Hi all!
I work from home a few days a week. I like the freedom, but like to work around people. Keeps me focused and not distracted or napping. I normally go to coffee shops, but I dont like to spend the money. Any suggestions on where I could go that is quiet and free (that is not my home lol). A few notes about my situation:
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I live in an apartment along W North Ave. My landlord wants to increase the total rent+parking by 7.3%. Is this the norm in Tosa?
I followed the link on one of the Green Tosa Taxpayer Association signs, and saw a pretty significant and very misleading error on their front page. They’re claiming that the referendum will cost a resident with a $400k home almost $17k over a 20 year period. That’s wrong. That’s almost 3x inflated. The real cost is closer to $6k. I tried to follow their Facebook link, but didn’t get anywhere. Anyone know who these people even are?
Edit: I’m not trying to turn this into a political debate, just trying to get the right facts out there. Vote yes or no, whatever is the right choice for you. But bad facts make that choice harder.
Hi all, my wife and I moved to the area a few years ago and recently bought our first place. Looking to get some quotes from electricians on coming in and tidying up some electrical wire along our basement ceiling — cleaning up the look, getting rid of old wires, etc. Would also like to have them test all of our outlets as the home is almost 100 years old.
Would love recommendations from folks who have had positive experiences from local electricians in the past. Thanks!
Does anyone else not have power im in the neighborhood near butler and the entire neighborhood went dark and the street lights on capital went out like an hour ago
My Dad is disabled and is now getting older so he's having trouble keeping up with his house. Does anyone have any recommendations or referrals for a good house cleaner. He has a small dog and really doesn't use most of the house.
Can someone recommend a shoulder surgeon at Froedtert? Thank you!
Hello Redditors of Wauwatosa, I am a highschooler at Wauwatosa West that has started a handyman business over the summer. I can do just about anything you can think of. I am proficient in welding, carpentry, fabrication, lawncare, landscaping, drywalling, decking, fencing, small engines, and painting. For anyone skeptical of my abilities, please feel free to ask for sample picture of my work or go to Cranky Als, as I recently resided the bottom half of their building. So if you or anyone you know is in need of services, please shoot me a DM.
Ordered out from Had’s this evening and wanted to just give them a shout out. Great flavor to everything that we ordered! My kids loved it and vehemently asked for it again. We normally go to India Garden but wanted to switch it up tonight. We definitely will be going back!
Need help with a variety of small home repairs right now, and ideally would like to just "have a guy" going forward. Prefer local to Wauwatosa, too.
Hi. Right now my side of town is dealing with a power outage. Anyway -
I live in an apartment complex. In the hallway there are Exit signs. But during a power outage like today’s they do not light up to show the way to the exits! I’ve inquired with management but they insist there is no law that makes them mandatory to light up in an emergency which is the most stupidest thing I have ever heard!
Is this true in Wauwatosa? I don’t know where to complain about this. What department or office handles something like this? Thx.
BTW we installed an emergency light in the hallway light fixture to at least give some light to the darkened hallway.
Hello, Tosa. I'm new to the area used to own a BBQ catering company. There are a lot of good BBQ restaurants in the area and I'd like you to contact them first. If you're in a pinch for some pulled pork, brisket, ribs, etc, let me know if I can help. Facebook group is Smokin' Caboose BBQ. Thank you.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to shamelessly plug myself here. I'm an independent Optometrist that just started seeing patients at Target on 124th and Capitol! Currently we have appointment slots on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday!
We accept all major vision plans at the moment besides Forward Health/Badgercare. We are in the process of getting approved for those as well.
Come on by and get your eyes checked out!
Does anyone have good recs for residential wood fencing? Looking to fence off our backyard + gate off our driveway
Anyone know what’s going on on Bluemound around Hawley? I saw that is was blocked and a lot of police around 10:30a
lovingly.
The headline is mostly a joke, but I do want to right click, copy and paste Glorioso’s into the village. Can you imagine??
Anyone know what time the fireworks are tonight?
Update: Loki has been found and is now home safe and sound.
I’m looking for someone in Tosa who can do a blowout and makeup for my courthouse wedding end of August. I’ve found a few salons in Milwaukee but they’re downtown or on the east side and would like to stay in the area. I’m trying to keep this as simple as possible (don’t even know if I want a trial, certainly don’t want to have to fill out a packet and mail it in, nor do I have a bridal party to prepare). Anyone in the area have any ideas?
We have been unable to sustain 9 elementary schools for over a decade. With declining birth rates we have to close elementary schools, not spend money rebuilding them.
Washington needs to be merged into Roosevelt and Lincoln. Then rebuild Roosevelt with the money made by selling Washington.
Merge Jefferson into Wilson. Use the money from selling Jefferson to rebuild Madison (we cannot close Madison as it is the only school servicing the northern side of the district. Although since bussing will be a need we could possibly merge it into McKinley (not sure how many kids are there). Merge Eisenhower into underwood.
We could then build a new middle school on the grounds of Eisenhower, and build the sports complex Dr Means thinks we need on the site of Whitman.
In less than 10 years schools will need to be closed.
With selling the properties of the schools closing we will be able to fund any rebuilding of elementary schools.
Then rebuild our middle schools.
Then work on fixing our high schools.
It is craziness to continue to hold onto community schools when we have been struggling for years to fill them, and will continue to struggle.
This will also take the burden of funding it all off the tax payers.
I was out walking my dog and thought perhaps I’d pop in to sbux to get a copy of the Sunday NYT. Sadly, they don’t carry it. Who does around town?
