Are mud flaps mandatory in Manitoba?

Was driving and was getting sprayed with snow/slush on Chief Peguis trail and saw several pickup trucks with out them, thus the question.

MPI Wait time

Had a body shop do an estimate of damage on my vehicle last week. I’m very sure it’s a write off. I don’t want to go vehicle shopping (it’s still drivable) until I know the payout offer. This also affects my holiday shopping plans.

Any employees of MPI in this sub?

Will I hear from MPI soon? Before Christmas? Next year?

Thanks (Don’t tell me it’s in the mail!)

Indian restaurants, but fast food style?

I like the Indian restaurants at Cityplace and Portage Place because I can satisfy my Indian food cravings quickly and cheaply. But are there any other Indian fast food-style restaurants in Winnipeg?

I live on the south side and I'd love to be able to grab some vegetable korma or butter chicken with the same speed and simplicity that I get when ordering a Big Mac.

River @ Donald - around 4:25 to 4:30

If you were at just before the lights going east on River, did the white SUV get swiped by the blue Van? I was at a bad angle and I saw the Van move into the next lane and the SUV honked at the blue van when the van cut the SUV off. The blue van suspiciously high-tailed it out of there… so I’m curious if someone saw it from a different angle.

St Avila French immersion school - did you move the kid to private school later?

Any feedback on St Avila (French immersion)? especially for parents whose kids are now in Middle or high school. Did you move them to SJR/private schools for high school? Do your kids/friends who passed out of St Avila still speak fluent french? did it help with the career they chose? Is IB/AP school a better choice for French immersion students?

Tire Retailers

As the title states, looking for people’s favourite tire retailers for customer experience (into the future as well), current promotions etc.

Going to be buying a set of 4 all season or all weather tires. Any advice on these are helpful too.

Thanks

Sargent Dairy Queen now open in winter?

Went by there and noticed the rolling things were up. Thought maybe someone was in there ensuring everything was clean and shut down. Later on, I see someone there at the till, thought "computer updates" then saw the Open sign was on.

Considering a Move to 160 Smith St. (Northview) – Any Insights?

Hi everyone,

I recently received a call from Northview about a unit at 160 Smith St, and I’m considering making the move. I’m currently living at 555 St. Mary Ave, also managed by Northview, and I’ve been ok with the new management here.

If anyone has lived at 160 Smith St or knows about the building, I’d love to hear your thoughts on:

  • Overall experience living there (noise levels, maintenance, cleanliness, etc.)
  • How it compares to 555 St. Mary Ave
  • Anything I should know before deciding

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Best Korean Restaurant

Hello!

It's my husband's birthday in less than a week, and I was wondering what the best Korean restaurant in Winnipeg is.

We typically go to Little Korea, so probably something of that caliber is great. haha

TIA!

Is there a Patient Access Portal to lab results online for Manitoba?

Is there a simple route to getting testing results via online? Other provinces have health portals that you can access to get your own lab results, imaging and scans, and they're uncomplicated.

I've looked at EChart and it's not specifically clear if/what I have access to as a patient. Manitoba Shared Health isn't any clearer. Pocket Health is limited through Manitoba Shared Health.

ISO- the artisan

https://preview.redd.it/ld8pqb1boo4e1.jpg?width=240&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e15bde7a3c56f42a63487240f9744de38ac9357

This was a gift from Christmas last year. It was purchased at Teekca's Boutique near Polo Park. I am looking for the artisan who made it so I can order another one. It appears unique in that the tree of life is made of crystals? (not beads) and has crystal/stone? chimes. Can anyone direct me as to where I can look; can't seem to find any like this. I did try the store, but nothing from there yet. Thanks all.

Best nurseries?

I know, I know. It's snowing like the dickens, and will be for months.

But I live for spring, and being new to town, I want to know ALL the dirt on your favorite garden spots!

Which have the best roses? Best herbs? Best perennials? Best annuals? Best selection of garden doo-dads, decor and pots?

Most expensive versus most reasonable? Hi me with your suggestions!

Thanks, all!

A&W at 52 Osborne Street Suddenly Closes

The A&W located at 52 Osborne has closed down. Rather unexpectedly to me as I just had a teen burger a few days ago.

There are 'For Lease' signs displayed. As well as a sign thanking customers for their patronage and a list of nearby A&W locations.

I'm not shocked by the closure. I've had some interactions with the owner over the past few years. He seemed more and more dejected about the area. I am shocked by how it seemed to happen overnight.

Another For Lease sign up in the Village.

Sump pump water pooling between houses- need advise for cold weather solutions

Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with an issue where my sump pump discharges water, but it ends up collecting between my house and my neighbor’s. As you can see in the pictures, the area can’t be regraded.

What are some temporary or long-term solutions to prevent water from pooling in this space? Has anyone dealt with a similar issue?

Quiet Eats?

Any thoughts on casual dining preferably with some vegetarian and vegan options, that is also relatively quiet? Not a complaint but as I get older finding it difficult to keep up with conversations with a lot of background music, crowd sounds etc. Thanks!
