I saw a post on this topic from a few years ago, but was wondering if anyone had more up to date insight on both the courses and the professors (Radev and Nirenburg, respectively). Also wondering about IVA with Si.
Hello all,
I participate in a BOINC project called Milkyway@home. The web SSL cert for this project needs to be renewed soon. Right now users can access this BOINC project or its message board at milkyway.cs.rpi.edu
There is some discussion on r/BOINC here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BOINC/comments/1ghes9g/httpsmilkywaycsrpiedu_ssl_cert_has_expired_as_of/

Hello, I am new to RPI and I was just wondering if there were any part time jobs to apply around here. I know that dining hall is always an option, but I am clueless in where to apply (sorry if its obvious) and if they are still accepting applications this late into the semester. I would also like to know if there are any good part time jobs outside of campus, such as if that Walmart is hiring. I am running a bit low on cash as of now.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi everyone! I am looking for a male roommate to take the lease of one of the rooms in a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment from December/January. The lease is till July 31, 2025.
Feel free to DM for further details.
I'm considering going to RPI (specifically for CS) and I've read some very positive things and very negative things. Specifically a lot of people a few years back complained about the overall administration at the college. I've also heard that the administration is improving the interim but most of the posts I can find are a couple years old at least. Can anyone speak to how much the admin and other negative qualities of RPI have improved since the late 2010s/early 2020s?
Is stevenson a good diff eq teacher? I was looking on rmp and people seem to either like him or hate him so I'm torn. Kam seems to be the more loved professor but her class conflicts with some of my others. Also, does diff eq have quizzes during recitations like the other math classes? Or does that depend on the teacher?
I found out that the chatbot is sending messages to my mom instead of me. Does anyone know how I can have her number removed and add mine instead cause I don't want her knowing everything that happens.
Hi everyone! Me and my partner are looking for a sublet for the spring semester and/or over the summer! We can share one room and everything so space isn’t really an issue, let us know if you’re looking for a subletter!
My roommate asked me how much I weigh and I have no idea and that's probably not good. Does anyone know where I can weigh myself?
I’m new to RPI as a MANE grad student and am adjusting to course enrollment here. I‘m interested in taking MANE 6800 but cant seem to find any information about the class besides just a short sentence. Has anyone taken it that could give me some insight?

Hello! As a senior graduating highschool in 2025 and going into the School of Architecture @ RPI next fall, what is my best option for a laptop? Is it better to get one through the school or should I bring my own? If the latter, what is the best option for me?
I read this excerpt from an article regarding RVP getting affiliation:
During the discussion of the proposal, which members of RVP were not present for, claims of antisemitism through club social media were brought to the members of the Executive Board. Following this, the meeting was closed to the public, with RVP called back in once for further discussion. In public discussion, E-Board members brought up that, while moderating hateful comments in online spaces is a problem that should be brought to the attention of the Institute as a whole, the E-Board neither can nor should be responsible for enforcement. Moreover, the club had no plans for affiliation with any national organizations. The meeting was closed again for another discussion, after which the motion was approved.
The article isn't really clear what the issue was. Was the club itself being antisemitic on social media, or were unaffiliated users leaving antisemitic comments that were associated with the club? I'd appreciate it if someone with knowledge on this would clarify, because I'm planning on going to their screening of Israelism but I'd rather not associate with them if they actually are antisemitic.

Hello! I am applying for RPI's bs/md program and I was hoping if someone would be willing to share their "Why RPI" essay for examples. I am struggling to write this one but it is the last one I have left. Please let me know! :) Thanks
I need to take a computational elective next semester and it looks like my only two options are MANE 4240 - Finite Element Method and MANE 4140 - Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics. I think taking FEM would be more useful for me, but I also heard it was recently merged with the graduate level version and has become pretty difficult on the theory side. Would anyone currently in Computational Fluid Dynamics let me know how the class is in terms of difficulty?
Me and my partner are looking for a sublet for spring semester and/or summer, please let me know if youre looking for anyone to sublet

Hey everyone, I'm a student trying to sublet a single room in a 3-bedroom apartment in City Station South, currently occupied by two other male RPI students. Their website has various pictures and more details about amenities and this particular apartment follows the Furnished 3 Bed/1 Bath layout. Comes with in-unit laundry, dishwasher, central a/c, free gated parking and more. The room has access to the internet through both wi-fi and a wired connection.
The sublet is available for the spring semester starting in January but the exact date can be flexible (late December is OK if needed). Rent is typically $955.00/mo but I'm looking to sublet for $850.00/mo. Please message me here on reddit if you're interested or want more info!
I desperately need the advanced cell biology (by Dr Forth) notes if any of you have them!! Even the previous years notes work!!
