Would love people’s opinions on this?
Does anybody know what ever happened to Olga Mironova after filming “ come and see”, I just finished the film and am heavily invested within what happened to her
I am reading a lot lately about sociology of technology and all the "cyborg" turn in it. I remembered a text by John Law where he states something like "I cannot work like a sociologist without my computer and other technological tools". But I missplaced the article or book and now I cannot find it. Anyone has a clue where it might be? Thanks!
Could we get a pinned comment and perhaps some info on the sub? I know this sub is dead but it's going to remain dead if it stays the way it is now. Cheers.
Hello everyone! Bruno Latour, the mind behing ANT and one of the most critical philosophers of ecology and science has published recently a new book.
On his officail webpage you can find the first chapter available in french.

However, I was wondering if anyone has the full ebook. If so, would you mind sharing it?
I'm laughing because I feel like I wanna join this group but I feel like some people are interpreting the "Actor" part of ANT the wrong way. Who here thinks Actor Network Theory is a way to grow your acting career?
Me and a buddy are making a YouTube video for a scientific idea just need someone who stand in front of a camera and describe it basically simple and will give a script/guide
I am trying to learn more about Actor Network Theory for a project.
At the moment my understanding is quite limited, if I've understood the basic tenets correctly, ANT puts forward a theory which conceptualises all actors, objects and entities as nodes of a network which interact and relate in various ways. Further, there is no qualitative distinction between say, humans, plants or cars.
My interest is trying to use ANT as a lens to understand the relatedness between persons - and non-persons - in order to examine difference reference points and frames of something ie climate change.
I understand that a starting point for this might be to explore some of the works of Bruno Latour, if so, does anyone have a recommendation of where to begin. Alternatively, what resources would be suggested to introduce the topic and concept.
Any advice will be appreciated!
I wouldn't have thought of posting this here, ResearchGate being my new go-to forum, but in an amorphous network of networks the question becomes "why not?"
So, some questions I've had as I reflect on ANT.
What are people's thoughts on the permanency, portability, permeability and polymorphism of actors, networks, artifacts (etc) in ANT?
Are the boundaries between networks discernible? How? Are we able to discern the interaction between networks as boundary interactions that result in actor behaviour and interaction?
Do networks, which are emergent or unstable/ephemeral or transnational exist in a state where a boundary or a boundary interaction can be observed?
If a network is determined by the interaction of one or more actors does the network not exist until the interaction? Or is there the potential of a network by virtue of an artifact or is that network extant but in a non-interacting (null?) state?
Okay, that's a start.
Thoughts?
B
Hello, I hope you are having a good day, I'm trying to understand the ANT and use it to trace a Network around the "Fake News" phenomena to understand how "true" it's made (as a Network). Any help it's invaluable, if want to tell me that it's impossible, please tell me why.
Thanks if you read this post.
Hi people,
I would love some help for an essay I'm writing...
I remember reading in some of Latour's writings somewhere saying that he considered Foucault to be a much more empirical researcher than his interpreters have suggested - it may have even been a footnote. I can't seem to find this so if you know what I'm talking about and where it was written some help would be amazing :)
I would like to learn Network theory, especially I would like to know more about the robustness of networks. I gave phyisics background. Can you recommend a book or sth to begin with?
