For things like ARCH do student receive assistance in finding internships or co-ops? Do things like career services at RPI actually help you find a job etc?
Hi! I'm thinking of ED2'ing to RPI. I was rejected ED1 from UChicago. My stats are:
Do you think that my GPA will cause me to be instantly filtered out, or will my high level of course rigor and SAT compensate for that?
How good is the RPI math major. Do RPI math majors have strong placement into competitive jobs and graduate schools?
Thank you for your help.
Did aero undergrad and graduated a semester early and I just finished coterm so here’s my honest review. RPI is a solid 8.5/10 overall. Made some really good memories here and have long lasting relationships because of RPI. I took away 1.5 points because I was a freshman 2020 and we were in prison essentially and it made freshman/sophomore year a bit harder academically and socially.
I don’t think people talk enough about how much they like RPI. The professors here (for the most part) are really wonderful and the community overall is great. I’m also from rural NH so moving to Troy was a big change and I liked being able to go out to eat and bars and just not live in a food desert anymore. There’s so much to do in the Capitol region.
Enjoy your time here because it goes by so fast and even though I probably complained a lot during my time here I actually sort of miss it.
TLDR: 8.5/10
Hello,
I was hoping to get a poster printed (ideally before Christmas but no later than January 3rd). Does anyone know off-hand what the hours for VCC will be over the break? I’d like to avoid a trip to Staples if possible.
Thanks!
Planning on transferring for next fall I was wondering if anyone in the civil program and give me some tips to survive the major at rpi
Hello, I am currently looking to sublease my room in my apartment. My apartment is located on Congress Street and is about a 7-10 minute walk to campus. The rent and full utilities are covered for 650 a month. 4 other male roommates currently live there. There is a sizable kitchen and living room with two bathrooms which has been more than enough space for the five of us with an in-unit washer and dryer. DM me for more details if you are interested.
I'm a senior graduating next semester (Spring 2025). I only have two required courses left to graduate, but wanted to ask if it's worth retaking older classes. For example, I'm thinking of retaking CS1 since I didn't know how to code back then and didn't do so well.
Is there a downside to retaking freshmen-sophomore level classes to boost GPA a bit? Thank you.
Hello! I hope this doesn't come off as offensive, but I'm a bit hesitant to join RSEI primarily due to their history with a sexual assault incident around 2018. A decent amount of my friends/peers are a part of it now and seem to like it a ton, however, showing that it's changing for the overall better. The networking seems like a huge plus for some of my personal goals as well. I'm just worried about joining fraternity culture in general due to these incidents that can happen, but I also want to find cheaper housing as I enter into my last two years of undergrad when I embark off campus. I'm already involved in a decent amount of campus activities such as ASCE and Engineering Ambassadors that take up a good chunk of my time, so I'm not sure if this is the right move right now. I'm also considering becoming an RA to reduce housing costs for my last two years, but that is a big responsibility itself.
What are your overall thoughts on RSEI/Frat culture? Is this something I should look into for Spring 2025?
I'm on the fence about joining Greek Life and want to hear everyone's experiences. Of course I'll rush them all and see for myself but want to know what everyone has to say.
Hello everyone, I just took my physics final and it went... not well. I studied harder than I ever did for a week straight but when it came to the test I did very, very poorly. Because of that along with just not doing well the entire semester, I ended up with a D in the class and it sunk my gpa pretty heavily. I'm pretty worried about my standing right now, and if I have what it takes to keep going. Next semester will be even harder (DS1, Chemistry, Calc II, Computer Components, Songwriting, Aeronautical sciences), and if I couldn't pull together a 3.0 this semester I don't know if I can handle next. What should I do?
Has anyone else from the May 2024 graduating class not received their diploma yet? I graduated this past spring but still haven't gotten mine in the mail. I'm wondering if this is a common experience or if I should contact the registrar's office. If you've received yours, how long did it take to arrive?
Any insights or advice would be appreciated!
Hello everyone. I was wondering if there is any archive type of website that has a collection of the course materials from previous years. I am a MANE major, anything in general or specific for MANE?
This guy has got to be one of the laziest professors here. The class is graded on just 4 tests, no homework no nothing. By the time we get to the fourth test, he still has not graded the third. The final is optional if you have an average of 90 (an A for that course) so it's kind of important to know your grades for those tests soon.
He teaches the content so slow that we didn't even get to what we were supposed to for test 4. By the time it came, he completely threw us under the bus with something we were not prepared for. He told us one thing then changed the test the day of. The amount of time given for what he expected us to do was insane. Idk what he was thinking. Anyways since I am an out of state student, I had a flight planned assuming I wouldn't have to stay for the final. I communicated this to him and asked if he could let me know what my grade is before in case I would have to change the flight. He lied about getting back to me then sent an email the next day saying the final will be online - wow thanks for stressing me out for a whole day, could've said something way earlier.
We have been waiting over a week since the fourth test to get our grades and know if we have to take the final. Which is TOMORROW. It's just insanity at this point idk if he's ever going to release our grades 💀
UPDATE: he sent out an email this morning telling us if we got an A or have to take it. This class has been so frustrating. Another thing is he never put our grades on LMS, he literally emailed us the score for each test it's so weird. And he doesn't give any feedback.
1-2 rooms in an apartment downtown that is recently renovated. 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, comes with washer and dryer and you would be living with other RPI students.
4-minute drive from campus, 15-minute walk, with street parking. $700 a month for rent, plus an extra $80 for WiFi and utilities. The lease is from January 1- June 1 2025, but I could accommodate an earlier move-in if needed. The place is very nice and has a modern feel to it.
Message me if you are interested for more details!

Has anyone taken Critical Thinking recently with Milanese and Bram? How was the class in terms of quizzes and HW? Is an A easy to obtain with some effort? Also if anyone has the syllabus for this class it would be highly appreciated.
Hi everyone,
This is my first semester in RPI.
Recently in one of my courses I got a C+(2.33), I know that's not ok! I tried my best in the last exam, I am confident I should around 90% in that one. Although I did terribly in the other one, I couldn't. I completed all the HWs and attended every class.
In the other course, I would get around B+/A-. No less than B+.
My concern is, will my fund get terminated for my cgpa (below 3.00)? or will this decision be made after the spring semester? (considering annual cgpa)
What are some of the easier classes that you’ve take for your technical elective, and what grade did you get?
Hey all!
I ended up in on-campus this year mostly because I wasn’t sure if I was coming back or not so didn’t want to spring for a full year lease and then not be able to get out of it.
Going into my fourth year of architecture, I’d like to be able to live somewhere off campus for the entirety of the next academic year(Fall25-Spring26), but don’t really know where to start. Anyone have any recommendations of either specific places, or maybe websites to look at? My big thing is a preference, but not complete necessity, to live by myself. Thanks!
Just suffered a severe neck injury, to the point where looking down at a table with a question paper on it seems very difficult to do. First final is tomorrow, is there anyway I can get some sort of accommodation? If so who do I speak to? Thanks
Hi just wondering if anyone has an idea when we should receive admission decisions for PhD programs
Anyone have the physics 1 Final for spring 24 or fall 22?
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also what’s the best freshman dorm (with heat and AC)? I was told I should probably find that out and submit a request for that one asap.
Anyone have Structures 1 Final back exam?
