Syria's opposition TV obtained an audio recording from a deceived Syrian who fell victim to Russian forces and the Syrian regime. In the recording, the man urges everyone not to accept any job offer related to Russia or the Syrian regime. He mentions the name of a person, "Waseem al-Dimashqi" a pro Assad membr and primary figure responsible for the entire fraudulent operation.

The man in the recording states that the Syrian regime exploits the extreme poverty Syrians experience under Assad's rule. They are offered jobs in Russia as guards for gold mines, with monthly salaries of up to $2000, promises of Russian citizenship, and various benefits. Many rush to join, and they are transported to the Russian-operated Hmeimim Airport in Latakia, then to Yakutsk .
There, they sign contracts in Russian without translators or Arabic copies. Once the "employees" sign the contracts, they are flown two hours to Ulan-Ude an area controlled by a Russian tank battalion. There, they are trained in weapons use, forced shooting, and threats with weapons.
In the recording, the tired-sounding person says, "They forced us to shoot at the shooting range today, and they say they will deploy us on the front lines in Ukraine. We don't want to fight against the Ukrainians; we don't want war and don't want to be part of this conflict. We just wanted a normal job. They deceived us. Beware of dealing with them. We've been sold literally to the Russian army as slaves and mercenaries."
According to the man in the recording, the person responsible for the entire operation is an intelligence officer affiliated with the Syrian regime named : Akram Deep Taraf - أكرم ديب طراف
Suwayda 24 obtained a video from inside one of the recruitment centers of the Russian army in Moscow. The video shows a group of Syrians who are soldiers, officers, and supporters of the Assad regime, receiving the Russian military uniforms before being sent to military sites near the Ukrainian border.
Last week, Suwayda 24 revealed in a special investigation the operation of flights from Latakia to Moscow, carrying dozens of Syrians from various provinces, including some from Suwayda. They had signed recruitment contracts facilitated by recruiters working with security companies.
Upon arrival in Russia, the Syrians obtained Russian passports, granting them Russian citizenship. They underwent training courses on weapon usage in camps affiliated with the Russian army, accompanied by basic Russian language courses.
One of the joiners of the Russian army, in contact with Suwayda 24, mentioned seeing individuals from various nationalities joining the Russian army, including those from Arab countries, Afghanistan, India, and other nations.
Meanwhile another Syrian individual informed Suwayda 24 that his brother, who traveled to Russia a month ago, is currently near the Russian-Ukrainian border within deployment points for the Russian army. He added, 'My brother communicates with us daily, and what motivated him to travel was the deteriorating economic situation, not a desire to engage in combat.'
And according to Suwayda 24 sources, hundreds of Syrians are preparing to travel to Russia in the coming period, with an interest in registering their names through recruiters. This marks the first time Suwayda 24 has documented such activities.
The aspiring traveler must not be wanted for service in Syria or be a government employee. The volunteer needs permission to travel from the conscription department, along with an unofficial paper and personal documents. However, this process is not without some individuals falling victim to financial scams by people claiming to be recruiters for the Russians.
Despite numerous reports of Russia recruiting Syrians to fight in the war in Ukraine, this is the first time that Sweida 24 has documented dozens of Syrians traveling to Russia and obtaining Russian citizenship since the start of the conflict there. It appears that granting citizenship is a preemptive move by Russia to avoid charges of recruiting mercenaries within its ranks in case these fighters are killed or captured.
These data indicate that Russia has opened the recruitment door wide amid its ongoing war for more than two years in Ukraine, which has inflicted significant material and human losses on both countries.
