Discussion on BBC's Sherlock
This subreddit is for discussions on Sherlock, a British television series that was created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.
Be civil. Moriarty loves chaos, but we don’t. Disagree respectfully—no abuse, harassment, or targeted attacks.
Stay on-topic. Mrs. Hudson doesn't like a mess. Keep on track—this subreddit is only for the BBC Sherlock series, and discussions surrounding it.
No self-promotion, links to unofficial merchandise, or other spam. John keeps Sherlock from chasing shady leads. Let's follow his example—no self-promotion or unofficial merchandise.
No discussion of piracy or circumventing DRM. In season 2, Mycroft says that Sherlock wanted to be a pirate when he was younger. Of course, this doesn't mean you should pirate Sherlock. Just a little fact for you.
Artistic drawings and images must be credited. Lestrade takes credit for Sherlock's brilliance. Don't be Lestrade—credit the artists.
No AI-generated art. Much like Anderson's theories, AI-generated art has no place here.
No JohnLock or fanfiction. Save your fanfiction for another case file. Please post all fanfiction/Johnlock content within either the fanfiction megathread, the fanfiction subreddit, or the Johnlock subreddit.
We allow free discussion of all events within Sherlock. Browsing this subreddit without having completed the show could result in spoilers.
Of course, we hope that you use respect and common sense. If a user specifically mentions that they have not completed the series, it is a common courtesy to avoid spoiling them.
If you do need to mark something as a spoiler for any reason, please use the spoiler format:

This will come out as: Moriarty was real

I’ve been searching for a fan fiction that is Moriarty centered, and features some sort of evil lair (?) or just a place Moriarty lives. If you’ve read something like that, please tell me, it’d be of great help.
And preferably no smut, and on ao3. But they’re not dealbreakers. Thanks :)
Hi yall, just finished the show 20 minutes ago. I'm confused as to why Eurus, who already had full control over the facility, needed to go through Mycroft to get a meeting with Jim Moriarty. Was it intentional to her plan that she involve Mycroft?
I'll be honest, this post is more for myself than any of y'all, but essentially, I watched the first two seasons of Sherlock a long time ago. I remember Adler making a reference to Watson and Sherlock being lovers, but I guess I was too young or dull to pick up on any others.
Well, I finally started rewatching the show, and I realized that it was a common theme! So I figured I'd make a list. I'll be updating it as I go, but if there's any I've missed (or if someone's already done this) please let me know.

I really thought that we’d be told how it got there sooner or later… but, nope.
I like to think that Sherlock was intensely explaining something to John, and it somehow escalated to him painting the face to prove his point. Jury’s out as to whether it made a speck of sense to John. 😂
for me it’s come over by noah kahan. i always imagine it’s after mary dies.
come on eileen as well and j actually have no explanation for this one i don’t know why but it reminds me of them.
I've tried to get answer but couldn't so searching.
In the Season-1 Episode-2: The Blind Banker when the second person gets killed whose flat is 4 floors high Sherlock says: "We need to find what connects these two men" and then suddenly stumbles over the book which is from the West Kensington Library.
They they just go to that library and proceeds. I don't understand that how he picked up that book and not other?
Based on house he seems perfect .
Probably glaringly obvious to most of you but I certainly didn’t spot it on my first viewing.
The killer (or at least their occupation) is subtly revealed in the opening 3 minutes of A Study in Pink.
“Get a cab” - cut scene to man being forced to take poison.
It’s so obvious on my second viewing that I wonder if people spotted it on their first watch.
Eurus
For example, I will read a study in scarlet, and then will watch an episode a study in pink. Or it's better to read all and then watch all
In a realistic scenario, Irene would get Jeffrey Epsteined in England itself.
But for some reason she ends up in Karachi, waiting to be beheaded. I do not think terrorists behead women. Realistically they would take her as a concubine and her life would be much worse than death.
Even if we agree she was going to be beheaded, the rescue is the part which pisses me off.
A tall, handsome Englishman disguised himself as a Pakistani terrorist and infiltrated them and nobody noticed?
Let us agree Sherlock's genius saved him there too. But Sherlock kills all the terrorists infront of Irene. He isn't shown to be that great in fighting before, and it's impossible for one man to fight so many terrorists all by himself, they are fighters too even if they are evil.
There were terrorists will guns, literally the guy who took the phone from Irene also had an AK. But Holmes kills him with a sword lol. He killed everyone in the camp , and nobody in the British or American intelligence noticed it?
He gave irene a new identity and escaped and probably the terrorists still told she had been beheaded to save themselves from the embarassment that a British guy who is not james bond managed to kill all of them. But how? I mean how did the others not know what happened?:Even the normal people outside the camp would have noticed something is wrong.
If Holmes isn't batman or James Bond, I don't know how he rescued.
Honestly speaking Irene just dying after telling good bye to Holmes would be a beautiful end. Even after knowing she was evil. I felt bad when I read all of the messages..
I have litteraly no words, What a master piece. One thing that gave me goosebumps about this final is the final reveal that redbeard wasn't a dog but the Sherlock's best friend, Victor...
The start, the middle, the end THE WHOLE SHOW, what a god damn masterpiece... If i could watch it another time like it was for the first time, that's what i WANT.
Weird to talk about the ending and then suddenly talk about the feeling of the whole show i know right, but i can't explain how much this show marked me.
Are we forgetting about Sherlock's best friend bones forgotten in the well? and where the child's parents?and why didn't anyone think to call the police? There's a child in danger guys.. and on top of that he died and was left for years and everyone moved on! and in the end Sherlock forgave her.? Because she's alone and the bullshit about the plane! PLEASE IT WAS SO RIDICULOUS! And they were being all nasty to Mycroft about it like he didn’t suffer SO MANY YEARS trying to keep this demon sister away and watching his little brother ON TOP OF THE WHOLE GOVERNMENT BRO…. justice for the real victims: Mycroft and the drowned bff (forgot his name) and John too cuz he was collateral damage. Sherlock is so much better than me cuz I’m definitely not hugging it out
In the very first episode, Study in Pink, every bottle of pills that we see prior to Sherlock and the cabbie has THREE pills in it. Obviously the final scenes Sherlock chooses between the two. Why?? And the cabbie says he takes whichever pill they don’t, so what he just chooses one of the other two?? It’s always bugged me.
Towards the end of S04E02, Sherlock tells John he doesn’t text Irene back, but in the very next scene he says he does text her sometimes.
So which is it?
I go to London often for work and pass Speedy’s about once a month! It’s a proper nostalgia kick whenever I see it, and this time I remembered to grab a photo to share 😁
I'm just rewatching s4, and I'm curious about a couple of things.
Just feels weird. Also if anyone can be compromised just by speaking to her, why do they trust Watson who had spent several sessions with her?
This whole sister thing I just couldn’t understand? Was it all hallucinatio? What was real and what wasn’t?
when i started watching sherlock, when i saw the actors, i tought mycroft was actually moriarty lol
