Looking for advice for moving up north

I own a 2016 Honda accord coupe, and I’m from a southern state in the US that never sees any snow. I’m planning on moving up to the northeast soon, do I need a different car or specific tires? I have zero experience with living or driving in an actual winter climate.

Looking for advice preparing a 2018 F30 for a cold winter…

Hi all, I live in an extremely cold climate, to the point where temperatures may drop below -30 Celsius without wind chill.

My F30 has always had the privilege of being kept in heated underground parking, but sadly this winter it will need to tough out life in a partially-insulated, unheated garage.

I’ve accepted it’s nearly impossible to install a block heater on this car, so I’ve research two alternatives for fluids.

  1. An infrared heater “somewhere nearby” the car ran for 1-2 hours before starting

  2. An oil pan heater stuck on and ran for 1-2 hours before starting.

I’ve avoided forced air heaters as I do not believe the garage is insulated well enough for them to have any impact.

I’m also wondering if independent of those two, I should connect a battery trickle charge…

Would love to hear any advice or ideas you might have!

This year I decided to drive my 1990 Peugeot 205 XS during the winter and it was a lot of fun. :) I enjoyed how light and nimble it is. #dailydrive #automobilista

Sheets of ice inside my windshield

So basically like the title says i didn’t drive my car for about 2 days and had a whole sheet of ice on the inside of my car. Is there anyway to stop this. I’ve got to get another moisture absorber thing but it doesn’t always do the trick. I’m assuming since my car is parked in the sun that there’s condensation from where the snow came in on my boots and it’s collecting and re freezing overnight. Any suggestions on how to eliminate or help? is this common?

Winter tires & wheels advice

Looking to get winter tires & wheels for my 2019 Kia Forte EX (225/45R17). I want Blizzak WS90s based on several reviews I’ve seen and leaning towards steel wheels. Any advice as to if that sounds good and any idea how much I should be expecting to pay? I found some WS90s at Tire Rack for $181.99/ tire and steel wheels for $116.27/wheel. Is this reasonable or should I look elsewhere? I’m planning to keep this car for years and put winter tires on each year.

Stay Safe This Winter! Nearing 500 subs, new moderator?

Winter has been late for most of us, but it is here now! Just a reminder that no matter what vehicle you drive, what tires you have, how good of a driver you believe you are, snow and ice will still beat us. Poor conditions just mean to be more aware and drive slower. Cars don't look as good in pictures if you destroy them.

Second, coming up on the new year (and nearing 500 subs) I would like to find another moderator to revamp this page. Someone with CSS experience on Reddit would be great as I have some ideas in mind. If any of you have ideas to add to the page, I will gladly consider them. Send me a message expressing your interest, as well as other subs you coded for (not mandatory) and I will get back to you!

Bridgestone Blizzak or Michelin X-Ice?

I live in Montana and I just got a new 2018 Crosstrek Manual ( :D lucky me). I am looking into buying snow tires, but which ones should I get?
