Announcement coming at 1... any guesses as to what it will be?
Howdy, neighbors. I'll keep it short and sweet - my family is looking at the increasingly likely possibility of moving to Manitoba from the USA.
We live on the border (an hour away from Ottawa) and have actually visited nearly all of the provinces. We have not been to Manitoba, but planned a trip for this spring. Our local radio has exclusively Canadian stations, so the news keeps up with us. I am actually a doctor (username checks out) and qualify for ExpressEntry. The process is still confusing as heck to me, but Manitoba seems to be one of the better provinces to practice in.
I'm looking for information:
Where should I visit when scoping out the city? I generally prefer the quiet - should I be looking at suburbs?
How kid-friendly is the area?
Cost of living - We own a house, but I know housing is a huge issue across Canada right now. Are most folks living in apartments?
The cold doesn't bother me. I've lived in Alaska. Don't care much for nightlife or foodie culture. Severe food allergies and a preschooler will do that to you. Thanks in advance.
As the title suggests, I am curious to know what post-grad was like for anybody here who graduated from USB or Asper. I’m currently in a business degree program and am contemplating moving to asper for accounting. I hear their networking groups and opportunities are outstanding for accounting and finance, so I would like to know if I’d be better off pursuing a Bachelor’s of Commerce there or a BBA at St. B where I currently am for those fields of studies.
Any anecdotes or suggestions anybody would like to share regarding the pros and cons of job-hunting during/after either program would be greatly appreciated.
Stories of experiences in both faculties would also be greatly appreciated, especially from anybody who may have attended both.
Hi! I was hoping this could be something I could find assistance with on here. My husband and I have been going through a tough time for a long time. The therapist we’ve been seeing for a while now doesn’t seem to be the right fit. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could recommend a good couples therapist that has worked well for them. 😊
I’m in a position where a vehicle that I recently bought used maybe written off. Although I did put money down on the vehicle and traded my previous one in, I still owe a significant amount on it.
What I understand is that the amount that I would get back if it was written off would likely be less than what I owe.
Can people tell me what their experiences were like if they wanted to buy the vehicle back.
If they felt they got a fair amount for their vehicle if they took into account any accessories that they added on or repairs such as new tires battery etc.
How they may negotiated with Mpi
Thanks very much. I had a previous post up but I was getting some less than helpful comments so I reworded this post. Thanks for your help.
In response to current events, we should be telling the MB and all provincial pharmacy boards to prohibit filling prescriptions coming from the USA (at least temporarily). They do have real power in this respect. A huge number of these prescriptions are filled because their own system doesn’t work (especially from MB). We shouldn’t be supporting this and it puts immediate and real pressure on Americans to back off - would be happy to share the email address of the College CEO but not sure if that’s allowed
Churchill will soon be a year round open water port and we should have a beautiful refinery there to both produce cheaper gasoline for Canadians and also have a beautiful port to export to our true trade partners. This is the best Oil Sands Oil, I think, in history. It’s a fantastic source of Canadian Oil, incredible. Nobody makes a better Oil Sands Oil. And, it’s full of hydrocarbons. That I can tell you. They are terrific, terrific hydrocarbons. We can sell so many of these hydrocarbons overseas, I keep them all over the place. I give them to people, they love them.
Does anyone know anything about Campaign Research Inc or Campaign Support call Center? I just got hired on a remote position. They are based in Toronto and in Winnipeg.
Any info on the company wisp be amazing! THANK YOU for your help!
Having my social in the next few months and looking for alternatives to the typical pizza that tastes worse than the box it comes in. Besides cold cuts, is there anything else that people have used/seen in the past that were enjoyable?
So apparently they are re doing the whole of city transit system. I agree transit needs to be more efficient and faster. However losing the 66 (appear to be losing it based on the maps) that go from Unicity down grant to city hall is a big loss for me personally as well as I’m sure many others.

New to Winnipeg and due to winters can’t explore places for thrifting i want to buy thrifted carhartt or workwear jacket if anyone know places for workwear’s thrift let me know
I realize this is short notice, but my family and I (who live in St. Vital) are going to be in the Garden City area tomorrow morning and are looking for recommendations on a good breakfast spot since we aren't from that area.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let us know. Thanks!
Looking into watching “Indecent” by MTC! Does anyone know how close the very front seats are (green section), and are they worth trying out. Thanks!!
Hopefully this won't be just downvoted into oblivion...
I've been able to own a cat and my family has been able to come visit me because of the Liveclear cat food by Purina. It's been extremely effective in helping us all with cat allergies. For me personally, I don't need to consider allergy shots or even need to take medication anymore. It's been fantastic!
I'm mostly wondering if there is a Canadian alternative. The food itself contains an egg-derived protein which binds to the Fel d1 protein in the cat’s saliva and neutralizes it. If there is a Canadian equivalent to this, I will gladly buy it.
If there is no equivalent, should I be concerned with the brand being pulled from the shelves? It's currently around $30 for the smallest bag and I assume it will either go way up in price or be pulled.
I have a lot of women’s clothing that I’m looking to donate, I’m wondering where the best place for it would be? It’s a mix of somewhat formal things and more casual items as well, everything in great condition. Also some shoes. Ideally I’d like to bring it somewhere helping women get back on their feet, lots of smart business casual things. Thank you in advance.
Im on the hunt for some bagged premade popcorn that is buttery and salty.
(Not the dollarama one! The kind that is made fresh and bagged in store)
They usually sell it at some corner stores! Wheres your favourite place to get some!! 🍿
EDIT - I am very aware movie theatres sell popcorn. Im looking for a corner store that sells by the bag.
This is not an event post about raves 🎉 🕺 💡
There is a lot of negativity these days and life can be pretty stressful. I’d love to see the other side of our weekly rant sessions with some positivity.
Greetings Winnipeg. Let’s hear about your positive experiences. Did you receive good service somewhere? Did someone show you kindness or did you see an act of compassion? What would you like to rave about this week?
Anyone making these yet? I want to buy one. Ideally with proceeds going towards supporting companies and Canadians harmed by US tariffs.
Looked around and didn't see anything. If it comes to it I will use a marker and poster board but it will be ugly lol.
I read that you can convert your foreign driving license into a MB driving license. In Mexico City there is a single valid license for both cars and bikes; could I convert mine into a motorcycle license (class 6) ? How long would it take?
What a great timining especially for Arby's. So whats our plan here? Since buy Canadian, Arby's likely get majority of their ingredients to the US. Lol
Can anyone tell me where I can buy products directly from local suppliers? Without going through grocery store. Flour, vegetables, milk etc. r/ManitobaMadeProducts
Vomiting and diarrhea, mostly the latter. Got it from my wife who works with little ones. Was careful to disinfect to avoid catching it, but this thing’s very contagious.
