Hey there, I (39, European, F) will be heading to Siem Reap by end of next week. Is there any other solo travellers that would like to socialize and meet up for some drinks, dinner or exploring the city? No dating though. Let me know 🤝🏼
Just like the title says. Where else can a person see a good sunrise over a temple complex without 1000 other folks? Is there anywhere a little quieter?
Thanks
Heading down to Siem Reap for a few days. Our flight lands in the early afternoon, and we are expecting some free time after checking into our lodgings, before dinner. The current plan is to check out pub street after dinner, then turn in for an early night, but we're not sure how to spend the time until then.
Are there any places to check out that can help us kill two to three hours?
I just realized my wife and I will be in Siem Reap during Victory Over Genocide Day. What should we know to be respectful of the day and the community and to plan our day appropriately?
Hey,
I am currently in Chiang mai. Looking at flying to Cambodia (siem reap) at the beginning of next week. Really looking forward to visiting the temples. Just wondering what the night life is like there?
There’s lots of things going on here in Chiang mai for Halloween, I don’t know whether to stay here and then visit after Halloween as there is some events on here.
Is siem reap just a chill vibe or are there things going on there?
Tia
Is it possible to cover all 3 in one day? Also, can we purchase separate entrance tickets for Beng Mealea or Koh Ker? I am thinking whether to purchase 3 day pass. But want to save money if there is separate ticket for either Beng Mealea or Koh Ker.
Hi all!
I’m visiting Angkor Wat next week and want to explore as much of Angkor Wat as possible. I will either get my own bike or hire a tuktuk to get around so transport is no issue. I’ll also be reading up lots on the history of each site before/while I’m there.
I’d like to ask if anyone has a suggested route for the most efficient way to explore Angkor Wat and get the most out of being there. I ask because I only have a few days there, sadly.
Many thanks!
Other tips including best photo spots, food recommendations and any other recommendations are very welcome!
Hi everyone! I’m going to Siem Reap soon for a short trip, and sadly dont have enough time to look for good local food places by trial and error. I looked online and I’m especially interested in trying the following dishes:
Please let me have your best recommendations for shops/stalls I can try any of these items at. Any other local cuisine recommendations are very welcome too!
P.s. if you have any recommendations for specialty Cambodian things I could try/get (doesnt need to be food), that’ll be great too.
Thanks!
Hi
I'm coming to Siem Reap next month, arriving in the morning. Do you think I need 3 nights or 4 to see Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom/Bayon temple, terrace of elephants and TaProhm? What would you advise that first afternoon? Is there any wildlife/nature experience you would recommend?
While booking our trips the vendor has asked for US dollars, which brought me to thinking. What is the best currency to use in Siem Reap and for visiting temples etc?
Hi, I very unexpectedly find myself with an opportunity to experience Siem Reap in early December. My son plays music festivals all over the globe and those give me the impetus (and excuse) to go places Ive dreamed of, but never thought actually experiencing was a reality. He`s playing Wonderfruit Fest near Pattaya .... so obviously I`m taking full advantage.
For the Siem Reap leg I`ll be totally solo. I calculated routes into google maps for hours before I realized that the locals would have that stuff down way better than I ever could. I can devote up to 7-9 days for Siem Reap.
It seems like there is an amazing amount of incredible stuff that can be visited in a relatively small area.
My interest lies in
*the main Angkor Wat area of course
*A bit East concentrating on Bantay Srei , an elephant park, and nature areas among other amazing temples.
Yes --- Im a sucker for over grown vines and ancient rubble,
Im 63 and not the strongest hiker , but have A week or more to devote to this sacred area.
Ive never been east of Copenhagen ,,,,,, my comfort zone is Zero, but my interest level is 100+.
Any advice, lesser known "must sees" and suggestions especially on lodging and an outstanding guide are greatly appreciated. I`m definitely interested in the History, but not going for a doctorate if you know what I mean.
Breathing in the Vibe, taking pictures and feeling secure are my top priorities. Thank You for Your insights.
A friend of mine bought some amazing paintings from an art shop in Siem Reap, along the market area. He told me that he found this shop after crossing the bridge, heading left to Pokambor avenue. It's his sister selling his art. Below you can see his signature, it says "Sokvah" or "Sokvan". Can you help me find him online or on Instagram/ Facebook?
I have a $100 USD note is there anywhere I’m able to exchange it for Khmer reil in siem reap? Thanks.
I want to stay in SR for a week, but I don’t want to stay in a hotel. I would prefer to rent a residence for a week that includes a kitchen. Thanks in advance
