This is probably a dumb question, but I need reassurance, so if I use all of my discount dollars this semester, will I get another set of discount dollars after paying for my meal plan for next semester?
I'm looking at into the weekend executive MBA program offered UAlbany and wanted to see if there are any alumni that could share their experience? Was it a worthwhile program and did it provide some decent networking opportunities in the area?
My background is manufacturing and the MBA is a stipulation for my next position. Thank you in advance!
Can someone tell me where this is? I’m so confused. I think I need a video LMAO 😂
Hello, I am planning on transferring to ua this fall, I wanted to know if UA has good scholarship because only thing I see is 2.5k scholarship for transfer students. Is there any way you can get more money?
With Michael or Ellen? Just wanted to know if the class is easy, homework, final, etc. Thank you in advance.
I’m a transfer student and I haven’t enrolled for classes yet (Spring 2025), been super busy. Are classes usually filled up at this point or will I be fine? I’m a junior, BA CS major.
Hi guys! Me and my partner are looking to sublet either around here/troy for spring and summer. They go to rpi and I go to UAlbany and we're completely okay sharing one room.
I'm planning on transferring to UAlbany with the new dual admission program that they signed with SUNY Adirondack. I plan on living on campus due to distance. I got a advisment sheet that says I can go for 2 years (6 classes a semester). I wanted to know if anyone knows how different the course load is so I can try and go for 2 years. I would also like to know what life is like living in the LGBTQ housing they have available. Thanks!
Hi! It will only take 2 minutes! Please, college students, fill out this survey for my high school brother’s research project. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScGWS6VSmctT073J7_bjRKxTaMGcsA2XUQs1PZ48tMpYLt7sA/viewform
I was checking my graduation status and the class I needed left. For my last semester, I only need to take three classes which would be 9 credits only. I wonder how this would affect my financial aid? 9 credits technically qualify as a part-time student so I wonder if that will negatively impact my Fafsa and tap. I wanna just chill on my senior year/do internships so I don’t rlly wanna take any unnecessary classes I don’t rly want or need.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it to the mail room before it closes later today. I’ve never mailed/shipped anything from them either so im not sure how it works. I know all absentee ballots must be postmarked for/by today so if I put it in the mailbox they have outside the mail room is that okay? Would it be mailed it time? Thanks in advance!
Any reccs for easy but interesting gen eds (diversity, natural science, humanities, arts)
I called the financial aid office at the ass crack of dawn, right as they opened. No answer, currently on my lunch break called got someone after waiting 20 mins (lol) and she first said that a partial refund had been issued, and the rest would be issued once my TAP is posted. I told her that I got a response from the financial aid office on Friday and previously that everything was posted to my account.
She seemed very confused, said it looked like a partial refund was issued but my balance doesn't reflect it. Asked if I received anything, I didn't. Did some looking, asked when my residency was updated, I told her there wasn't an issue with my residency as this is my second semester at SUNY. She proceeded to say that there's a hold on my account from the residency office, but didn't know why or if it effected my aid. Told her that didn't make sense if the financial aid office said on Friday everything was posted, I can see that everything is posted, nothing on my "to do list" or the "holds" area. I stated that I needed my ledger to show "$0" or a positive amount before I can get reimbursed from my job (did 2 8 week classes).
She placed me on hold for 10+ mins, came back with "haven't been able to speak to anyone about it" and she'd give me a call back.
Will update once she calls me back.
im applying for the fall semester next year. i dont meet the requirements for the biology prereq (i had a 84 average. min average to get in is 85) my question is, has anyone who hasnt met the requirements still get into the program (or any program in general) or did yall have to work something else out
Is anyone taking the online version of this class with Lauren Kozakiewicz? How is it? Her reviews on ratemyprofessor don’t seem too good…
I am trying to decide if I should register for the online session with her or the in-person with Christopher Pastore.
I plan on transferring out second semester and don’t know what to do with my microfridge. Will the company pick it up?? I have no one to sell it to
I’m noticing a lot of posts commenting about feelings of social isolation and how a lot of clubs feel like cliques.
My idea: Post some of your hobbies/interests below and start a chat with someone who has the same or similar hobbies as you. It’s a bit easier to chat online for some people (trust me, been there done that.)
Thoughts?
Can’t find an answer online and someone js told me 5 and there’s no way that’s true cuz there’s odee classes after 5pm. And what happens if I’m caught in there after it closes?
& if anyone knows what time the academic building close thatd be great too.
GPA - 89
SAT - not taking until December so possibility of test optional
The problem is all my harder classes are this year, my senior year, none previously. I have an AP and quite a few dual credits
My extracurriculars are not great. I’m art club vice president now and have help raising money. I’ve also been a member since freshman year, and won an art reward. I’m in another club where we do things like cleaning up outdoors. Other than that I was just gonna list things like family responsibilities, tutoring, and other hobbies.
I’ve also visited twice and had a long chat with admissions so i’m hoping that helps my case…
this is in the mohawk towers btw. i live in a single and it's FUCKING FREEZING. i could barely sleep last night due to the temperature and i can't make it any higher. i think the source might be from my windows but its shut completely and the room is still freezing. also apparently we're not allowed to get our own portable heaters so im not sure what i can do to make the situation better. should i contact residential life about this problem or is there barely anything they can do?
Let me preface this by saying yes, this is a burner.
I am a 18 year old FtM transgender freshman. I don't really make that my whole personality, and would say I don't get clocked often, however I do dress "emo" and have facial piercings, long hair etc. My time so far at UAlbany has not been great. Everyone seems very clicky, I haven't been able to make a solid friendship with anyone. Greek life is not my priority, and I have not been to Hudson. The classes seem fine, I enjoy my professors a decent amount, but any club or gathering I've been too I feel like I am met with hostility. I often keep my headphones on in the Dining Hall, and overhear people making fun of me directly behind my back. I tried going to the GSRC during one of their "late night" meetings, and it was loud and clicky and impossible to meet new people. I also went to a club that I won't name because it will make it very obvious who I am, but the people there treated me like a "poser" and very clearly looked down upon me. It didn't help that they all knew everyone else in the relatively small club meeting. I will probably be living on campus for all of the years here due to my financial situation, and recently reached out to some professors, so part of me wants to stay here due to the academic opportunities, but the people here are really weighing down my experience. Is this the greater fault of our generation, is every college like this, or should I consider transferring?
My accounts been negative since early September, no refunds have been given. They aren't waiting on anything from me, financial aid just says "your aid has been applied" and closes my tickets. .Stopping by isn't an option for me.
Hey guys, I plan on coming this spring from Ulster County Community College as a sophomore math major! My college has no social life AT ALL and is so boring, I'm such a social person so I'm really nervous about such a big shift. I've heard a lot about UA being cliquey and having high school energy. I have the option of living on campus or off campus but I'm leaning towards on campus because I'm scared of not making friends. But I'm a little poor so off campus is seeming like the better option. Anyways, ideas? Opinions? ALSO if anyone wants to be friends I LUV going out, meeting people, video games, shopping, cooking, eating, and literally a thousand other things. I'm so fun I SWEAR.
I was offered a 2500$ scholarship when I applied for fall, but I had to defer my application. Now that I'm transferring in spring, what are my chances of getting a scholarship? On the website, it says that scholarships are for fall 2025 transfers.
hi! i am a transfer in this semester and have been commuting but am hoping to live on campus next semester. i am a sophomore and put freedom double as my first preference, standard double as my second and freedom efficacy as my third. i assume housing is random? do I have good odds of being put in any of these? i honestly want to be anywhere but alumni haha.
Here are my stats:
GPA: 89
Weighted GPA: 90.54
SAT: Going test optional
That's all from the last year 3 years, senior year is a bigger push so it might slightly go up.
8 AP's by the end of senior year (never went higher than 3's for the 3 out of my 6 AP exams and the rest I'll refuse to send to applications, but my AP class grades on my transcript are a mix of A's and B's
16 Honors courses by the end of the year
2 college prep courses at a local college near my HS
I have 70 ish key club hours from HS
78 hours volunteer tutoring at a local library
50+ hours political canvassing and phone banking for a federal level campaign
I wrote like 1 news article in my school
Had 2 summer jobs for the last 2 summers, 1 for each.
Already visited the campus, so I don't know if that checks off any demonstrated interest. I'm also mentioning a specific alumnus I spoke to when learning about ua in my application.
Applying undeclared, regular decision.
Will I be fine? I keep hearing how its easy for a lot of people to get into this school.
For those of you who have Graduated.. What year was it?
Me- 2011 (just a lil old, lmao)
Your turn!
