I just moved and I'm trying to get my Smart Things hub to connect. It kept flashing blue. I ended up deleting the hub and doing a hard reset. I continue to have the flashing blue light. I tried connecting directly to an ethernet cable but I was getting a solid magenta. Any ideas of what I can do?

I really only care about having door sensors. Any recommendations of what other product I can use if I can't get the hub working?
