Samsung Q-Symphony disables when using passthrough HDMI

I hooked up my PC to the Q990D soundbar on a QN90B TV. It's on the eARC port, but when I have HDMI selected on the soundbar, the Q-Symphony option disappears on the TV. Is that supposed to happen, and is there a difference in quality when not using it?

Best soundbar for LG CS tv

Hey all

What's the best HiFi soundbar I can get for my LG tv? I read that e.g. the Samsung Q995D is a superb soundbar, but kinda made for Samsung TV.

Samsung HW-Q990D vs Sonos Arc Ultra + Sub 4 + 2x Era 300, Samsung is 1500$ , Sonos is 2400. Value for money I guess Samsung is better, but overall is there big difference between them? did you have a chance to test both?

I bought Sonos and read many say Samsung may be better, did you have a chance to test both? listening to music is not priority, only for movies. I like Sonos white color as it blends better, but 1K difference is massive.

Does the Sony theatre bar 9 fit under the Bravia 9 65” tv in wide position?

Basically want as much stability for the tv as possible and would prefer if the stand was in wide position, does anyone know if the bar 9 would fit within the feet?

Traded in Sonos Arc + Sub for Q930D Surround and Think I made a Big Mistake. Help?

TLDR: I know next to nothing about AV equipment. Had a Sonos Playbar for Years. Bought a Samsung S90D OLED 77’ last week. Decided to upgrade to Arc with Sub. Bought that. Went home. Set it up. Not bad. But then saw Best Buy has a Samsung Soundbar with a sub + surround for only $999. That kind of setup would be $2500+ on So os and the sound apparently beats Sonos according to reviews like on Rtings. So, I went back again and exchanged the Sonos for the Samsung, and the sound stinks or maybe I’ve set it up wrong?

Last week, l upgraded to a new Samsung S90D 77' OLED. Love it. I figured that if I was already upgrading that I should step up my audio situation. I only know Sonos, so yesterday I went to Best Buy and bought the Arc Ultimate and the Sub 3. No surrounds. That was about $1700 for the two. I set it up and it sounds pretty good. Better than what I was used to, but l'm not much of an audiophile so didn't have a good way of judging. The sound was definitely better after doing the Trueplay test. An hour later, I see on Best Buy that Samsung has a Soundbar for (Black Friday) $999. It's the Samsung Q390D. I didn't think much of it until I saw that it came with a sub as well as two surround speakers and for only $1K? That kind of setup would be $2500+ with Sonos. But more importantly, most of the reviews I read, especially on Rtings give the Samsung much better scores, and that's from last years model. So, it's a no brainer right? So I go and return all the Sonos stuff for the Samsung.

I go home and set everything up. First impressions: Samsung's soundbar doesn't compare as far as aesthetics. The Sonos arc and sub are clean and items like the SUB are good looking enough to be mistaken for furniture. The Samsung doesn't have nearly the build. But whatever, I got it for the sound.

So l fire it up, and I think the sound from the Samsung Soundbar, Sub and surround speakers sound worse, by a lot, to just the Arc + Sub.

I'm not sure how to describe the issues with the sound quality, but the sound seems to come from the Playbar in a straight line pointed at you. You walk to other parts of the room and you lose all its power. And if you walk too far from the TV the sound and dialogue starts to become hard to decipher. The Sub only seems to really kick in during action scenes or music. But then it bangs, where the Sonos sub was more subtle, but also more alive.

Do I need to correct something on the system? I have it In adaptive play. Is there a true tone test like on Sonos? I plugged the Samsung into my TV via HDMI eArc because I have three other external 2.1 devices hooked up to the TV and the soundbar only accepts one extra hami port, but would that even make a difference? I appreciate all your help

Suggestions for LG TV

Hi guys,

I recently bought an LG QNED 86T3A and so far I feel disappointed in the TVs audio quality which is making me consider buying a soundbar.

Sony tv plus bar 9 combo vs Lg plus other?

I’m deciding on which tv to get. The Sony Bravia 8 plus bar 9 I could get for 3300€. However the LG g4 alone I could get for 2300€, leaving 1000€ (or less) for a sound system. I’m a bit of a Sony fan on tvs.

Which would be the better option?

Opinion on Sonos and Samsung systems

Hello all,

I’m torn between Sonos and Samsung soundbars with subs and two surrounds. What I have in mind is a Sonos setup with Arc ultra + sub mini and 2xEra 100 or Samsung HW-Q990D.

The system will be placed in a 20m2 living room that connects to a dining room and kitchen. Primarily I would use it for TV and music.

What are your suggestions and what are your experience with those systems.

Thanks!

Affordable soundbar with good codec support for home cinema

Hi Reddit. I'm looking for a soundbar (around £300 budget) that supports Atmos, DTS MA and X, (if possible also TrueHD). I want to pair this with my OLED TV. Most of my movies are high quality remuxes and they come with DTS audio. I bought a Denon DHT-S517, thiking it was good enough and a good BF deal, but I can't accept the fact that it doesn't support DTS. I'm currently looking at Samsung Q600C which is £269.00 on Amazon UK. What do you think of this one? Any better suggestions. Also, my living room is around 4.2m x 4m.

Q995D vs multibeam 1100 vs sonos beam gen2

Hey, according to price trackers there are some good offers on soundbars in my country now during black weekend or whatever its called. They cost money, or m for short. I'm having trouble deciding between them. So far my top picks are:

q995D - 10 000m

multibeam 1100: 4500m + small kardon sub: 2000m = 6500m

sonos beam gen2 - 3700m (and then maybe buy sub later)

Hows the quality of the soundbar itself on something like 995D compared to multibeam? Because sure q995d comes with more speakers, but with multibeam I can add later. Is it really worth the increased price? Also I'm considering sonos beam, which i keep hearing have amazing voice quality. Better than sonos arc and multibeam. But multibeam have better surround.

Sonos beam gen2 would be the most reasonable pick because it's so cheap, and I don't really spend that much time on TV lately... But then again, I like nice things, so I don't know.

EDIT: Also my tv room is 3x4m. And the door and window design is fucked up, so the tv cant be placed in the middle of the room. It has to stand to the left side pressed up against a wall, which limits the space for side speakers.

The dots are the wall

Advice

I'm in a small apartment and am looking for a soundbar + wireless sub setup. A proper 5.1 setup is sadly out of the question. (space and also "neighbour" wise) The thing on my mind is how stable is the wireless connection? Not sure what kind of protocol these things use but I figure it's not BT.

For reference I'm looking at the Philips TAB7908/10

Any recommendation is appreciated.

Samsung q930d issues

Hi there just bought a samsung q930d in the recent sales, been having a great time with it till I updated the software in the smart things app, first issue I noticed is that the device started showing the hdmi source of sound over and over again fairly annoying but I could live with it, like all new gadgets have been playing around with some of the settings and noticed issues when switching off, the sound bar would re turn on everything for apparently no reason which it was not doing previously, and now I'm in my current situation, the sound bar (exept from being turned off in the smart things app) will not turn off either by the remote or the buttons on the sound bar itself at this point was getting a bit annoyed with what seems to be totally incompetent software on this device currently, so I thought I'll just reset it usually fixes these things right?

Not soo simple the buttons ontop of the device no longer do anything exept the 4th button just telling me mic on mic off, im looking for tips on what to try next, ive tried taking out the power however upon plugging back in it just went back to the same state even with the hdmi cords removed, is there any other way to reset the device or rolling back an update manually to an older version? Completely baffled with the issues considering my brilliant first few days with the device.

Update: After playing with the sources a bit i managed to reset the soundbar through the remove, did it fix my issues? No. Reset the soundbar top buttons still don't work anymore, and i can no longer connect to the smart things app at all, due to needing to press - on the device, any help is greatly appreciated

Update 2: this just keeps getting weirder, so the right most button in tv/ark mode now turns off the sound bar, I also know the buttons still work as a prompt for mute comes up n I press the volume buttons, Idk how I broke the software soo bad but I did somehow

AU Audiophiles: 2ch lifer at entry. HiSense 5.1 $345, 5.1.2 $499 or Kogan 7.1.2 $299?

Initial opinion is a matter of urgency, I'd like as many polls as possible below the text

Please don't vote for the sake of satisfying this sole request. Knowing the difference and how it applies to the topic is vital.

For those needing a touch more info before answering. Could the Kogan 7.1.2 be so bad, as it's financially miles away from the next system, that it would be a genuine mistake to purchase it?

Last thing before we get started, the $200 variance discussed here is alot of money to be spending on myself, let alone adding it on-top of a seemingly similar system.

Whilst appreciating the fact my opinion is uneducated, I still need to be confident in the final choice. I already lost 10% of the initial purchase selling my HN GC's - and that in itself is really damn lucky. So no hate over affordability with just buy the most expensive one dumbass from people. Suffice to say if 5.1.2 is decided, I'll be sourcing it elsewhere!!

Quick one and maybe as simple as it gets today. I just returned my HiSense 5.1.2 to H/N because I paid $500 2wks ago. I'd seen the Kogan after that and was kicking myself that I could've saved $200 if I'd waited. I'd assumed I'd just get the Kogan 7.1.2 for almost half the price, and if it was slightly crappier it wouldn't be a big deal. But it's too good for true style is bugging me - how big of a deal that might be... Will it meet the level of adequate of their claims?

Today things halted when I was review hunting and saw The Good Guys have the same HiSense unit for $344 (except I just found out it was the 5.1ch. This seemed to support my decision to return because I'd overpaid, until writing this post re revealed the slight oversight.

Now it seems like that $200 I was hoping to save is a looong way from $299 and a theoretical tech step backwards... It also hints that maybe a sub-$400 7ch and a $5-600 5ch just aren't comparable because the 7 must be a piece of junk... Right?

The initial purchase & return along with the model/price confusion, has ruined my ability to make a good decision that I'm confident in myself!

I must make it known, 2ch is all I've ever known, a d produced by entry level displays. Hence this isn't something I can figure out in t,he time I have...

So without further ado, please, everyone vote like mad ASAP (I've 3hrs to have completed my purchase! but there's no rush on discussion.

Thanks alot everyone, and prey for me.

Advice for soundbar

Hi, I'm thinking about buying a soundbar but would love some advice! Mostly I want a soundbar just to listen music, streaming from my ps5 or tv. But also for movies and series ofcourse. I just have no experience or idea what to buy and in what price range. Music I listen is hardstyle to classical music, so bass heavy to really fine piano and violin tunes. I appreciate really good sound quality (have €1300 sound system in my car). The living room is pretty big (around 40m2), with a couch in the middle. Sony Bravia KD-65X85KP (2022) against the wall, on an cabinet with some room inside for a subwoofer. I would love to have a soundbar with a subwoofer and maybe 2 extra speakers to place somewhere else. Am I going to be satisfied with a cheaper set, or is it advisable to save up for an expensive one, maybe between the range of €500 and €1200? If I can find one now for max €200 I will buy it next month probably, but I don't know if that is the way to go.

Can you give me some advice please? Maybe some example models or just best brands in this situation. Thank you!

Looking for advice for a gift

Hi all! I'm looking to buy a soundbar for my father for Christmas and I'm trying to take advantage of the holiday sales. I honestly don't know anything about soundbars, and I've gone through several different recommendation lists already, but I've had difficulty finding products that are 1) within my price range (broke uni student, capped at $400), or 2) available on sites like Amazon (I've got gift cards I can use). The room it would be in is pretty small, less than 200sf, so it doesn’t need to be anything fancy or high-powered. It doesn't need to be wall-mounted, prefer tabletop and HDMI connection. That's the background of the situation, I can offer more info if necessary.

Right now, I'm looking at 3 soundbars on Amazon. I've been reading reviews and it seems like any of these will be decent, but again, I'm a total novice about all of this. I'll link them in a comment, but the model names/specs and price from Amazon are listed below in case it violates rules to include them in the post. Here they are:

  1. $250, Vizio M51a-H6 5.1 Dolby Atmos 36" soundbar and 6" diameter subwoofer. 5.1 surround channels, 45Hz response.
  2. $120, Vizio M-series 2.1 soundbar with Dolby Atmos and wireless subwoofer, M215a-j6. 2.1 channels, 50Hz response, 70w max output.
  3. $260, Polk audio Signa S4 soundbar with subwoofer and Dolby Atmos. 3.1.2 channels, 20Hz response, 410w max output.

The Polk seems like the best option based on reviews/recommendation lists. Thoughts on those soundbars? I'm open to other suggestions as well. I would greatly appreciate any and all advice. Sorry for being long-winded, and thanks in advance!

tldr; looking for suggestions for a soundbar for my father. Limited budget, need something simple but good quality. A few options that I've looked at are linked in a comment below.

Samsung Q900C sale

I recently discovered that pairing Q900C with SWA-9500S is a good idea to replicate Q990C and it's cheaper.

I haven't checked, but does anyone remember if yesterday (Black Friday) Samsung had a sale for Q900C on their website? They don't today.

And I've seen some people talk about getting Q900C for $500 with EPP discount, does the item also have to be on Black Friday sale to reach that price with EPP, or can it be reached with current price + EPP?

Samsung S9500 with Q700c

Hey guys, I have Q700c, it's working fine but I am always debating if I should get S9500 for upgrade. However, my space is not allowing me to put them in the right place (can't put them as rear speakers since I don't have space behind my sofa).

So my question is: if I get S9500 as just put them normally near Q700c to make it 5.1.4, would it be a upgrade?

If anyone can test it and let me know if in this way, it's better than 3.1.2, that would be amzaing, thank you!
