This is a subreddit meant to provide a place to post specific hikes/routes and to discuss them.
6/2/14 update: Request posts are ok!
Please add flair after you submit your post so we know the preferred sport for that location
Posts in this subreddit should discuss specific hikes/routes that include enough information for anyone to visit that location. The starting location/trailhead is a must, additional information including pictures, GPS routes, maps, general distance and difficulty information are a bonus.
You can plot your coordinates using an app on your phone such as mapmyrun or runkeeper to provide your exact trail loc!

Me and my partner has been doing long-distance hikes for a while now, like Haute Route, Alta via 1, etc, and we always missed a place where we could put together all the information and content we produce from our hikes, where we could mix editorial content (photos, videos, text) with interactive elements (maps, chart).
So we've been working on this platform, designed and coded by us, where we have all these features we wish the existing tools would have.
I'd like to share with the hiking community and ask for some feedbacks now. We put a lot of work on it and would love to hear from you if you find it useful or miss anything that would be helpful when planning your next hike.

So I’m looking for an app that will record my hiking trail. It’s on private property so there’s no trail map online. I also want it to record the elevation changes. Is there any app like that?
So this is kinda urgent, I've read about 3 days of Alta via 1 and suddenly remembered I need to return from Refugio Lagazuoi back to the car at lago di Brais. From Google maps I didn't find any way, does anyone know how? Thanks!
Hi,
kind of a noob question. where can I access maps without all the bloatware? or at least a free app?
I went up the Crawford Path to hit a couple of New Hampshire's 4000 footers. A surprisingly easy ascent for the White Mountains
I filmed this video two years ago and only published this last month when I did one of the most interesting walks at Lysterfield Lake Park which is called "Granite Peak Track". You Can start walking from the Lysterfield Lake Cark Park, across the dam wall and it's finding Tramline track also known as Granite Peak Track.
The walk really starts from a tram trolley cart as seen in the YouTube thumbnail. It's like 6 km walk from that trolley cart to Trig's point also known as Lysterfield Look Out giving you a panoramic view of Melbourne, Port Philip Bay, Mornington Peninsula and the Dandenong Ranges at the one spot.

Planning on this hike over Labor Day weekend, already have my reservation for August 31.
Am I likely to encounter ankle plus deepwater ?
I'm going to be with my two kids six and nine , and just want to make sure I don't need to bring water socks? Cannot soak the hiking , it is day, one of the long trip.
Any Advice?
Thanks in advance!
I hiked the Mt Willard Trail and Mt Avalon Trail in New Hampshire. They both started at the Crawford Depot which is right next to the AMC Highland Center. Two relatively easy trails that both had amazing views at the top!
