I've just started learning how to skateboard and I'm not so familiar with how these competitions are judged, or with the difficulties of different tricks (they all look hard to me lol). I'm watching this competition:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PsL4669RsE
Again I'm no expert but Arisa Trew's run at 6:08 looked incredible! The score surprised me, even she looks shocked and disappointed! The commentators were not very useful either. What do you all think?? Wtf happened... I'm lowkey mad! I had to pause watching to post this because I need answers!
this is embarrassing to admit... i am pretty good on flat ground but i fall when i skate outside, i am going to keep working on it but i'm not sure. I'm going to try skating at a state park just for the fun of it!
is there any tips to help? any advice is appreciated!
I started skating around in Nov after ~15yr heitus where I only stepped on it once every few yrs. Making it my life goal to get good this year lol
Any tips on getting them consistent? I’ve been able to land a couple each year for the past 2 but never seem to be able to get them down
22F here new to pennyboarding! so far, i can cruise comfortably forward. still getting used to turning! any advice to offer? or anything you wish u knew as a beginner?
i want to try some tricks eventually and i heard penny boards are not good for tricks-- hope to get a skateboard one day :)
I’m about an hour South of Buffalo and have a great 2 story indoor park in my town (Jamestown Skate Products). Come Spring/Summer I’ll be venturing around again and tend to skate throughout the WNY area weekly.
So, I'm looking for a video from some skate boarding competition in Africa where there are a bunch of girls doing different "tricks" with their board but they're actually just holding their boards and not even trying the tricks. Anyone seen it and can share the link?
I've been watching the movies that are named grind, mid90s,the lords of dog town, skate kitchen and etc.Since then I have a physical need to learn how to skate😭 Does anyone wants to learn me how to like between the age of 17-20 cause I'm 17 and a girl.Btw I already have a skateboard 🛹and I live in Montreal Plzzzz answer if ur interested 👀
Ps:it's not my picture it's from Pinterest🥲
Hi friends, I hope this is ok to post here!
I’m working on slogans for an inclusive, women-owned skate brand that aims to empower female, queer, and non-binary skaters while creating a welcoming space for everyone — whether you already skate, or not. Your input will help shape how we communicate this mission.
Here are the slogans I’m testing:
Quick Question:
Which one stands out to you most? You can just leave a number in the comments to vote, or leave a more detailed comment if you would like :)
Additional Feedback (optional, but I'd really appreciate it!):
- Is the message immediately clear?
- How does it make you feel (e.g., inspired, indifferent, curious, alienated, empowered, secondhand-embarrassment, etc.)?
- Do you feel included or excluded by the wording or phrasing? If so, why?
- Does the tone resonate with you?
- Would this motivate you to learn more about the brand?
- Anything you particularly like, dislike, or think could be improved?
I’m especially curious about how the gendered language (like "girl" or "sisterhood") impacts how you connect with the slogans, especially if you identify as gender diverse. Your thoughts will really help me refine these ideas and ensure they reflect our goals of inclusivity and empowerment.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts!
I’m from south wales, uk. wondering if anyone from here wanna skate?
Hi,
I have been skating for about 10 years now. I love it, but don't get to do it as often as I would like. I've been reflecting on it a lot lately, as I am working on a project and was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions.
How would you describe yourself? How would you describe the area in which you live?
How did you get into skateboarding?
What are some issues that you have with skateboarding and why?
I’ve only just learned of Patti McGee, who just passed away at 79 - the full article is well worth a read if you can access it:
Anyone???

Hey all,
Truly do not mean to start anything here, just curious to get opinions on something to settle a discussion I had about the 'Girl' skateboards brand. I also want to preface that I know little about skateboard culture and history, I am just getting into it. I understand that one of the co-founders is a woman, and that they have a woman on their team atm.
However, I'm interested to hear what women (and men) have to say about the branding. Personally, (yes I know that this is probably 'too deep' for the counterculture subversiveness of skating), I disagree with a male-dominated company (owned and team) using 'girl' iconography. I feel this way because of:
Some arguments that I've heard and would likely disagree with, without more context:
"it's a product of its time"
"women/female skaters have never raised issue with it"
"skater girls are chill and don't care"
"skating is anti everything, including gender"
"it's that deep" (I could agree with this, but again - I just have an itchy curiosity about what you all think)
"the founders didn't mean it like that/they didn't know/they didn't think about XYZ"
"Girl has given a lot to skateboarding"
"it wouldn't make sense to rebrand so far down the track"
Again, this post is PURELY out of CURIOSITY, I don't mean any hate. Just wanted to test the waters and see what everyone thought :))
I've been thinking about buying a new deck and want to support women in skateboarding. Any recommendations for women owned companies or women's pro decks?
I know this has been asked before, but not recently. I looked into Meow decks, but nothing is catching my eye.
Also open to supporting a women's pro deck but it seems like a lot of skaters don't have one.
I’m a 31-year-old woman and beginner skateboarder, recently moved from the UK to Melbourne, and I’m looking to get a group of women together who are into casual skating and want to practice, have fun, and skate together at local parks—no pressure, just a relaxed vibe.
I’m thinking of starting a WhatsApp group to help coordinate meet-ups. If you’re interested, drop a comment or send me a message, and I’ll add you to the group :-)
Hi!
I used to skate a lot as a kid and I’m trying to get back into it. I’m significantly larger than a typical skater and I’m having trouble finding cute pads that would fit me. Any suggestions from plus size skaters welcome! Thanks in advance ❤️
