Stargazing Near Austin

I'm planning a trip to Austin in a couple weeks and want to take a day to drive out of the city to an area where I might be able to see the stars with no light pollution. Looks like I'll have to go around 2-3hrs west/NW for the best spots. I was looking at Lost Maples State Natural Area because I would like to do some hiking or sightseeing for a few hours before it gets dark. Is this a good spot? Any other suggestions or advice for the best view of the galaxy with the naked eye?

How would you rank the mountains of Texas that can be hiked to the summit? Thanks in advance.

I did Guadalupe Peaks last year and I got some time coming up and I was gonna go back but I thought I should ask first. Looking for a challenge and a view.

Do you need to do anything before buying a fishing license?

Title says it all, do I need to take a class or anything of the sort to buy a fishing license? I’ve been on the TP&W website and it looks like I can just buy a year from license without having to do anything else, I’ve only ever been a hunter but my buddy bought me a pole and some tackle so I figured I’d give fishing a shot, thanks in advance

What are some amazing Hiking/Nature Trails in your area of the state you'd recommend anyone to visit?

Fiance and I live in the San Antonio area and have done traveling over the years and finding a nice trail has always been on the itinerary but never the first thing. This year we want to travel within Texas specifically for hiking trails and scenery.

TlDR: Want to travel within Texas this year to great trails.

I love rocks and avoid scree fields and trails that require climbing over and under boulders. That's why I took right to these Texas trails. Here, you can wander through fields of gneiss laced with quartzite. [Lake and Woodland Trails, Inks Lake State Park, Burnet, Texas]
