Photos featuring the deadliest members of the Mineral kingdom.
Photos of the deadliest members of the Mineral kingdom. Share a photo of your favorite carcinogenic / radioactive / teratogenic / TOXIC rocks!
This sub is a celebration of the more prickly members of the mineral kingdom, with an emphasis on high-quality photographs. While Paracelsus's Rule applies to just about every chemical compound in existence, some rocks are just a head and shoulders above in the Unhealthy Department.
So bring out your Lead, Mercury, Arsenic, and Uranium minerals and (carefully) snag some nice photos of nature's deadly beauty!
•WARNING• These minerals are known to present a danger to human health, and must be treated with respect. While most of them are quite inert unless ingested, be aware that some specimens present special hazards like radioactivity or generation of toxic dust. Educate yourself on these dangers, and please collect responsibly.
For basic safety, you should: minimize specimen handling, wash hands after touching, keep out of reach of children, avoid exposure to women who may be pregnant, and label potentially hazardous specimens clearly.
