I am moving to phnom penh in 6 months and would like to know others experiences with the government monitoring system.
Has anyone ran in to trouble with the authorities being able to monitor what you privately view on the internet from your personal devices? According to some Google searches, all internet usage is funneled through a government portal so everything can be tracked and monitored by the government. That being said i understand laws like speaking out agaisnt the government is illegal as well as possesion and distribution of pornography.
What are the odds of getting in trouble for viewing any explicit material using your own devices privately in your own apartment? Regardless if it's porn or if it's explicit artwork from a professional artist like shibari or nude portraits for example.
Also has anyone had any email, bank account, or social media tampering because of how the cambodian government has internet usage set up?
Any experiences, info, and insight is greatly appreciated.
Cambodia got a nice coastline with some beautiful beaches and nice geographical positions, but they're not growing to anywhere near their fullest potential, why is that the case?
Hi everyone! I would like to ask how is it traveling to Cambodia while pregnant? Just worried about food safety and mosquitoes. Been to Cambodia before but was not pregnant.
Thanks!
Hey, I just arrived here today on my ones. (British 32M) Zero plans. Anyone else in the same boat and want to explore together?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for almond or coconut syrup in Siem Reap—the kind you mix with milk or coffee. It’s a concentrated liquid flavoring, not thick like a paste, but more like a flavored syrup.
I’ve checked a few supermarkets but haven’t found any yet. I’d love to buy a locally made product to support local businesses. Does anyone know where I could find something like this? Maybe a specialty store or a supplier for cafés and restaurants?
Thanks for your help!
Hi we are currently in Thailand and planning to go to Cambodia by a bus. We were going to get an e-visa but then I saw videos that e-visas only work if you travel by air and since we’re travelling by land we will need to get a visa on arrival? Very confused and nervous as to what we do and I’ve been emailing the government for days and no answer
Can somebody tell what are the rules or the name of the game so I can check the rule.
We’re 2 backpackers looking for a half day tourist guide driver
Hi everyone! I'm looking to buy an original Seiko watch in Bangkok and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for where to purchase one. I’ve heard about some reliable stores in the city, but I’d like to know if there are any shops offering a good selection of models, maybe even some that are harder to find in Europe.
Also, are there any Seiko models specific to the Asian market that might not be available in Italy? I’d love to hear about anyone's experiences with this.
Thanks in advance!
Any suggestions on the fastest way to get to Chi phat from Battambang?
I post this as a warning for those traveling to Phnom Penh! Be very careful! Do not expect any help from the police if anything happens! Make sure that you can protect yourself and never go out at night alone!
Edit: It seems there is a group of people here trying hard to suppress any report of crimes happening in Cambodia! Maybe locals or foreigners profiting from the tourist industry and afraid to loose customers... Don't believe them! And try to repost before they delete it! Better be safe than sorry!
Before some days I stayed in a hotel at riverside and as I went out at night to buy something from 7 11 somebody approached me and asked if he could send a message or make a call from my phone. Of course I understood that he wanted to steal my phone and I asked him to go away immediately. When he started coming near me and becoming aggressive I punched him in the face and he run away immediately.
*Edit: because many people misunderstood I want to make this point more clear:
He tried to grab my arm and I punched him first. I was just faster... There was nobody around and the guy was really aggressive so when he crossed my physical boundary I felt that I needed to defend myself. I was scared *
After I bought what I wanted I carefully started walking back to my hotel and as I approached the entrance I saw him waiting near there and holding a metal pole. When he saw me he started coming towards me and I run and entered a tuktuk that was near me and asked the driver to take me to the police. To not make the story long I was sent from one police station to another, visited all 3 nearby police stations and they all said that they could not help, it was not their job or they were busy... After all that came back to the hotel with the tuktuk to see if he has left. We stopped and this guy suddenly appeared again. I told the driver to go again but he was slow to start. This guy hit my phone that was on my hand with his metal pole and the phone fall on the road. He grabbed the phone and run away... The driver took me to the police again. The only thing they did was to record the incident say that they are busy and cannot do anything and send me away.
For those who do not know much about Cambodia I should say that emergency numbers don't work. They just never answer.
*Edit: For those who keep focusing on the wrong points and keep defending the police and the thief:
THE POINT HERE IS THAT THERE WAS SOMEONE WAITING OUTSIDE MY HOTEL DOOR WITH A WEAPON AND THE POLICE REFUSED TO COME AND CHECK WHAT IS GOING ON! *
Hello I was wondering if anyone has any advice on English speaking hospitals or clinics in the city? I'm worried I have a skin infection but really unsure what to do as I've heard healthcare here isn't very good and I won't be in bangkok for another 3 days. I'm quite worried right now so would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance
I just arrived for 2+ days here. Would love to meet locals or travelers and enjoy this paradise.
my partner (KH) and i (SG) are currently in a Long Distance Relationship (LDR), for coming to 2 years, and we love each other dearly but the distance is not doing it for us. We are looking to the possibility of having him work in Singapore (the money is better, of course), even for just a short time, but have no idea on how to go about this . He is university educated but knowing Singapore, it might not mean much. He is willing to explore most industries.
From my preliminary research, Currently there are not too many KH ppl in Singapore to my knowledge, (most are from PH, MYN, Viet, Indo, due to the quotas allowed for certain nationalities in certain industries). Ive only encountered 1 older lady who works in retail (and has already married a SGrean for years) and see online that there may be KH students in SMU. I'm really curious how any Khmer person can begin to work or stay in Singapore, if any.
Some questions that are on my mind.. if anyone would like to respond: What were some of your first steps ? What professions did you choose? What passes do you have? What was your experience like? Or if one wanted to stay in Singapore for an extended period of time, what did yall do to make this happen?
This is a lot to ask, but i appreciate all and any responses, we are simply trying get a better understanding of our options now.

Finished uni at late 2023 and officially graduated in Jul 2024 which was last year. Had some random works during uni from uni ambassador, a 3 month internship in marketing (gained nothing) and ended up working in hospitality right now while figuring out what’s next.
Any ideas or suggestions would help here.
Do you think it’s a good idea to move back to Cambodia for a 9-5 job? How would the opportunity like for a recent graduate i would say that has some gaps year in work experience, given a 1.5 year studies and the rest was on random work types.
My employer in UK hopefully they’re willing to sponsor me for a visa to continue working for them as i do lots of stuff from office administration tasks including HR up to staff training ( I am responsible for the whole business operation as well meaning I have to do it myself for most of the time). But again, i doubt it’s not related to my experience and knowledge. If you were to put on my shoes, how would you react, given the fact that you fear to lose your opportunity towards a first world citizenship in the coming years but you also feel regretful for not being able to use your knowledge from your degree as well as your desire of career.
Sometimes you have to sacrifice for something you don’t like. How do you think?

Hi all.
I am visiting Cambodia (Siem Reap) in the summer, and I was wondering if you knew if this was the legit website to make bookings with Cambodia Angkor Air. angkorair.com
Thanks!
Sorry if this isn't the correct place to post this, but I'm not sure where else to ask. I visited cambodia for a month in 2023 and loved every second of it. I've always loved the idea of moving to cambodia, and I'm a photographer by trade. Is it plausible for me to do freelance photography full time? Thanks for any help
This is a monthly thread for tuk tuk drivers and other local businesses to advertise their services.
All business advertisements, tuk tuk ads, and "thank you to my customers" posts must go in this thread, or they will be deleted, and the posters banned.
Let's reward local businesses who use this thread instead of spamming by becoming their customers!
Hey everyone!
I’m currently in Siem Reap and I’m on the lookout for cafes that serve complex and creative lattes. I’m a huge fan of layered drinks like coconut lattes, almond Korean lattes, and other exotic variations that require a skilled barista. Think along the lines of a dirty chai latte, yuzu honey latte, matcha lavender latte, or even more coffee!
Unfortunately, I haven’t had much luck finding these types of drinks in Siem Reap so far. Are there any spots here that serve these kinds of innovative and technically challenging lattes?
If anyone has recommendations for cafes that specialize in these, I’d love to know!
Thanks in advance!
Hi, I am Indian national visiting Vietnam and Cambodia. I understand there is visa on arrival for Indian nationals. I am planning to cross border from Vietnam ( in Ha Tien) to Cambodia (Kampot). I tried reaching out to Cambodian authorities for more clarity but haven't heard back from them. Can someone please help with the process. Thank you.
Hi guys, iam planning to go to siem reap and visit the elephant sanctury in banteay srei.
what are your thoughts? is it ethically okay?
I took the public bus today in Phnom Penh and during the drive the radio was playing. A song came that I really liked but Shazam couldn't identify it. I think it was sung by a women's chorus. I don't speak Khmer but coming for an ex Yugoslavian country, it kinda reminded me of workers songs that were popular during that time. It was just vaguely socialist and sounded old. I know this probably describes a lot of songs, but I was hoping that only a few are still popular enough to be on radio. If it rings a bell just post the name and I'll check it out. Thank you!
