Not the best but next time I’ll hit the North Slope a bit closer
I love Lake Superior Agates. Anyone else here just open your case and stare at yours rocks? Just me? OK. 😅🤣
I did a lot of DIY landscaping this summer and thanks to the shine from the rain, found this beauty. (Anchorage, AK).
Since my country doesn't bear any good spots for rockhounding I wanted to travel to the closest area that does have some good stuff to find. I'm planning a trip to Austria Habachtal at the moment to hike up into the Alps reaching the Leckbachrinne to search for beryll variants (emeralds and aquamarine most likely).
I couldn't find many resources about these areas other than a few old videos and one post showing off some findings from over a year ago, so I hope that someone hear has some experience from that area!
What is the best was to climb up, what time do I have to consider for the hike up to the area? Is deep digging required? Should I go early after the snow melted or later in the year?
Thanks in advance!
I give some of my lower quality specimens to my trick or treeters. This year I handed them out to 41 kids and 3 adults.
Highlights Theere was a very shy little girl who didn't want to come over for candy, but she did come over for crystals.
One boy thought I was "the best house ever" because I was handing out fossils. He was a repeat from last year who specially sought out my house.
The one adult I gave a crystal to yelling down the road "I GOT QUARTZ!"
So im trying to build a black box for uv minerals in one of my display cabinets but i dont know anything about uv lights. Any suggestions on what light i should get?
I’ve never been super into rocks but I found this one and it really made me happy. I feel like I just started a ‘rocks with holes’ collection.
Lake Superior Agate - Floater, bright white bands
I visited the Colorado State Capitol and fell in love with the rose onyx! It’s the only place I. The world that has it, which is a bummer. I would love to have something that looks like it though!
