Are there anybody among common people in Syria who sincerely support Assad dynasty?

Hello, I'm from Russia and I know what is it to live in an authocracy controlled country with a strong cult of personality, so to me Syrians are somewhat my brothers and sisters in misfortune (I apologise if you have any grudge against Russians for anything my country did to you, I know it's not much coming from a single person, but it's the least I can do). So, I've been reading about Assad's propaganda for a while, and I cannot but ask, are there anyone who trust Bashar, who believe his speeches and support him?

I mean, in Russia there are a lot of people who went into "inner immigration", which means avoiding any contact with the government and trying to pretend that we are not where we are now. Some others nod in public and then commit doublethink by criticising the regime behind closed doors. Hell, even I am a little bit scared while I'm typing this post, and that's why I'm avoiding mentioning you-know-who. But I've seen enough people here who agree wholeheartedly with our propaganda, who even retranslate it (irl, or course).

Considering my personal experience, I might think that in Syria things may be similar, but then again, in Russia we don't have CIVIL war. I mean yeah, there's Ukraine, but Russia is big, people on Sakhalin might not even take it seriously, like come on, thousands of kilometres away. At least, there's an illusion of normal life in our society, no matter how fake it may be in reality, so it may be a key factor for us to believe more willingly to what our mass media says.

So, are there any loyalists among common people? Maybe the elderly? Or maybe kids? Maybe you have encountered some of Bashar's fanboys or fangirls irl?

About Scholarships

Hey everyone,

First I hope that everyone and their families are safe amidst what is going on in Syria! I hope everything becomes better soon.

I have a question, I am applying for graduate scholarships abroad (UK and such) and I have dual citizenship (Syrian and Turkish). I have heard that I present a better case saying I am Syrian than Turkish, does it matter and does anyone have experience or information about this?

Thank you all!

Responsibilities of the people of Aleppo

I guess we all know that the situation in Syria was so bad that everyone has a plan to travel anywhere and a lot of of Syrian people (me till last Friday) are afraid from the HST and other forces that entered Aleppo. I guess we should spread the truth about these guys among other people, we all know and sufferes from Asad, we need to get Syria back before he destroyed it again, we need to be one people again. I had a memory since 3 years where I was telling my friends we must leave, it is not ours. now we should get it all back, thanks for these guys who didn't give up like me and many others. P.S I know many of u are afraid of the Asad but atleast we should spread the good news between our own people

So confusing

I would like to hear from the Syrian people. Do you support the rebels or bashar? Support doesn’t mean you agree with everything, but you would rather see them in control.

As for the rebels it’s pretty confusing who they are and what they consist of. Reports suggest julani and hts are the head of the rebels but there are other groups amongst them. I know they broke off from Al qaeda and Isis and are more moderate now (perhaps same level as Hamas now). Either way do y supports hts? Also not sure who is funding them. Some suggest turkey, USA.

Lastly how do the Kurds fit into this? Do they care about Aleppo, Damascus or do they just care about the Kurdish territories in Syria.

The people of Aleppo are really happy to have the Free Syrian Army with them. Men, women, and everyone there have total freedom when it comes to religion and what they wear, and no one bothers anyone.

My Armenian friend's update on the Aleppo situation

Hello everyone, I talked to my Armenian friend in Aleppo again, as anyone whose seen me here knows I really want us to get the truth about this move considering all the propaganda going around and I think the best source comes from people directly there, especially minorities; so here is what she told me:

Okay so the first thing she told me is so far she hasn't seen, heard, or experienced anything bad from the opposition. They have allowed them to do their celebrations and everything so far has went well. She said many churches paused their activities for now until the future is more certain and they hear more official announcements from the groups there, but the ones that continued and did prayers had no issues at all.

I also asked her about life there and she said there is still fear of the unknown and uncertainty but nothing bad happened yet. She said they stopped hearing clashes like they did before in her area but sometimes they see things flying in the air (drones or planes she doesn't know), but there is no sounds of shootings or bombings or anything like that in her area anymore (she did hear firing before when the move first started).

She did say since the factories paused their work, there is a lack of produce but not the basic foods like meats and vegetables just things that need factories like yogurts and such. She noticed some Turkish products on the shelves that she didn't see before which scares her a little from the idea of turkey increasing its influence but it might just be brought in due to the shortage.

One last thing she said is that there is talks among people that there might be a new currency or they might start using the dollar, but again she said this is just talk nothing official happened, she just heard it from some people.

What is people's opinion on The Syrian National coalition (SNC)?

What is your opinion on them should they take charge of the country as an interim government till a new government can get elected?

Or do you think that the rebel armies such as HTS should be free to set up what ever type of Islamic government they want?

Battle for the coast

As an outsider, I wonder why rebels never made advancing west and fighting to take over the coast a priority. It seems there is little point fighting the regime if it has a near infinite ammo and aerial support glitch from the Russian coastal bases (I know this is an exaggeration).

Are they worried they’d piss off Russia who would fight (more) ruthlessly? Are they hoping Damascus would be faster and easier to reach? Is it because of local support for Assad in those areas?

Just looking for some prespective

Were people forced out?

I recently saw some videos and heard about people returning to their homes in Aleppo, were they not allowed to go to their homes when al assad controlled the area?

Im not necessarily talking about fighters but i've seen people from refugee camps returning to their homes and it's just really odd to me??

Soon Peace will come.

From Africa

Aleppo → Hama → Homs→ Damascus (insaAllah). I have always pray for my brothers in syria to become peaceful. I also learned Bilāl ibn Rabāḥ retired in Damascus after he left Medina. May the land of Syria be blessed from now on.
