Pretty basic question if anyone can help would be greatly appreciated. Not looking for anything in specific just have a small tv with small sound needs an upgrade.
Without any problems?
I’m debating between 990D for $1400 CAD or the 900c for $1000 CAD. I’m not able to setup rears in living room and apparently the bar & woofer are otherwise the same.
Main difference I hear is HDMI 2.1.
I would be connecting it to an LG C1 which I believe has a few HDMI 2.1 inputs for a PS5. For my situation does this feature matter on the 990D?
So, I got a JBL soundbar. And it sounds great when given proper Atmos content. However, stereo content sounded terrible. I was about to return it until I found some old threads here on r/Soundbars mentioning the "secret" Smart Mode. Turns out, Smart Mode is doing some processing that messed up podcasts and music.
Unfortunately, JBL forces Smart Mode back on every time the bar goes into standby mode, and there's no documented workaround. Until now!
Looking around the source code for the Android app, I found a reference to a "surround" command that wasn't mapped to any button in the UI. And guess what... it toggles Smart Mode! So to make sure Smart Mode stays off, just send curl -v https://[ip-of-your-soundbar]/httpapi.asp --data
'command=sendAppController&payload={"key_pressed": "surround"}' --insecure --cert Cert.pem --key Key.pem
every time the soundbar starts (Cert and Key are in the GitHub repo linked below).
For convenience, I've added this command to MrBearPresident's Home Assistant JBL soundbar integration: https://github.com/MrBearPresident/JBL_Soundbar/pull/6. This way, you can easily set up an automation to trigger the command whenever your TV turns on.
I have a record player and it would be very convenient if I could plug it directly in my new soundbar. Any idea of something decent but not crazy pricey? Thanks!
So a friend got 3 HW-Q930C's from auction and all exhibited the same behavior. When you plug it in/turn it on it will boot up to TV eARC scrolling on the display but nothing else seems to work.
The top buttons do nothing and I cannot reset it from holding the vol up/down buttons at the same time.
The remote also does nothing, though can initiate test tones (no sound comes out) and ID Set but it doesn't pair with the speakers.
Its not in shop mode and I can go into the menu and enable and then disable shop modes 3 through 6, modes 1 and 2 are not available.
I also cannot update it from usb, tried two that are formatted to fat32 with an MBR boot partition, neither drive works but I get no indication it picks up a usb at all, no other data warning if I try a different usb, which makes me believe its not checking the usb port at all.
It seems like the bar is locked down or set to not respond to either remote or button inputs. I'd think it was bricked at this point or a serious error but my friend was able to recover one but he is not sure what actually did it as he was messing with it before bed, then left it and when he came back to it the next day the mic mute button was lit up and the bar seems to work normally.
Any ideas or things to try?
Hi guys!
I'm based in the Netherlands and want to buy a soundbar (only want the bar, no external subwoofer.)
I dont want to spend too much money on it, so I'm happy to take some compromises. I want to use the bar on my TV, so I will have better a sound experience while watching movies/gaming..
Which models would you recommend?
I'm buying my first soundbar and after some looking I've decided on the SAMSUNG HW-B650. Before I make this purchase, I need to know if this can be compatible with my ps5 and whether it can be connected right out of the box. Thanks ^^
Hello, first time posting on reddit. I don't know much about soundsystems, but I wondered if you guys could help? I have a Samsung hwc-460 soundbar and wonders if it would be a good upgrade to buy the SWA-9200S speakers for more sound. Would this make it 4.1 soundsystem?
Hi,
The samsung t4 has lost connection to the subwoofer. I dont have the remote for the device. what can I do?
Hi I was going to buy a siundbar on visions.ca theb noticed they offer protection plans and if you don't use it they refund you pre tax in store credits. Any of you think it's worth it?
Hey,
I have this TV floor stand and would like to add a soundbar, what options do i have? Is there some kind of clamp i can use.
Hello. I have a Samsung soundbar that is currently working fine through optical audio port. There is however an intermittent issue with Netflix sometimes. The sound disappears. Then after rewinding stream it comes back on again. No restarts necessary.
It’s not something that’s unusable but it’s mildly frustrating sometimes.
The soundbar also supports hdmi arc and I wonder if arc can be used one way as an audio output from the tv? Or can it be only used as a pass through from another stream device like dvd player or a tv box?
Current setup has nothing, it’s an android tv and we use apps directly on the tv only.
Thanks in advance
I just bought JBL 300 for 170$. Do you guys think it's a good deal? And anyone use this soundbar? Is it good
What’s the difference between the setting in Woofer and the bass setting in Equalizer?
Hey all, I just got a lg b4 65 inch and a Samsung q990d all in for 3100 cad including best buy 5 year protection..it seemed like a good deal when I got it..
Later on I read that the q990c is almost similar and was 300 dollars cheaper and best buy warranties are useless..I would have saved close to 600 dollars had I gone for the q990c and not taken the best buy protection. What do you think
Hi all,
An acquaintance has bought a new tv earlier this week, and the tv does not have a optical in port.
The soundbar only has a USB A port and optical port. Unfortunately there's no way to use a HDMI cable to use ARC.
Will a USB A from the soundbar to USB A to the tv work for audio?
Thanks in advance :).
I can't find anything that rates as high on rtings for this price.
Hello everyone, first of all thanks to everyone who helped me with my last 2 posts especially in terms of talking me out of the Ultimea sound bars. I now found a great singles day deal for the Samsung HW-600c 3.1.2 Soundbar for under 300€ which I want to combine with the compatible SWA-9200S for a total 5.1.2 setup. İs this combination so good so far? Any experiences?
Apologies for the lack of model numbers but i (once again) need to get new audio for my Tv. This will be the 4th in 3yrs. All of them have had issues making them unusable.
Vizio soundbar+ sub: Dead after 12mo
Samsung + sub: Dead after 24mo
Vizio soundbar + sub + two rear speakers: Dead after 6mo - Audio goes to a fraction of the volume randomly (volume level the same on soundbar but sound is barely audible). Tried every setting combo/reset.
I'm just looking for recommendations for a quality soundbar system that will last. I've been spending in the $300-500 range so if I have to spend more to get something that will last longer, so be it. I have a smallish space so doesn't need to be amazing, but for the love of God please last more than a couple years!
Guys, this is the only possible speaker placement if I were to buy a Q930D (or similar setups). My question is, albeit with the awkward speaker placements, can calibration actually help in sound distribution here?
Any thoughts on how to make it work? Like any brands in the same price range that can make the audio experience adapt?
Hi, I wanna ask you a question thanks. For the q990d connected to lg g4 by hdmi 2.1 so earcc with dolby atmos and all, what's the best settings in app that I should use? My room doesnt allow me to put rear behind couch so they are in front. And sub is currently behind at the right , is it that bad ? Since the rears are in front I should invert them and the left one needs to go to the right of the tv and viceversa? Thanks
It must be durable...last for 5 or more years. 5.1 preferrable My room is around 200square feet, and not very closed. I was thinking about buying sony s20r..but im worried if it will last 5 years.. Pls share yall wisdom with me
I'm wondering if BestBuy.com or in store Best Buy would be willing to price match since it isn't a 3rd party seller.
Would Amazon price match with its own site?
What else can I do/try if I want this specific model?
Hi all! As many of you I’m in a dilemma between Sonos and Samsung. I have a living room that is 4x4 sqm and a sofa that is 2m distance from tv. I can purchase a Samsung Q800D new for 450£ or I would consider buying a Sonos Arc (2nd hand with 1 y warranty for 450£) with a new Sonos sub mini (400£ now maybe lower in Black Friday). We watch mainly movies with Netflix and Apple TV and I cannot have rear speakers, so I need to stick with soundbar and sub. I’m not planning to buy additional pieces in future. I wonder also if Sonos software is better compared to the Samsung app. In the end I plug soundbar with e-arc so I wonder if it matters or not.
What would you do?? THANKS A LOT!
