Just gona leave this here... For the Fam For The W
Love Chris Streveler, but he's not starting QB material, can't throw accurately enough, not sure about his ability to read defenses. Was a great piece to an offensive scheme that combined his running ability with Collaros's passing, but once Collaros goes down, or has a bad game, Streveler can't handle the #1 QB job.
Bombers have to be held accountable for depending on luck to keep that combo working. Streveler was abused in one home game this year when he and Oliviera carried the complete rough-housing offensive load. I believe Collaros was out that game. When Collaros goes down -- or proves human and can't be his usual outstanding consistent self - Bombers are extremely vulnerable to offensive collapse. Later in the year Streveler takes an illegal low hit and goes down, destroying the offensive combo scheme plan. Better find a legit backup next year, most of the league knows we've only been one serious injury to Collaros from a losing season for many years now.
Overall -- great team culture and player development, good management, sell-out fanbase, five years of mostly winning. Hopefully most of the core remains. Getting home field advantage for Grey Cup 2025 is there for the taking. Collaros will be hungry, but let's also have him tutor some serious QB talent. We've found quality and depth for almost every other position, why not at QB. I spent time at training camps, didn't get excited by any red-shirted newbie pivots over last few years, at all. But scores of non-NFL candidates are out there bred annually by the huge American college factory, and traditionally our scouts have had sharp eyes and good instincts -- for every other position.
In the Cup, solely because we don't have a reliable QB replacemnt, we stuck with an injured Colloras (his throwing finger deeply gashed, just ten minutes ago, stitched, numbed and gloved) for two killer interceptions. Toronto's head coach Dinwiddie saw Colloras poor return form on the Bomber sidelines and realized the game was theirs. Meanwhile efficient journeyman backup Nike Arbucle conquered Bomber's formidable defensve with professionol cool.
As much as personal sacrifice for team cohesion (FIFO fit in or f___ off) has been a winning Mantra for the tough BIg Blue, and footbal is a team game and coach Mike O'Shea has practised as a player what he preaches-- we also need excecptional professional talent. How about Trevor Harris, Tre Ford, M.bethel Thomas, V. Adams (trade), Masoli, Dustin Crumb, Jake Meier plus several experienced QB others. This has been our achilles heel in my opinion, preventing us from relieving Collaris when he's off his game, or replacing him when his throwing hand is freshely stitched, numbed and wrapped in a never-before-tried desensitizing soft glove, in the Grey Cup. Talk about the tream tempting fate, and it arrived leaving us defenceless by design.
Just wondering, if we had won the GC in ‘19 then lost in 21 and 22 but won in 23 before losing this year (or any other order where we win 2 of 5), would you feel better, worse, the same?
Personally I don’t think it would’ve changed too much for me, but I guess I could see how the 2 in a row to begin the stretch starts the whole ‘Dynasty’ conversation that maybe doesn’t happen and wouldn’t have clouded the losses as much.
I think if it had been reversed, and we lost 3 straight and won the last 2 the first three losses would’ve been unbearable. I don’t know if the team even wins the last 2 in that scenario. I guess it would feel great today, but going 3 years in the big game without winning would’ve been extremely frustrating! Especially if they were as close as the Montreal and first Argo loss were.
Regardless 5 straight championship appearances and 2 victories is a remarkable achievement. Here’s hoping that the team can make it 6 in a row and get another trophy for the case next year!
Thoughts?

I know it was certainly not the deciding play in the end, but how did seemingly no one else notice this last night? I saw it immediately, and got downvoted in the CFL thread for daring to suggest it was a delay of game.
It would have been a 10 yard penalty at that point in the half. Maybe they re-kick and make it anyway, maybe they miss and we get a return...maybe it changes absolutely nothing in the end.
Yes, I'm whining, but stuff like this is frustrating as hell. In a tight game, every point is critical and professional referees should not be missing the basics like this. And it's driving me insane that no one else on the internet had an issue with this play.
Alright, Bomber fans... That sucked. So, let's take a deep breath and start asking questions about who should stay on this team next year, who should we try to add, and who should go?
Just a reminder that you can't cut the whole team. I'd also suggest considering that if you're going to get rid of a marquee player, you might suggest who could replace him (either a pending FA, or someone in-house). Maybe that will help keep the complaining to a minimum.
Back in 2018 after we lost the West Final, and we were in the 29th season without a championship, if someone had told me “Here’s the deal, the Bombers get to go to the Grey Cup the next 5 straight seasons, but you can only win 2 of them.” … I think all Bombers fans would have taken that deal!
Hopefully they have enough left in the tank and make the right changes in the off season to win it all at home next year!
Which finger did Collaros cut ? Was it the little one ? The one that goes WEEEE WEEEEE all the way home
Would this game have been any different if the bombers had a backup that had some experience and could have come in and made plays with the ball? No disrespect to Terry Wilson but he is a rookie with no experience trying to make big plays in the Grey Cup.
At least we'll have some Grey Cups to show for it... but we'd now be the Bills of the CFL...
I love Buck Pierce and his offence. But in the past couple seasons I'm starting to think the rest of the league has caught up. It's becoming increasingly rare that he is able to pull the wool over the opponents eyes. When it does happen it's usually against Saskatchewan. This week though every receiver seemed to have trouble getting open (except for that first quarter). Made me think a few times that the Argos DB knew the pass route better than the receivers.
And didn't Brady Olivera just win MOP and Outstanding Canadian? Why was he not a bigger part of the game plan? he hardly touched the ball after the first quarter. It was like he was sent in just to block. Bizarre. During that one series where Collaros injured his hand and the backup QB was in I thought this was a perfect time to get Olivera some looks. But nope. Used as a decoy in first play and totally ignored on the second play.
Maybe time for a new offensive scheme ?
I'm not even going to watch. Three years of absolutely gutless performances
Tell him to walk home after the game
