Best stone to get into the business?

Hi, how is everyone doing? I'm looking to get into the gemstone business and I was wondering if I could have some help from this wonderful community. I want to know what I should start out with. What types of stones (coloured, diamonds, etc), and other stuff.

I somebody here is in the industry or has a lot of knowledge, please feel free to share every idea is very much appreciated.

In conclusion, what should I do to start off? What kinds of stones should I buy? And any other information you feel is important for me to know.

Thank you very much for the time

Noob question of the night

It is intimidating starting out. How did you more experienced collectors winnow down what you collect? Do you limit yourself to certain families, locations, colors, or what? Right now I'm still in the all the pretty rocks phase, but I can see how that can get out of hand. I had rather have fewer but nicer specimens. All advice appreciated. Thanks to everyone posting your beautiful pictures; they are very inspirational.

Any sources for information on crystal collecting?

I'm new to the hobby , and I'm trying to find information about crystal formation etc. ideally I'd like to go on hikes and find my own veins and spots. I've tried to DM some crystal collectors in my area ( I live in central Greece) and asked for help but nobody ever replied to me :( I've watched a ton of YouTube and read forums but I want a scientific source. If any of you guys can share some info ( books, sites etc ) id appreciate it. I want to gain experience but I know I need to do my homework even before i leave the house.

Help what is this random rock I found

Found those while walking alongside a railroad track. The shiny flecks caught my eye. Can anyone help me identify/understand what this rock is?
