Hi! While I absolutely adore fanfic for it's fan service, I'm curious to find a fic that seems more realistic and literary, where the romance is hard won and there's loads of angst.
Can y'all give me your best recs? 🕵🏻♀️🙏🏻
so this was a longer boarding school fic where sherlock and john were roommates, they end up finding a dog and when they’re forced to change rooms at the end of the story sherlock gets pneumonia. i know this isn’t a lot to go off of but i can’t find it anywhere
Heard this song and it inspired me, John's grief always gets me.

Hello 👋 I’m currently reading this fic (https://archiveofourown.org/works/391445/chapters/642479) and it inspired me to write my own story about John as a resident doctor and Sherlock coming to the hospital after an overdose Don’t know where it’s going to to go (platonic or more idk) but it has what I find a really nice Greg/John friendship and maybe even some Mystrade (not sure yet)
I have only one chapter online but I’d love to hear some feedback so here’s the link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/54134749/chapters/137065897
Hope it’s okay to post my own fic here, if not please let me know & I’ll delete this post
I'm looking for a well written (gives off the character's vibe well in the dialogues and descriptions) hurt/comfort fanfiction where John has PTSD and Sherlock comforts him. It should have at least 17 chapters. There can be smut involved, but I'd rather it wasn't all about that. More romance than smut. I think I'd prefer a 3rd person POV. Could you recommend something?
Hello everyone,
I am a long time Johnlock shipper/reader and I am coming back to the fandom after the fucking disaster S4E3 was. I was rereading some of my favorite fics from back in the days, and I was wondering if someone has any recs for peculiar and gorgeously written fics. The best example is All the Best and Brightest Creatures or The Progress of Sherlock Holmes. It can be a casefic, but if it becomes a deep character study and less about the adventure I'm also up for it.
Thanks!
I dunno of it's been recommended before but read "It feels like home when I'm with you"
Basically John is a ghost and haunting 221B Baker Street and Sherlock moves in, they start communicating and lots of stuff happens. It's relatively short and nothing explicit happens, there are a couple swears tho. It's funny but also really sad, go check it out it's awesome <3
Hey
Hey guys, I just remembered A Finger Slip and that it had been taken down. I was wondering if anyone had access to it? I know there was a file floating around but I don’t remember where.
Looking for longer fics (multi chapter, the longer the better) that use S1-S4 canon but end in johnlock. Slow burn is excellent. Any maturity rating, but plot is what I’m after. Show me what you’ve got!
As I said, any good works you happen to know in french?
Hello! I am looking for a fanfiction.net BBC Johnlock fic set during the pool scene where Moriarty taunts Sherlock that nobody will ever love Sherlock. But then John says he does love Sherlock (but he meant it platonically) so Sherlock kills Moriarty. John, realizing that Sherlock just killed the only other person as smart as him, decides to go along with actually pursuing a romantic relationship with Sherlock. I believe the title has the word "Misunderstanding" or "Misunderstood" in it. I'm pretty sure the author also made a companion fic with Sherlock's POV.
Hello! I am looking for a fairly old fanfic [2012-2014]- I think that it was likely on A03 though. What I remember was that it was set after The Great Game, and their apartment has a persistent drip/leak/water problems- but the twist at the end was that they (or one of them?) was still in moment at the end of this episode, and the whole fic had just taken place in their head or as if in a dream. I think that it was fairly long- 70k? (perhaps?) I would love to read it again, any help finding it would be fantastic!
Not every adaptation, of course--but across the original ACD stories/canon, Granada, BBC, the new Sherlock and Co. or just about any other version you're familiar with; how would you describe their Johnlock? And how they differ from eachother.
Its literally my favourite fan art ever please help me find the creator. 🫶🏻
I'm new to this fandom, but I've read and loved A Cure for Boredom and Human Remains (which is Greg/Mycroft but I wished it has a Johnlock companion because the writing was brilliant).
I've picked up and put down several of this ships gems, mostly due to them having a lot of inner monologue content (which I get bored of quickly). Can you rec the fics you would consider "God Tier" and that have less inner monologue and more showing of actions.
Please and thank you!! 😘😘😘
Hello! I am looking for a fanfic where Mycroft recommends/gives Sherlock 5 or 6 classic novels - I think Jane Austen was one of them. ulysses was another. I can't remember why! Maybe he was meddling to her Sherlock and John together?
At some point John picks up Ulysses and reads out Molly Bloom's Yes I Said Yes section and Sherlock realises he has to tell John he loves him right away.
Hopefully this fic exists and someone has hold of it somewhere! Thanks in advance.
Mary kills Mycroft and flees to America while still pregnant with John's baby. She stays with a friend for a couple days and steals some clothes (the friend is a hijabi) from her as a disguise and dyes her hair brown. She gives birth alone and ends up stealing antibiotics from a pharmacy because she gets an infection from absolutely zero post natal care. Also she gives the baby up for illegal adoption. The man who arranged the illegal adoption is confronted by John and Sherlock, and he tries to taze Sherlock (but his replacement bellstaff is tazeproof lol). The lawyer ia murdered but John and Sherlock manage to find the family anyways. The wife actually stops the husband from killing John and Sherlock and allows them to take the baby. John shoots Mary after she shoots Sherlock as he sees no other way out.
Cute detail but Anthea replaces Mycroft and we find out her name is Evelyn or something.
Please help! I really want to read this fic again and recommend it to people!
I read it quite a long time ago and don’t remember a ton about it, but I do recall it being so angsty and sad and I would love to read it again. Essentially Sherlock and John get married, have a bit of a contentious relationship, they divorce and come back together later in life. In the meantime I’m pretty sure John married Mary and Sherlock retires and starts keeping bees, all before they eventually reconnect and come back together later in life.
The most specific detail I really recall is that while they’re separated, Sherlock starts to lose his cognition/memory a bit and can’t remember the what a “bee brush” is called.
Any help would be so appreciated!!
a while ago I read this johnlock ff and i've been dying to read it again but I dont remember the title. john and sherlock were both sick and kinda took care of eachother. they ended up on the same bed and I remember that sherlock lost his voice at some point and had to write on a piece of paper. if you know the title would you please tell me? I think I read it on ao3 but im not sure
I changed a mod setting and now everyone can post without having to beg for permission 🤦 sorry it took so long
If anyone wants to be a mod please DM me
Are there any good fics out there where Irene gets taken down or just exposed as being not as smart as she leads people to believe, etc?
I get super annoyed by all the “Sherlock shagged Irene in Karachi” comments I see online, particularly given how many times Moffat has shot this down. Anyway, it’s given me a major hate boner and I’m dying for fics where she goes down.
Hi everyone! I’m back in my annual Johnlock phase and I’ve been DYINGGG to find this fic again.
Information I know : -It was on AO3 -Rating was M or E -The story starts off as John meeting Sherlock and realizing he was the hero of his favorite childhood story (I think lol) and John is just like. Obsessed with him. The story goes on and it’s revealed that Sherlock himself has a mild obsession with John because HE was the main hero of Sherlock’s favorite childhood story. Sexy times ensue.
These elements make it a touch supernatural, and I’ve been having so much trouble parsing through the stories. I thought it was such a sweet premise I just wish I could find it again. Please let me know if you’re at all familiar! Thank you!!
Hello Johnlock shippers. I stumbled upon bbc Sherlock about a month ago, and binged the whole show. I was absolutely shocked by the seemingly pointed queer subtext between John and Sherlock. And frankly, upset by the series four resolution. I can’t help but feel like the show runners where blatantly queer bating the audience. Then I stumbled upon TJLC and the TJLC explained YouTube channel. While some of the theories may have been far fetched, it demonstrated to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that the queer subtext wasn’t just in my head.
I’m having a hard time letting this one go. It’s all fun to ship two characters, but I can’t get over how…quite honestly hurt I feel that the show runners would blatantly mislead a huge part of the fan base.
For those of you fans that saw the show when I first came out and were in the fandom throughout- how do you think about it now?
Fuck extremism: The Disney company could lose Mickey Mouse. Oh boo fucking hoo. God bless the Public Domain.

I came across this video today:

I posted this in the comment section of the video:
(Quote) "Who cares if the Disney company loses Mickey Mouse? First of all I've always prefered Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck to Mickey Mouse, because those two have flaws and imperfections and as such they are RELATABLE, whereas Mickey Mouse is a Mr. Perfect, a Gary Stu, with virtually no flaws and no imperfections which is VERY UNRELATABLE. Mickey Mouse is boring. I'd rather watch/read the adventures of Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey and Louis and the Junior Woodchucks.
Also no one should care if the Disney company loses Mickey Mouse because the Disney company needs to answer for their crimes and frauds.

Also, Walt Disney literally had lemmings be thrown off a cliff for a documentary, which got taken down, but they are BACK TO SHOWING IT ON DISNEY+. That alone shows that Disney is bad.
TIL Disney killed scores of Lemmings for the "suicide scene" in the 1958 movie White Wilderness. Producers pushed and threw them off a cliff while shooting footage of the cruelty, then framed it as a natural occurrence for the audience. Lemming experts said that they were thrown off a cliff.

The lemmings were thrown off the cliff and were thrashing about. You can see a hand come into frame at the bottom left of the screen too. I can't wait to see the Disney compant getting its comeupance, the folks running the company are awful, bad, horrible people." (Unquote)
(Quote) "Also, the public domain is NOT an "issue", Mickey Mouse would thrive more in the public domain than under a Disney company monopoly. Thank God that Sherlock Holmes is in the public domain or we wouldn't have all those great Sherlock Holmes novels written by various authors (they are delight to read and reread). Also, why should Arthur Conan-Doyle have a monopoly on Sherlock Holmes? He stupidly hated his own creation and stated several time that he hated Sherlock Holmes and hated that his character was so loved and admired by all those readers everywhere (what's the point of creating a character and writing about him if you don't want people to love and admire said character? that's just asinine) and he had every intention of killing off the best and most amazing character ever written in the history of litterature and if it hadn't been for the mass protests, he wouldn't have brought Sherlock Holmes back.
Conan-Doyle was hating on and disrespecting the best and most amazing character ever written in the history of litterature so thank God that Sherlock Holmes is in the public domain and is being used in lots of novels that the authors want to write, because those authors have more love and respect for Sherlock Holmes than his original creator ever did. Conan-Doyle didn't deserve to be Sherlock Holmes' creator and Sherlock Holmes deserved better than a stupid creator who is too blind to see how much of a great character and how much of an amazing genius Sherlock Holmes is.
God bless the public domain!
Edit:
Also as someone pointed out: "Without public domain works of art, Disney would not exist as a company. So let Mickey FREE!" (Unquote).
As someone said (and I couldn't agree more with them):
(Quote) " The public domain has benefited our culture in such a profound way that it’s unlikely anyone reading this isn’t fond of at least one thing that was created due to public domain. Fans of Disney movies are likely well aware that the majority of their best material originated in public domain works like fairy tales and older novels. Classical music has continued to thrive into the modern day because those works long ago passed into the public domain, allowing anyone with some talent to play them to their hearts content in recitals, concerts, and recordings. The list of movies, TV shows, and musicals which were based on public domain works is so long that I could spend days trying to find them all and list them here. Could you picture a world where you had to ask permission to write Dracula into your stories? How many people would be put out if Wicked had to be stopped? And yet, under the current laws, public domain has been stifled to the point that there is a very real chance certain elements you know of today may not reach public domain for generations – if ever.
And this really creates the friction that got me talking about this a year ago. As a creator, all I really want to do is be able to make a living off of my own creation and not have anyone take that creation from me without my consent. I simply want the same sorts of lines that Reggie referred to above. But after I’m gone, I don’t see why that creation should be perpetually kept from the public. Yet, currently, that’s what’s going to happen for a great number of elements that should be a part of our shared cultural heritage. And when I commented on it, the first time, a part of me realized that there may never be a time that a work like Axanar will ever be legal. There may never be a time when the works of creators today (or even the last few generations) can become part of the greater culture as a whole.
So to answer the question originally posed to me, I wouldn’t be opposed to fan works (eventually) that didn’t cross the lines Reggie drew above. This early in my career, however, the control of my IP is still very fragile if someone did do something. But once I became established there is definitely more room for such things, and I would be even less opposed to something made long after I died. Though it is entirely true CBS is well within their rights to do what they did, and will be for some time to come, I have this light twinge when I realize the original creator’s been dead and gone for 26 years. At the time Gene Roddenberry created Star Trek, the copyright would have lapsed in the 2020s. As of 1976 it was pushed to the 2040s. Come the extension of 1998, it was pushed all the way to the 2060s. So, as a result, there will be some who hold a monopoly over his creation 70 years after his passing, people who no longer have a direct connection to him or what he made. And, unfortunately, even that may not be the time when it finally lapses…

Oh and here's a must watch video...
"Why copyright makes no sense | The case against intellectual property
Criticism of copyright laws and patents is a taboo but it shouldn't be. With initially good intentions, copyright and patent laws are concentrating more and more profit and power within the hands of right holders, which in most cases is big corporations, labels and studios. It's dangerous to free speech and privacy in the Age of the Internet. Copyright is unlike any other right. It gives the class of authors supreme position over the rest of society, while treating everyone else as criminals when they want to exercise their free speech and property rights to the full extent.
Copyright is the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute someone’s work. It’s the right to make copies of a protected work, hence copy-right. Patents are government protections on improvements and inventions in devices and processes. In reality, copyrights and patents are monopolies.
Monopolies where only the right holders are allowed to profit from the resources. It’s a monopoly because the more copyrights and patents the government protects, the more restricted people are in exercising their property rights.
Imagine you and your neighbor both mine stone on your respective properties. Then your neighbor decides to build a sculpture out of his stone. In the world of copyright, the very pattern of this sculpture is now protected under the law. That means no one else is allowed to take full use of their property and make the same sculpture of their own. Since you also own stone, you are allowed to do everything except for making that sculpture. If your neighbor was to start mining stone with a pick-axe, they could patent this new production method and for 20 years, you would not be allowed to use a pick-axe to mine your stone on your property.
The more people make copyrighted works from their stone, the less and less property rights you can exercise with your stone. The more patents are registered, the more restricted you are in what you can and can’t do on your property. That’s because the logic behind copyright and patent laws treats ideas as scarce resources when in reality, they are infinitely abundant.":
