Hello! How do you get people to actually get engaged in what's going on in their community? It seems like it can be a pretty daunting task.
There are some projects up on their project map, but I'd love to know more about what everyone thinks about current public engagement. What works for you? What doesn't? How can public engagement be better? Do you think it will all be digital? I know this website Instant Input is trying to make the process more transparent.
Any feedback is appreciated. :) Thanks!
Can anyone recommend some universities/institutes in Europe for pursuing a phd course?

Hi! Recently, a Mastodon server for Building/Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Studies was launched. It's https://baudigital.social (Building, Architecture, Urban... digital).
With Urban Studies being one of our core topics, we would like to invite you to open open up an account there or to move your existing one to us.
It's driven by FID BAUdigital, an information service for Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Studies in Germany by several academic institutions (https://www.fid-bau.de/de/).
Applications are now invited to the USF’s International Fellowships for urban scholars from the Global South. Deadline: 20/06/23.
Each award will cover the cost of a sabbatical period at a university of the candidate’s choice, worldwide, for the purpose of writing-up the candidate’s existing research findings in the form of publishable articles and/or a book. The proposed work should be completed under the guidance of a chosen mentor in the candidate’s field of study. Funding is available for a period ranging between 3-9 months, and eligible research may cover any theme pertinent to a better understanding of urban realities in the Global South.

I’m currently working on a lit review for a project examining feedback from students on a campus construction project. Some of the feedback was that the space felt “elite.” We would like to drill down into this comment. Does anyone have any references that could refer me to some peer reviewed references that explores what characteristics makes a space feel “elite” or “not for me?”
The next round of the USF International Fellowships for urban scholars from the Global South will launch in March 2023.
The Fellowships provide support for fully-funded visiting fellowships to institutions worldwide for the purpose of writing-up existing research in the form of traditional publications and other outputs. Applicants must be nationals of a listed country, and working within the Global South at the time of applying (see terms).

How much is done by Urban Studies students, professors and professionals in the fields to reach out to prospective students and future devotees to talk about the profession, its work and its joys? I ask because my niece is interested, so I interviewed someone at her prospective school about it (link). She most recently focused on the red-lining in Omaha, Nebraska.
